Hello!! As the title suggests, I'm not exactly new to this electronic cigarettes thing but I'm giving it a second chance. Been a smoker since I was 15 so its been about 23 years since I've been smoking real cigarettes. Back around 2008 I tried a brand that was decent...but honestly, didn't fulfill as much as a real cigarette. I think it was "Smoking Everywhere". Anyway, the atomizer crapped out on me...so I kinda gave it up. Anyway, a recent trip to the doctor kinda scared me, so I decided to try electronic cigarettes again. Done a little research and it appears relatively safe..much safer than real cigs lol. Anyway, I went with Blucigs since I see advertisements everywhere. Again I wasn't too impressed...the battery is pretty small and again, I didn't get the same satisfaction I do with real smokes. So as a pseudo noobie, what is a good brand out there? I really want to eventually kick real cigs...but my searches produces so many different brands...I don't want to waste money on crap. Thanks again!!

well if you have to have one that looks like a cigarette I would go with a volt from Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarettes | Wholesale Electronic Cigarettes | E-Cigarette | Best Electronic Cigarette | Electronic Cigarette but because of the small size you'll only get about 3 hours out of the battery
you'd be better off with a kgo or riva you'll get better battery life
KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit
E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings or an e-power

other people will chime in soon

Hello and welcome, BuddhaKiss. I have a KGO sitting in a shoebox that intimidates me. LOL...not the shoebox, the KGO. I got a Volt in the mail today and I am loving it. I'm not a "techie" person...just like simple and fuss free.

Many on here love mods and VVs and manual batteries. My Volt has a sealed auto battery and I love it. It just depends on what you are looking for, I guess.

Buddha we all get discouraged to some degree and at some point. Usually at the beginning because we are not familiar with our gear or we buy something that doesn't satisfy our need. I went through that myself after the first week or so. I did find myself smoking a WHOLE lot less and feeling better both physically and about myself.

I knew at some level that I had finally found a viable tool that would help me quit. So I continued my search, asked questions, learned about the gear, and took my time all the while knowing there was finally hope in quitting the cigarettes. There are plenty of choices and there are even more differing opinions as there are folks. Don't be discouraged, we all go through it at some point. If you smoke a cigarette or 2, whatever, don't put yourself down but rather count the ones you are not smoking. Yes I did spend a little money at first but once I found my sweet spot it has been at a minimum 80% less expensive to vape.

Like everything else when something is worth it you just keep working at it and you will undoubtedly succeed both for your own health and also for the ones that love you and care about you. Scores of folks here will vouch for that! You probably even know that yourself that's why you are back. We are all pulling for you too in whatever way we know how. Do your searches, ask questions, familiarize yourself, learn to use your gear.

Good luck to you and know you are not alone, many here have gone through it too.

First off there is no ecig that will be the same as a analog. But it takes some time to find what does the best for you as we are all different..

The ecig only has nicotine and not the 3 or 4 thousands gases that analog has and you are addicted to those gases as well and it will take some time to get free of that..

The good news is that many have done it including me and we are here to give you help and support..

There are many good starter kits out there..ego, kgo, riva, go-go, volt, bloog are all good kits depending on how large or small you want to go. Keep in mind that the smaller ones require more battery charging..

Like I said we are here to help so don't shy and ask any question you want..

I smoked for over 50 years and quit the day after I got my first PV and I am getting up to almost 6 months..

This is probably the first thing you need to understand about using a personal vaporizer (PV):

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

You need a bigger battery to get warmer vapor (more like the real thing) and less hassle with changing batteries every 45 mins. to an hour as you do with mini battery models (cig size). At a minimum you want a 650 mAh battery but I would suggest one with more mAh than even that. And you want at least 3.7 volt power but 5 volt and variable volt is significantly better than 3.7 volts.

Some good beginner models are the E-Power 510 (1050 mAh) and Kgo. Both of these are 3.7 volts. These are eGo type models but with better batteries than the eGo which is only 3.4 volts. They are the size of a slim cigar or sharpie, so not really that big. ALWAYS stick with manual batteries. And for most it is advisable to start out with 24mg nicotine strength eliquid in order to make the transition. You can always lower the nic strength but you can't make it stronger.

Here are some reputable suppliers:

Good Luck

I suppose there are a couple of ways a person quits. Bad news from the doctor is a good motivator to flip that "switch" in the mind. Another important factor is to know what you enjoy the most about smoking and try to replicate that to the highest degree possible. For me, it was the throat hit and nothing else.

The models mentioned above are all very good starting points.

For e-liquid here is a thread discussing sampler packs:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/238053-sample-packs-where-get-em.html

24mg seems to be a popular strength in the beginning. I started with 36 but an down to 18 and transitioning to 12.

A longer list of suppliers to look through:

All the best!

I personally would recommend the Volt to anyone starting out too, but if you've already tried a Blu they are very similar. NOTHING is going to be exactly like an analog.

It sounds to me like you are looking for something that produces alot of vapor and throat hit. Vaping at a higher voltage does make a difference, but another deciding factor there is going to be the type of juice you use.

I bought an Ego and prefer the Volt over it. I got more vapor production and more intense flavor, but the switches were just a pain-I had 2 crap out in a matter of weeks and I didn't enjoy having to press and hold a button as opposed to drawing on it like an analog. I also wasn't fond of using something so big and strange-looking in public. My Volt hardly gets a second glance.

