Kendo should be very good but I've never used it myself. Native wicks is my go-to cotton.

You could try rayon too if you're having al ot of problems with cotton.

I wonder if your mod is functioning properly if you're burning wicks in TC mode though.

I always use Ti1, 28g, twisted. I've only tried SS recently but think I prefer Ti from UD myself for the purest flavor. I need to do more testing to be sure though, been a bit lazy recently.

edit: i forgot; I re-wick every ten to 14 days and rinse and rub the coil clean when I do. A coil lasts me 3 months or so that way. I don't vape much though, 2 to 3ml a day maybe.

IMO, its got something to do with your wicking and/or power you are using. Your cotton looks singed and that will definitely cause flavor to go downhill. Feel like maybe you are using too little wicking, since the flavor starts out good. If you were using too much, you probably wouldn't get good flavor at any point, just a damp cotton taste. Even after several days of use, when I change cotton, it still looks clean with no scorching. I would try a little more wicking and start wattage low to bed the cotton in, and slowly bump it up to the taste you want. Hope something works out.

I have the Hcigar TI 26 and 28g, The flavor is horrendous, makes me want to quit eciggs :/ Maybe i need to try a new brand of TI wire.

II will try what you suggested, More wick and starting at lower settings, I would just make sure the cotton is primed and start vaping at the watts/TC i normally use.

If your after flavor and not concerned with huge clouds you can't beat a genesis with SS mesh wick. imo it is worth the time to learn how to set one up properly. You can get a Pyrex/RSST pretty cheap now days and they are a great starter genesis.

I have been a vaper for around 3 years now, Was using pre made coils for 2 years and then switched to making my own a year back.

I buy many RTAS because I end up hating it after a week or so because the flavor sucks.

Right now i have

Limitless RDTA
Aromamizer supreme RDTA
Crius OBS
Wotofo Mini
Wotofo Serpent
Bellus
Goliath
and the list goes on and on.

RDA: Geek Vape tisuami RDA - I dont see how people use RDA'S as the flavor is disgusting from my experience.

So here is my experience with the following wires

These are all made with 25 or 30 with a UD coil winder

Clapton: 24/32g 5-8 wrap = tastes ok sometimes but then gets ruined very fast

Kanathal: 5-9 wrap 24g = same as above tastes ok and gets screwed fast
( tried 26/28 and no improvement)

Titanium: 26 and 28g and build with 5-8 wraps and this is the worst wire i have ever tried.

SS hcigar: This is the only wire that gives me really good taste, I uploaded a picture at the bottom with a spaced build i did and again its loosing flavor. 24g 66watts / 0.18 / 520-550F in TC on a rx200.

Now I read on this forum that some people dont rewick or rebuild a coil for days, I have to BUILD EVERY SINGLE DAY, not a day that goes by that I don't need to rebuild, I dry burn and then rewick but it gets disgusting after 1-2 hours of vaping.

I am very picky when it comes to liquids so right now im using beard vape co 51 and kings crest dutchess.

Anyone have any input for me ?

I build a coil about every 2 1/2 ,-3 months.

When the flavor goes wonky. I do the following.

1. Gently remove tge old wick.
2. Dry burn tge gunk off the coil (don't do this with Nickel or Titanium
3. Install a new wick in the old coil.
4. Prime tge new wick and its like a brand new coil.

Here is the ordee of RTAs i recommend

Silverplay Nano best RTA i ever used
Goblin Mini
Orchid V3
Kayfun nano

Height is generally a flavor killer.

This is a new build with mad rabbit low resistance kanathal 24g wire. 6 wraps.

tastes so,so right now at 0.28 ohms/31 watts and 2.96v, Will bump it up slowly and see how it goes.

Well, that should rule out the mod as a cause then

It's worth a shot. I tried 3 different brands and got a slight metallic taste with the other two brands, this one appears clean as far as I can tell.

Got myself a triade dna200.... Believe it or not, it solved all my issues. Now im getting decent flavor and coils are not getting screwed up as fast and cotton is not burning... How is this possible ?

Wattage mode on my RX200 vs wattage mode on my triade is a completely different vape.
SS on rx200 vs SS on triade is different also.
IM super super happy now.

I'm glad your happy now. A possible explanation has to do with how the devices apply power. Some mods apply more power than specified in the first half second to ramp the coil up faster. I don't own an rx200 anymore, I ordered it and tried a few atties on it and put it back in the box to be returned within 15 minutes because of the 510 connection but you might be able to set the power applied when you hit the button. You can set the power for the DNA 200 in escribe. It's possible the DNA was set better and the RX was slowly singeing your cotton. I made the effort to post this information so you could keep from shelving your RX forever. Good luck!

I'm pretty new to coil building and I was getting horrible flavor in my KFL+. What finally helped was boiling my cotton, using less cotton, and moving the coil down a bit closer to the air hole.

Have you tried Rayon? I like it way more than cotton and none of that boiling stuff necessary - Rayon Wick - Better Flow, Flavor, Longevity, and Nic Hit!! - Pt.2

Hubby vapes at much higher watts than me and has had similar issues. The only fix I found was packing some cotton under the coil to help increase wicking and keep the coil from sucking up all the juice around the coil so fast.
