So I just got an Itaste svd along with multiple boxes of new cartos, an RBA, (new batteries for the SVD) some ejuice, some wick and wire, and a new tank...
No matter what I use... all I get is a burning taste.
I can go down to the lowest settings and it still just tastes like burning... what can I do?

(With the RBA I can get one or 2 good hits... and then tastes like burning.. no matter what voltage/wattage... Same goes with the tank if I let it sit for about 10 minutes...)

So, everything tastes burnt at 3 watts or 3.3 volts. You've got cartos, an RBA and a tank. What is the tank? Name and manufacturer, or post a link to it please.

First let's talk about cartos. They have to be primed properly or they burn very easily and once burnt they always taste burnt. Here's a link to Baditude's carto priming guide. There's a lot more on his blog about cartos too. If you don't like this methods, Google 'carto filling condom method' and you'll find out how to do that.

Which RBA is it? If you are using SS wick shorts become an issue that generally makes for burnt hits. Here is eHuman's blog and tutorial on how to wick, wire and get rid of shorts with the AGA-T using SS wicks. Do not pass getting rid of shorts until they are gone and you would be well on your way.

Yes. Ryedan made some excellent points.

Priming a cartomizer takes a little practice. It's not difficult, nowhere near as difficult as mastering a rebuildable device. There's not a lot of science or research involved, just method and practice.

The best way I can describe properly priming a carto is this: don't count the drops. The "drop count" doesn't matter because e-liquid comes in all viscosity levels. Super thick to super thin. I've found that super-thin e-liquid (80/20, 70/30, all PG) floods cartomizers pretty easily. Super thick e-liquids have wicking issues. But after time, you'll get your technique down.

How I tell laymen and noobs: hold your carto at an angle. Drip a drop into the polyfill, doing your best to avoid the center air hole, and rorate your carto N E S W (north, east, south, west, clockwise, whatever) with each and every drop. After ten, fifteen, twenty drops (depending on the viscosity of your juice), give it a really hefty, stern thermometer shake. I mean hard. Put inertia into it. Don't limp wrist it. Keep doing this. Keep an eye on the little hole at the bottom of your carto (assuming it's a "replacement DCT tank carto" with a hole and flanges). Repeat the drip/flick over and over until finally, on (what should be) your final flick, juice finally comes out of the little hole at the bottom. By then the carto should be sufficiently saturated and primed. Then insert it into your tank and fill the tank.

A carto filling tool is HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended.

thank you guys all for the replies!
I was actually out doing a bunch of research and found that I could have been doing all the things you guys said..
I primed a carto correctly (not a replacement dct btw xD) and no burn
I rebuilt my RBA and actually gave it a little more airflow also and that stopped burning as well.
I will look more in to the shorts as well
thank you all for your replies!