If it were me in your shoes I'd be experimenting with juices right now rather than new hardware. Try a higher nicotine level. Go with a higher VG content if you want a denser vapor. Having a flavor you love is extremely important also.

There is also a big difference in the experience from using different cartomizers. A good quality dual coil is infinitely better than the single coils I tried.

In the end, I think everyone has to go through a trial and error period before they find their favorite setup. Best of luck to you!

I totally agree with a previous post in that you need to know what it is about smoking that means the most to you and go from there. I found it was the deep inhale/exhale and learned about PG/VG to find my "recipe". Totally satisfying . . . now! Others prefer the TH and flavor. I personally, have no problem with having to change cartridges and batteries because I relate these activities to going to the other room to get a cigerette and lighting it. I rarely carried them with me throughout my day. Others prefer the convenience of all day power and juice. It's a very personal choice with lots of options!!

Read, ask questions, and read some more, all the while thinking about the experience you want vaping to be and you'll find your way.

This is a GREAT place to start!! Best wishes!!!!!

You sound like me; I am in for the third round. Tried the Smoking Everywhere from a mall kiosk - got one or two good puffs off it and poof! It was dead (thus my one-hit wonder name.) That was way back in 2009.

Went through a round of 808's after that, but the technology wasn't too good. Those did not last very long before the battery or atty would die. But I got some really good taste from them. Decided this Fall that the tech might be improved. Had a round of 510's and those failed. Tried an Ego and the batteries were great; but the taste ... not so much. So I came here to the forum and stated my problem. I wanted more of a slim cig. The good folks here suggested Volt.
Finally, an e-cig that puts out tons of vapor, tastes great and the batteries have lasted a month so far and still going strong. I didn't think I'd actually quit the faggies completely; but that seems to be what has happened! Mentioned it to my doctor and he plans to get a kit! Anyways, this is my 2c worth and hope it helps!

My preference these days are an inexpensive mod...the Riva Indulgence V3. Can be vaped at 3.7V (18650 battery), 4.8V (NiMh), and 6V (2 x 3V lifepo4's). It's all mechanical so no worrying about broken wires or circuit boards to crap out. My favorite vape is at 6V with a dual coil cartomizer on board. What is nice about this mod, if a lower voltage isn't giving you what you want, you can increase it by having different batteries to put in it. Also, you may need to up your nic to around 18-24mg. I started at 36mg but I was a 4 PAD smoker.

Mods - free shipping and great customer service. He will have the kits available sometime this week when his new supply of batteries gets to him. His juice is pretty good also. I like pearberry and malibu.

The batteries can be bought just about anywhere. I usually get my batteries from rtdvapor.com. He also sells the charger unless you are willing to wait for Jason to get his supplies in if this is the route you go.

maximumvapors.com has the dual coils on sale right now. Enter code Sale at checkout for 5% off your total order and free shipping.

Somewhere out there
Welcome! I had also tried some years ago, the 3 piece mini ecigs and they were so disappointing! I liked the concept just not the performance. So this summer tried again. I got the Halo G6, similar to the Volt. I loved it and it got me off analogs for good. But battery life is not real long, so I was charging alot of batts! LOL Then I got a GLV 2 SM and it was what really worked for me. The flavor is great and the batteries last a long time. But I still use my Halo G6's for a relaxing vape session as it is like a real smoking experience. I also have an ego passthru and it is cool because you always have power if it is charging on the PC plus you can take it off and vape unplugged once it is charged. I do find the flavors suffer on it tho, not sure why but they taste better on the Halo G6 and GLV 2 SM, so these last two are are my favs. Good luck on your search, there is a PV out there just for you! :vapor: bnrk

If you got $250 or so to blow, get a Provari from provape...you won't be disappointed. If you don't have so much money, the lava tube would be my next recommendation @ around $75. If you don't have 75$, go over to madcaps and pickup one of their $34.99 VV box mods. All three of these are variable voltage, meaning you choose how hard you want the device to work for you. I would recommend the Provari or the lava tube over the box mod because those first two devices I mentioned have safety features built in so you won't fry your attys or cartos up too quick (they only allow an amp draw of about 2.5. Good Luck!!!

the ones that look like a real cig need constant charging and that to me is a pain in the .... , and a big turn off , thats what i first started with and it didnt get me off the real cigs, but with like the ego i tended to use it more as there was less charging , moving on to the don EVEN BETTER , and im sure there are many out there even better but for now this is working .

Strange title. You don't give e-cigs chances. Manufacturers will still make money without you and me. You give yourself chances, not the other way around, especially when it come to your health.

You don't try to quit with this mindset. You want to quit because smoking is bad and it may be too late to quit, not because there's no alternative to analogs and e-cigs don't taste the same. Of course, they don't. I quit cold turkey for one week because I wanted to quit, and I employed the use of PVs the second week to substitute the whole physical hand-to-mouth motion. I could care less whether the vapor tasted rotting wood or something. It's still significantly safer than inhaling thousands of chemicals. I'm approaching my third month of non-analog now and I can't imagine going back. Dogs probably only need a few days to learn new habits. Humans require months, years. Two months is enough for me.
