I'm not technical, still don't have a solid handle on ohms vs volts vs wattage vs blah blah blah :), but I do know what I like and what I want. For me personally I could never get into the "ego" groove. Have one kit in my drawer and have given one away... Nor would I want anything bigger than the bp. Just not my style. For me the Ipro has hit my sweet spot. I love the diameter of it. It is a hair on the long side, but I can live w/that real easy :). If you made something that diameter but shorter, I think it would appeal to alot of ppl. I would rather have something the od of the ip and longer batt life than something slimmer and less batt life. I don't see how you could go wrong with a set up like that. Just my :2c:

Still tossing around designs , up to 4 now LMAO !

Any more luck with boosting circuits? I don't like the idea of them conceptually--they strike me as too much of a band-aid--but if that band-aid meant the compact, one-battery package that had me so enthused the first time I heard about this project, I'd happily carry a spare battery in my other shirt pocket.

I have a 4.8V, 600mAh NIMH that's 2.625" long; not much of a boost needed.

OK this is my new design , 2 x 16340 Powerizer batts , same electronics as the BP and IP same batts as the BP so same specs , 18mm diam. 0.72"( same as the IPro ) x 4 " long tip to tip , so IP diameter and shorter then the BP . View attachment 66822
Back lit clear button with a Blue led , same wheel as the IPro

This sounds awesome. I tried to keep up with all the tech talk that followed this post, but just couldn't follow all it all. So in short, are we still looking at something like this?? SS sounds awesome as well! And February/March will make it a nice B-day present for me!

Well if you use the Powerizer batts , For a kit I have to find a low cost charger and set of batts to keep it on target price wise. the Batts+charger are more then the unit cost right now ! If you have the batts and charger then it is a great deal IMO

Powerizer batts rock!

very nice design, just a bit taller than a joye 1,000 mah battery, for comparison

now about that button ... I was typing this while you were posting, but it still applies

as long as you're still tossing around ideas, here's my $ 0.02

I never saw or used an IP before I bought, I was sold on the performance, and no complaints about that ... I posted a rave review, but after using the IP, I've got a few nit-picks that maybe can be incorporated into the new shortie model

the damn button ... now I'm not a small guy, 6' 240, and my hands/fingers aren't overly meaty ... I play guitar so I'm not ham-fisted by any means ... but that button is waaay small for a man, imho ... I really miss the e-go sized button

I'm using a long-ish cart on my IP and I have to juggle the thing to get my fingers in position because the IP is bottom heavy with just a cart on top ... I suppose using a tank adds enough weight up top where it is more balanced, but with a light weight cart, etc, I have to fiddle with it to get my finger on the button

flipping the IP over and firing the button with my thumb is even worse ... I usually have to press the button with my thumbnail

finding the button without looking is hit or miss ... I've tried to fire the adjustment wheel more than a few times

I realize you're working with limited space, but a larger and taller e-go sized button would be most welcomed, imho ... I'm so frustrated with it that I've considered asking if you could mod it for me ... it would be worth the wait for me

I've even thought about just adding a glop of silicone or permatex on top of the button to make it easier to feel, find and fire ... the slick feel tube makes for more juggling to find the button ... I've seen the cigar tubes, too bulky, so I may use a tight leather wrap or rubber tape to get a better grip and isolate the button

that's my main complaint, and it is very frustrating for me ... however, the excellent performance over-rides my aggravation with the button, but just barely ... the IP itself is too long to carry comfortably in my shirt pocket, but I'm getting used to it ... it is un-balanced, but that only affects my finding and firing the button ... as I say, these are nit-picks and I know you don't mind hearing about 'em if it might make the next model better

yes BuzzKill, I would send it back if you would/could mod the button somehow (for a fee of course) ... it is that aggravating ... I don't expect it can be changed, so I'm going to do something with it myself or I'll stop using it out of frustration ... and hope the new shortie has a better button

it is nice but would also end up firing in your pocket unless the button will be recessed with the ego type button. what would be interesting is if the 5-click on/off function the ego now has is incorporated with the Envy :p

Honolulu, Hi
I COMPLETELY forgot about something. There IS a possibility of using a single battery. From what i've read and from watching a vaping show, Evolv (makers of the darwin and upcoming "Kick"), will be selling their tech to modders that want to implement it into their mods. It'll be the same tech as used in the Kick but with solder points for other features you want. Not sure on the full details but that could possibly change the mod all together.

Whatever I make it will be just like the BP or IP as far as vape does , the smaller unit will have lower battery time than a BP but
I personally much prefer reduced runtime to voltage drop lol - we're on the same page.

blah blah The Kick.
Too bad you have to pull your whole mod apart to adjust.. Fail.
