I really disagree with anyone that says that the Hurricane is a good flavour MTL tank, the chamber is way too large to produce decent flavour.

Golden Greek atomisers have always been really good MTL tanks. The same applies for the Kayfun, with the V3 mini being a favourite.

Right now, I'm loving the Nectar tank by AmerPoint, which a very nice fellow recommended to me, while we were discussing issues with our Theorems. It is a genesis style tank and the flavour is just out of this world, probably the best I've ever had. And this of course makes sense as the chamber is closest to your mouth and the vapour doesn't have to travel through a long chimney.

In similar fashion, I've just ordered the Fodi F2 tank by HCigar. It's cheap as it is produced in China, however it seems like a decent attempt.

Subtank supply. Free shipping and only took 2 days from Kentucky to Pennsylvania. I got both mine in SS for $29.99.$ 30.99 for the black.Been told it is hard to see the JFC on the black so stuck with the SS.

Good Deal.

I've had my Eye on the Merlin. Might have think about it for the coming 4th of July Sales.

The hurricane is a outstanding flavor RTA, as good as Kayfun (I've had them all including mini v3) or squape R(s) (have several). The hurricane produces on par or better. If you haven't had one hard to compare.

I know that Taste is Subjective. And dependent on Many Factors.

But how would you rate the Merlin "in general" for Flavor?

It puts out great flavor. I like the flavor aspect better than the original Serpent, which used to be my favorite single coil RTA.

The Merlin sounds like something I would Definitely Like. Because I like to run Single Coil set-ups for Flavor.

I think I will have to place it Higher on my To Buy List.

Got some contenders for you guys to advise on.

1. A nicely made Kayfun V3 PLus clone.
2. Serpent
3. Serpent Mini

Any more you'd like to add?

I know the above are used mainly by sub ohm enthusiasts but does it help if I were to build my coils to be in the 1.2-1.5 ohm range? I only want to try single coil builds for now. And preferably tanks that do not run throughout juice really quick.

The only actual reason you might have for going sub ohm is if you have a mechanical mod. That is basically a flashlight. A battery and on/off switch. (except an atomizer instead of the bulb). As far as I know, you can build anything a sub ohmer can on a regulated mod, but better. Regulated mods and higher ohm values mean you can get faster ramp up times than a sub ohmer can.

Things to consider....

Resistance wire length 167.5 mm (roughly 9 inches of 28ga wire)
Number of wraps 31.44 (wraps per coil..) thinner ga wires use less space than the lower ga ones.

— rounded to "full wraps" 31 (2.96 Ω)
— rounded to "half wraps" 32/31 (3.01 Ω)
**Resistance per coil 3 Ω **remember, dual coils in parallel the resistance is halved. Completed build will be about 1.5 ohm**

Heat flux@ 15 W 44 mW/mm² (amount of heat coming from coil.. this is low here, or a cool vape)
Heat capacity (each coil) 44.31 mJ/K (determines the ramp up of a coil... how long it takes the coil to heat. Lower number means faster ramp up. This is why you see sub ohm builders blow out over the coils before taking the draw.. to allow the coil to heat.)
Leg power loss 3 %- (power loss due to legs *where coil attaches to +/- posts.*)

so when building... consider your watts.. which is how much power your mod can produce. Consider the heat coming off the coil, and the ramp up time.. and of course the space you have on your deck.

and also.. anything a sub ohm vaper can build, you can build with lower gauge and less power demand for a regulated mod.

Try the bachelor nano with the MTL kit...very smooth.
OR
Kayfun V4, clone or the real thing depends on your budget

The Bachelor MTL kit must me a new thing - is it available separately? I was an early adopter of the full-size version of this tank b/c I liked the build deck, but I couldn't get a good MTL vape from it, so it's in the Dammit Drawer.

My go-to RTAs at the moment are the Bellus, Goliath V2 and the Aqua V2. The Bellus and the Goliath V2 come with plugs, but on the Aqua V2, I have to pack a little cotton in the juice channels on one side to make it single coil. The Bellus has the best combination of flavor and ease of use. The Aqua V2 has great flavor, but the wicking is fiddly and it's not top fill. The GV2 has the best flavor, IMO, but a it's kind of a PITA to mess with - very small build deck and, on mine, at least, taking off the top cap to fill the tank loosens the chimney so that the juice flow control ring won't turn, so I have to remove the build deck and fill from the bottom.

Actually, my favorite set up at the moment is the Triton V2 with the Vaporesso cCell coil head (.9 ohm Kanthal). The various Aspire coil heads are good, too, but the ceramics seem to last longer. I love the design of this tank - best top fill I've tried, and works very well for MTL. Unfortunately, I've heard that the RBA head is terrible, and under the present circumstances, it may not be wise to invest in a tank that requires a pre-made coil.
