I think @Sir2fyablyNutz suggested 70/30... I could be wrong, and apologies if I am
He may have I didnt read ALL there posts before I made mine.
But same general idea there. Split it between past count/non post count but the higher percent going towards non post count.

If you want to make these contests fair .... Forget about the post count altogether.

A member that enters a certain giveaway contest gets one chance to win ... This ECF member's name stays in the contest for a chance to win as long as the contest is still going on ... Once the member wins, his name is pulled out of the randomizer .... Simple.

Why should we give someone that posts a simple "Good Morning" and a simple "Good Evening" and makes frivolous other one-sentence posts 50 times a day a better chance of winning than some guy that has a real job and can't sit at his computer 24 hours a day making worthless one-liner posts or posting silly photos to the contest thread on a day-to-day basis.

It's the only fair way to run a giveaway contest in my opinion .... Everyone that enters has an EQUAL chance of winning.
AMEN !!

I gotta agree with this.

It would also be nice to have a company rep in the thread.

Most of us understand Chinglish, and can help out. It just adds confidence, shows professionalism, and is kinda the whole idea behind this type of marketing isn't it? Connect with the enthusiasts to generate new customers?
They should be involved.
innokin set a benchmark with the disruptor contest. They were incredibly professional.
It would be nice to see the others at least try to do as well.

Just curious - if the high post is 1000 and entrants with 1 post also win - which contest would the 50, 100 or 500 post person be entered in?
So far, I feel the best contest as far as how it was run, was the Innokin one, where the giveaways was broken down into weekly sub contests....where the winners were picked based on answers to questions, mixed in with some random generator picks, so all participants had a better chance to win...those who can't post a lot (or don't wish to for one reason or another) still had a chance through the weekly (time frame irrelevant) sub contests.
That was fun - random draw one day and another day with different questions posted about your thoughts on vaping with a couple days to answer - no right or wrong answer.which gave the people with few posts equal chances of winning.

I can't help but see some irony in the fact that several posters here, who make 1 or 2 posts in a contest thread, typically only to complain about the post count method, have seen fit to give their opinion in THIS thread, MANY MANY times now, about how it should not be weighted by post count. Hmmmm.....

And the opposite is true as well.... the ones who make lots of posts in the contest thread want it weighted. I can spam with the best of them.

heavens forbid someone should weigh in on how they would like to see contests run....in a thread asking for suggestions on how people would like to see contests run. Everyone has just as much a right to put in their :2c:

Seriously Louis.... you've entered a lot of the contests, what percentage of entrants are "small number of entries" and what are the "more active participants" in your opinion?

Well, the contest is an ECF giveaway. ECF has the right to make the rules as they deem fit.
(no matter how we may disagree or agree with them)
If one does not agree with the rules set forth,
1. Do not enter
2. Do not post
3. kwitgerbichen.
4. Refer to rule #3

I don't want it weighted or otherwise. 50/50 is most fair. Half to those who want to participate more and half to those who don't. We really can't have complete one post per entrant contests because the manufacturers want a thread that is hopping. That's what makes them want to give all these prizes.

Whether it's from spam, honest to God conversation, hundreds making one post or one making a hundred... activity is what they see and what makes them want to give the prizes. Some of these contest have millions of views and hundreds of thousands of posts. THATS what sells the manufacturers on these massive giveaways. A one post per entrant contest is not going to have the same numbers and the manufacturers will just keep to the social media type contests.

I like that ecf can approach these manufacturers and show off these massive threads to entice them to give us prizes. We're gonna complain our way right out of having this type of giveaway here.

50/50, enter or not, post or not, your choice. No one forces you to take a chance at a free product.

And that's my input.

And how will the contest threads look if the same people continue to win over and over, and people get bored with trying, and don't enter anymore...how will those threads look? probably not too enticing for the suppliers
