Well I got a nice little haul Yesterday, and have some more juice coming on Thursday But for now just a few questions on this mod, tank , and Sub Ohming in general.

Been Years since I bought my first "true" mod Which was a MVP v2, which I have currently been using with a nautilus mini tank around 10-11 watts or so, and it has been great. But I wanted another mod and wanted to try the Sub Ohm world, as even if I don't like sub ohm, I still have a great mod for 15 watt tanks :D

I ended up getting:

- Alien 220 kit w baby beast
- Cleito 120 w/ 5 pack coils ( to try the Higher wattage sub ohm tanks )
- Efest LUC v4 charger
- 4 Sony VTC5 Batteries

Was a little intimidating yesterday , but now getting used to it, as well as the certain wattage I like, whats too hot etc. And man, it really is a whole new world compared to MTL on the Nautilus... Obviously. But the flavor is... Not so much heavier, but you get so much more of it, but in a different way. The Nautilus still gives great flavor tho, but it sooooo much different

ANYWHO.. To the point

- 2 times so far after I put the BB on the mod, the mod realized it was there, but when I fired , I got nothing.. Everything was tighton the tank, tank was tight on the mod, but nada... Unscrewed the tank , screwed it back on, and it works fine.. odd

- On the ALien does the Amps monitor have anything to do with the battery, or is that amperage to the coil

- My mod on the lower middle row says PCB, while others say different.. Where is that in the settings menu

- Sometimes the BB will spit and crackle... NO specific time or liquid level , Very random.. Currently Im using the v8-t8 coil with the 4 separate wicks

- Currently I can see for sure that different liquids require different wattage, ( yes the 4 flavors I've ran already are all on the Fruity/clear side , all 3 mg nic, all 70vg/30) ranging from about 55-75watts , and once I find the sweet spot, this lil BB tank works awesome.

- And the most important thing at the moment.. Whether this is coincidence or no.... about an hour after I started on this BB , and sub ohming, I started to get a headache .. The back of the head annoying ( dehydrated headache ) that never seems to go away.. I drink 2 gallons of water a day as is, so I'm ALWAYS hydrated. My nic is 3mg, and I went thru about 3 tanks on the BB ( so about 8ml or so per day, in the past 2 days ) which would put me around 24 mg nic per day, vs about 2-3 tanks per day on the Nautilus mini at 12 mg on the same juice which would be about 24-36 ml.. Im lost on this one

Otherwise, I really like everything alot.. Just hope the headaches aren't something just related to me and I can keep moving forward to quit the stinkies..

PCb is the temp of the board inside the mod.

Yes the crackling and spitting are completely normal... you might have to go up a little smidge on your watts. What coils are you using on the BB by the way? I realize the .15 v8 coils do this more regularly than the Q2 .4 ohm.

What version are you on on the alien? I'm on 1.2.11 and it hasn't had any problem reading the tank since I updated it.

I'll try to answer these in order.

    1. Earlier versions had an issue with misfiring, but that problem was supposed to have been fixed. It could be a tiny issue with the 510 not making a complete connection.
    2. If I'm not mistaken, the amps on the screen is what's to the coil.
    3. The lower middle will read watts if the mod is in temp control mode, pcb if it's in wattage mode.
    4. The spitting is normal.
    5. If you're not dehydrated the headaches could be because of a little too much nic, especially since you're new to sub-ohm vaping.

The 220 Alien is my favorite mod out of the 8 I have, and IMO, it's better even than my GX350.

I agree with Dyanaprajna on the head ache likely coming from too much nic. If it is it should go away quickly once you stop vaping a few minutes. Just slow your vaping a bit to cure it or go with lower nic juice.

I have noticed that when the Alien thinks you've changed atty's it will ask if it is the old or new atty and won't fire until you answer the question. Unlike my other mods though it does not keep the question visible on the screen after you've stopped pushing the fire button. So you get no vape, stop firing, look at the screen only to see a black blank screen.

1.0.2 is the version on the Alien .. SO I'm guessing Im a few revisions behind?

The Atty, coil, point where the coil screws into the top piece, all are tight... IMO sometimes maybe too tight? Its quite the beeotch to unscrew the tank the few times I did to check the coil.. To me it seems I should be more concerned about making sure the coil to base is tight, VS. screwing the coil to the top piece?

