Hello again!

I had a Joye 510 a few years back but didn't stick with it. Now I'd like to try again but I'm pretty overwhelmed by the options out there and need some help finding what'll be a good fit.

I liked the Joye a lot... for a few weeks. I had a lot of trouble with the atomizers that came with - I did direct drip and they tasted TERRIBLE if they weren't washed out really well first, but I kept burning out the coils somehow . I want something a little lower maintenance.

I'm eying the Volcano Inferno, which looks pretty sexy but might be a little much for me. I smoke about 10-15 Camel menthols a day right now and the Inferno is kinda meant for heavier smokers.
I also hear good things about the Mig but haven't looked into them.
I don't feel like Youtube reviews are giving me a lot of comparison (everyone just saying "this is the best thing ever!") so I thought I'd come to the source!

What do you smoke and why do you prefer that?

What really helped me out when I started vaping was the Ego Twist a couple different tanks (Vivi Nova and the Kangar Protank)
The tanks were super low maintenance because all I had to do was fill them and go. Changing the coils on them in really simple too. Just unscrew the top from the Vivi or the bottom from the Protank to access the old coil.

I smoked a pack of Marlboro Reds a day, now I've been smoke free since summer!

As far as my vaping habits, I like really warm vapes so I'm using some some variable voltage/wattage devices and cato tanks, they are a bit more maintenance than the Vivis or Protanks but give me better warmth and flavor.

I use the inferno with the bct tank system. I used to smoke anywhere from 1 to 1.5 packs a day. I enjoy my inferno now that i have the bct tank. The old tank was crappy with the priming and ato's and stuff. But i like it for what it is. I never used the variable wattage controlled kind before it just seems like too much at the moment but for a beginner i thing the inferno is good...

When I'm out and about I'll use my vision spinner and a cartomizer. It's small and fits in my pocket. The cartomizers do not leak when outside in the cold. I live in a city where they banned ecigs like analogs, so I have to vape outside. When I'm at home I use an iTaste MPV 2 with an IGO W dripper. The iTaste has a great battery life and the igo is rebuildable and provides a much warmer/better vape.

A Kanger EVOD starter kit should set you up well. I can also highly recommend a Kanger protank 2 mini with an eGo twist/spinner battery (kanger, vision and joyetech makes these to name a couple). A friend of mine recently went from an EVOD to that protank 2 mini setup and says it's quite a bit more enjoyable.
The eGo Twist/spinner batteries let you control your vaping voltage so you can choose to have your vape warmer or colder, this brings out certain flavors more. I think it's one the best eGo-sized (read cuban cigar sized) vapes currently on the market.

The battery should last you a day at your pace but you may have to refill your juice 2 or 3 times a day.

The thread you pointed at is exactly what a couple of us are recommending, minus the twist/spinner variable voltage battery.

I have to agree with xyanide: the ego twist/spinner with a mini protank is a good setup. I was using it a few days ago at an all day meeting for work and now a group of gals from that meeting are going to get their own. It is portable and the tank is really good. I also use a protank 3 on my 1300 mah spinner and really love this tank. However, the protank 3 uses different coils than previous pro tanks, the protank mini, and evods. I own at least one of all of these, and like them all.

I made it for two years in October last year using Boge and Smoketech cartomizers. It's only recently that I've tried using these new attys they call clearomizers, tanks, etc.,They all work at first, but they got issues, burnt taste, gurgling, etc. If you're new and encounter one, you'll tend to give up. Cartos, don't have these kinds of issues. What I'm suggesting is don't forget to buy cartos.

JQside every issue you're pointing out for clearomizers doesn't happen if you're using the proper setup. It would really help if you point out how and which clearomizers malfunctioned.
Cartomizers have their own issues if you'd ask me. If you run one dry and fire it there's a good chance of the wicking material burning up. The refilling can be a bit of a pain often times, but it's a great performer in flavor of course. Clearomizers (especially from kanger) have improved a lot since the vivi nova / stardust era.

im still only useing standard egos with iclear16 ce5 and evods, I only use 1.5 ohm coils to get a good vape from them. going to get a itaste vv v3 soon or might just wait and get a vamo but would like the itaste first as id be happy to vape it everywhere as its small.

I use my duel coil iclear16 mostly as I like warm vapes but use evods as they are bottom coils for certain juices as they taste nicer cool. going to look for a good duel bottom coil but dont know any that do coils at 1.5 ohms, research time just lol. just got to find what you like as everyone has different tastes etc but once you do its easy, I also had bad experiences first time round but glad I gave it another go like you are. best thing to do is to just read on and ask about anything your not sure about and once your set up youll be glad you retryed lol, good luck. :):):)

What do you smoke and why do you prefer that?

I smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day for over 40 years.

I have been through the EGO style batteries, and several MOD's as well. It helped me cut down to less than a pack a day (in about a 4-5 month period), but I realized I needed something that was as consistant as a cigarette, and could give me a satisfying enough hit to NOT think about cigarettes.

I got a ProVari Mini and some SmokTech cartomizers and went down to 3 cigarettes a day in about a week, and down to none a day in another week. I have not smoked a cigarette in over 3 weeks now, and it is not really bothering now.

The ProVari is pretty expensive, but as much as I used to smoke, it payed for itself in 10 days. Also, I used to want to try new MOD's when they came out, but now I have no desire to even do that anymore, and I feel like my ProVari is all I need.

2x ego Twist or Spinner batteries - 1 to use and one in standby > What do you do while charging, or if lost.
Several Evod or other Bottom Coil Clearomizers.
Sever 5 packs of Heads - Swap heads every few tank fills - soak used in grain alcohol to clean

Clearomizers WERE considered Disposable - like cartridges, etc. - Now the head is replaced reducing expense.

Small Samples of e-liquids until you find an all day Vapable mix to your liking. Most e-liquids need days to weeks of let sit/shake to reach final mix and intended flavor. order ahead.

Good Luck!

Alright....it sounds like you might be leaning towards and evod setup.
I mostly use evods, and protanks. I would recommend having both, especially for certain menthols which can be tank crackers but work really nicely in the glass protanks. And while we are on the subject of Menthols....those seem to vape nicer at cooler settings, which means you may not really need a spinner or any kind of vv at this point.
That having been said:

Thanks everyone for the responses!
I did end up buying an EVOD starter kit, but with mini protank 2s instead of the typical EVOD cartos. I bought a kit from Vapebros for $45 (2 650 mAh EVOD batteries and 2 mini protank 2s). I've been checking my tracking info like 4-5 times a day... even on Sunday and MLK day haha. Vapebros got it out within 12 hours of ordering, which I thought was awesome. It came in tonight! I'm excited. Can't taste effing anything yet, so no idea if I even like the SeduceJuice stuff I ordered, but I'm looking forward to tasting and smelling again. Also looking forward to eventually feeling comfortable enough to rewick with cotton and rebuild heads.... baby steps. ;)

I didn't go for a twist right off just because I felt like playing with voltage/wattage while still trying to figure out if I'm even vaping right would be too much. Supplies are inexpensive compared to smoking, so I'll get there eventually :)

Sweet Jesus I should have checked back here before I ordered! That is a great deal :).
