so I got my first box mod, it's a kangertech dripbox. got it at a good price and bought it from someone I could trust. HOWEVER, everything taste like burning ..... I've replaced the batteries, the coil, and instead of using the squonk I used a tank. everything tastes horrible. I've vaped out of a few regulated boxes and the flavor was awesome. I did a test run with the juice I bought today on a regulated box and it was awesome. but it still sucks out of my box. should I trade it for a regulated box or just ger my money back?

So you used a tank AND you believe the battery device is responsible for the bad taste?

IMO - Trade it for something less complicated.
Perhaps a more basic "beginners" kit might work better for you; Innokin endura or Joye AIO.

How much are you (still) smoking and what nicotine level are you using?

Cheers

...so I went back to the RDA the kranger came with put a new coil in there soaked it and there was no flavor at all. just metallic ....
Always clean a new atty, especially a Chinese one, to remove any machine oil. That was probably what transferred the metallic taste. I use an isopropyl alcohol & dish soap solution in an ultrasonic cleaner.

As Izan suggested, the battery isn't the cause of your problems, the atty is.

Off the grid
Priming the Cleito, I usually juice up the coil with a few drops in the center, fill the tank, let it sit for 10 minutes than do a few pulls with the airflow closed. From there, I slowly ramp up the wattage, starting at 20, puffing a few times, until I reach my target wattage of 42. No long pulls until I see bubbles coming to the top, which tells me its wicking properly. You can burn a new coil pretty easily if you don't give it time to saturate and wick.

LOL...Not sure what device we're talking about.
My post was regarding the Kanger Dripbox (mech) and the included replacement coil heads.
I haven't tried to use them yet, but did notice they are overstuffed with cotton. Thought these would never wick properly. When I do try them, I'll rewick after cleaning everything with alcohol.
There are much better BF attys tho, IMO.

Something I'm curious about. Since you said it tastes burnt. You mentioned you used the coil it came with but again what ohms is it at? Maybe you're running at too high in terms of watts. Also being burnt, maybe you used too much cotton? You could've choked the coil. Watts could be a problem, especially since you mentioned having the same problem in a tank.

Then you brought up the metallic taste in another post in this thread. Did you wash the RDA before using it?
I've personally never had a metallic taste before with vaping.

I used the coil that came in the package with it. made sure it was nice and moist so I wouldn't get a burnt wick.

-0- understanding of unregulated power and Ohms law

Best to pick up a Regulated mod and learn to build a proper coil setup in a bottom feed Atomizer for the Dripbox.

    Dripbox heads are Dual Coil
    At .5ohm, 4.2v
Single Coil - 35 watts power on the coil
    Dual Coil - 35/2 = 17.5 watts per coil
Much less Heat through each coil

Yeah this is the unregulated box. there's no way for me to figure out what watts I'm firing at.
