Hello everyone. I am rather new to vaping (got my stuff in the mail Monday) and today I have experienced a familiar, awful feeling; the feeling on withdrawal. I have my juices with 18mg/ml of nicotine, and I vape about as much as I smoked. Now, I was a smoker for almost 2 years, and was up to a pack a day for about a year.
Today has been my first day without a real cig (as I am to cheap to waste 2/3 of a pack of Newports when my stuff came in Monday) and I feel like I am going through withdrawal. Has anyone else experienced this switching from regular cigs? I figured I wouldn't have it, or at least it wouldn't be so bad since I have my vape, but it is still terrible.

Thanks in advance for any input.

For me I was pretting much constantly vaping at first. I was trying to quit a 37 year habit. Some days I would literally have to have an analog. I was probably missing something in the brand I smoked I could not get from vaping. Your brain also has to adjust to vaping it kind of goes back and forth( you like both at first). You will begin to like lots of things about vaping more just hang with it and drink lots of water. I started in April rarely do I even think about a real cig now. Depending on what you smoked you could need a high nic level at first. I am down to 12mg now. Good luck.

hi Gavel,

First off, most of us find we vaped more than we smoked, and you might need some higher nic level juice. There is debate on if we absorb all the nic from the e-cig, but one thing is certain it is absorbed slower than it is with cigs.

I had to jump my nic level up to 24 mg to get away from smokes, others have gone over 30mg.

Welcome and congrats for moving in the right direction. Give it some time. The first few days of trying to quit any kind of habit, or addiction if you will, is always the worst. When you get the urge just pick up the e-cig. After another couple of days you will be a lot better.

What kind of kit and juice did you get? Is the combo satisfying to you?

you my friend, need more nic....newports are some potent smokes....and thus you need to up the dosage a bit....i suggest checking around locally at some of the smoke shops in your town to see if they carry any juice in the 24/36mg variety....and you should be fine afterwards

Well the Newports weren't an everyday thing (for some1 who is 20 and in college, I couldn't afford for it to be my everyday smoke lol). I usually smoke Marlboro Menthol. I had thought about upping the dosage of nicotine, but thinking about it, when I would try to go lower again, I would presume I would have these feelings again. I think I am gonna just suck it up for the next couple of weeks. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't weird to go through this when swapping to vaping.

I got 2 eGo twists, 5 CE3 cartomizers, 5 smoketech SC cartomizers, a Vision ViVi tank, a T2 clearomizer, 2 drip tips, a 30 ml bottle of spearmint juice, and a 30 ml of Hawiiann Punch (both 18 mg/ml), plus the place I bought my juice from sent a free 15 ml bottle of strawberry shortcake.

I wanted to let you know - You Are Not Alone With Withdrawals! I am on my 2nd day without a cigarette, and too am feeling the symptom of withdraws. I feel irritable, anxious, and very out of sorts! I had been smoking for about 20 years and have tried to stop at least 4 times.
I don't believe it matters how long you have smoked or how many packages a day - addiction to these cigarettes is very strong for me too.
I am still getting the nicotine, and I am also withdrawing from whatever else I was addicted too in those cigs. I have no idea what, only know that there are so many other things than nicotine that keeps people smoking.
You are on the right path, and so am I.

Good luck new vaporer(?)

the marlboro menthols are also pretty potent smokes for sure, to be honest though you shouldn't be having any more want for a cigarette after 4 days, due to the half life of most of the chemicals found in cigarettes, including nicotine (which you'll still be getting)....as for your set up, have you tried cranking the voltage on the twist? a little extra punch goes a long way ;)

Welcome to the forum! I think many of us here have gone thru something similar to what you are experiencing. For me the addiction was almost all mental. I started out with a kit that simulated a cig and it worked perfectly. From my first drag until now never looked back.

But its not always easy for everyone. I found that the liquid plays a big roll. If its a flavor that you dont like much, you may want to smoke even more. So its important to experiment with a few different flavors and find the one that satisfies you.

18mg is not bad. I started out at 24mg but could have easily did fine with 18. Again for me it was mental. I didnt crave nicotine so much as want the sensation when inhaling and I needed a flavor that would get rid of any taste in my mouth. Thats what my smoking trigger was.

Many people make a transition. Cutting down each day and vaping more until you feel you can leave it behind. Dont give up, think positive and never doubt yoruself.

Try to break the cycle of thinking, "I have to have a..." Keep busy. Enjoy your ecig in instances where you couldnt smoke. When ever you think the desire to smoke is too much and you cant hold out - instead think about how long its been. If you went this long whats another 10 minutes? Another 20? The less you think about it the easier it will become.

Stay positive and realize there is no real good reason to keep smoking compared to not... Sorry for the ramble.

Nice. You started out right. And you mean business.

Honestly, 18mg should be fine. It's still on the upper end of the spectrum. I still get a good nic 'buzz' from it. I think you just need to be a little more patient. It's a big change from what you're used to.

Quick edit: Try to get your mind focused on vaping. Turn it into a new 'hobby' like the rest of us here at ECF. It will keep your mind off the past. :)

I have, but on most of my flavors, they just taste burnt (this might be bc right now I am using the lower quality cartomizer). Also, another thing I just realized is that I have been vaping a juice of my brothers all day. I just now realized, his only have 6 mg/ml of nicotine vs. my 18, so I think that might be affecting me too.

Now that would be one problem with the nicotine, but another would be not filling the cartomizer properly. Do you know if it's a single coil or a dual coil? There are a few different way to fill them, but the carto seal, or 'condom', is the best way I've found. I have to hunt down a good video. Will edit this when I find it. How are you filling them? Dripping the juice?

Here is a good one. A PBusardo Tutorial : Filling Boge 510 Cartomizers - YouTube

Yeah, I'm just dripping the juice on the sides, attempting to not let any get in the hole in the middle where the coil is.

Welcome to ECF.

Just a thought, as many new vapours try and use a PV the same way as if they are smoking. You need to take long slow drags on the PV, The nicotine is absorbed in the mouth linings not from the lungs, so long slow drags into the mouth, then inhale for the throat hit and hopefully your cravings will ease a little.

Welcome to ECF and congrats on your efforts to get on the vape and off the stinkies. Vaping 6ml juice is probably the largest part of your problem, and not filling your cartos properly is another part. Watch some videos and vape your own juice and I think you'll find things getting better fast. Drink MORE WATER than you are used to drinking. It's important in the change.