Speaking of the tank, Love it so far.. Only thing is the airflow is a bit sticky , and often times turns? starts to unscrew the entire bottom.. Other times its fine.. Makes me thing I maybe tightened the tank to tight where the coil meets the top piece?

I' currently using the V8-T8 .15 coil. ( reading .147 ) the one with 4 coils , well 8, but 4 actual wicks, and am vaping anywhere from 60-70 watts. Thinking about trying the .2 ohm V8-T6 sextuple coil as a few top reviewers have said it has great flavor and lasts a while

Excited for my new juices tomorrow so I can open up the cleito 120. Got some Cosmic fog ( nutz ) , Vista Vapors - ( wild berry ), and some stuff by Ruby Roo ( Myee and Blue slushie ) and I believe most of those are Max vg or 80+.. All 3 mg nic.. I dont think Ill buy more until I see if the headaches go away, Maybe I need to drop to 1.5mg as I seem to be vaping quite a bit more with sub ohming

I'm sure more things will pop up, But once again you all have been very helpful!!

    Thanks again!
    Matt

    Haha , ok thanks!

gonna download all the software and check everything out, so if/when a new update does come up I'll be ready

Not sure what software you mean, but IF you want to apply a firmware update, make sure it's for your B firmware on your mod. Another suggestion is remember the updates are not required. It isn't like a Windows update. you're messing with embedded code that is the entire instruction set to make the mod work. Look at the features an update offers. Update only if you feel you MUST have those new features.

Me? I don't do a firmware update just to be able to add a custom screen/logo. It has to really matter. Sometimes it doesn't.

I just meant the Nuvoton Upgrade link.. but I see theres not much there, I'm assuming everytime there is a new update, they will post up a new link? If that makes sense? BUt regardless, Mine already has the most recent update

Not worried about features, but the only reason I wanted to DL is because I saw that some things might be of some importance. I believe I saw something about misfiring fixes etc, actual important things to better the mod

Batteries are getting low, after about 2 days.. Started vaping it Monday around noon. usually vaping around 60-70 watts.. I'm guessing that is about average?

Also maybe a dumb question that will be obvious in time, But is there an actual voltage meter on the mod for the batteries, so I could see they are around 3.5v, then pull them and charge them up? Or do the battery icons flash or anything when they get too low?

I generally vape mine at around 70 watts, and my batteries last around 2 days as well. I haven't let my batteries get low enough yet to see how the mod reacts, so I couldn't answer that question. The misfiring issue was fixed after it first came out, so it shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Yea Im using the vtc5 batteries, and around 65 watts which seems to me a good spot for me, a good 2 days... This is my first time draining the batteries, as I thought there was an indicator that popped up when they got around 3.5-3.6 ( would be a nice feature to have where you could set the battery voltage where you would like a warning to come on. ) But honestly , not a big deal as I'm sure you'll learn in time..

My battery indicators on the mod were pretty low, and when I threw them on the charger, they were at 3.40 So I'll just be sure to throw them on when the indicator is around 20% vs 5%

    Hi MJ
You normally should try not to over tighten much of anything on an atty. I know the BB can be a bit hard to unscrew and you never know which end of the coil it will unscrew from but tightening it too much will compress your seals and shorten their life. Though the BB doesn't have this problem some tanks when screwed together to tight end up being almost impossible to take apart and a lot of the seals are not improved by tightening. Finger tight is more often enough.

Thank you.. Yea its just the little things that I'll learn over time.. Some things are common sense, but Its just the little things of learning something new.

At least they give extra o rings , for those of us who drive right by common sense sometimes :)

OK, so I got some new max vg juice from Ruby Roo

    - Myee
    - Blue slushie
    - Watermelon lemonade

Is there anything I should be doing different on the Baby beast, VS a 60/40 or 70/30 juice, as far as wattage and airflow? I usually vape 60-70vg but didn't know if the thicker stuff might need some changes, like closing off the airflow to get a tighter draw , pulling in more liquid

Also, With high vg would a higher wattage ( 100-150) tank like a cloud beast , cleito 120, etc be better than a smaller 50-80 watt tank, based it being bigger, able to heat up the liquid more , without giving you that hot vape, and usually bigger wicking area?

I also have a couple questions.. Two things that bug me and want to make sure I'm not missing out.

    1. In watt mode, is there a way to lock the watt setting, so it doesn't accidentally change?

    2. When switching tanks, I click the fire button, so it prompts new/old to reset ohms when putting on new tank. Sometimes I forget, any way to force the ohms reset?
