It was probably a case of one of the parts inside the JC coming loose as they do from time to time. The parts diagram that comes with the authentic is all over the place and you probably could have just taken the deck apart and reseated everything easily. Anytime you mess with the 510 pin, theres a chance that parts #9 and #10 will come loose, and unless you took the atty apart and threaded it wrong (or it was done wrong at the 'factory'), it would be very hard to actually strip the deck threads that go into the base.

I have two more Tobeco KV4s coming from California for $9.99 each with free shipping. If for nothing else, I'll have backups and instant parts if needed.

The threads on any of these will probably need to be worked back and forth to polish the threads for smooth operation. Thread polishing is obviously not done at the factory. They get smoother with disassembly and reassembly. Work them back and forth while you have them apart until they turn smoothly.

I'd be surprised if they restocked, since they said they were selling at a loss to free up space.

Yeah someone in the thread emailed VR and that was their exact response. I shouldve jumped on it but I already have 3 and 2 of em are stainless already, gets confusing remembering what juice is in which one hehe..

Evan - being one of those people, I can wholeheartedly agree - it kinda cracks me up too. I think my clone days are done, gonna stick with my Lemo til I can afford a legit erlkonigin :D

I had enough trouble setting up the authentic Kayfun v4. Got it through the post in the morning and had it set up by 9pm. Didn't start working on it at 5pm though. Built 3 different coils with three types of wire before i settled on 32awg during which time i had to empty the tank as many times too. Had to improvise and add a tiny rubber ring from my Russian spares to the 510 pin because it wouldn't fire on my Provari 2.5 with my SvoeMesto Provari ring. I probably could have used one of those rubber rings that sits at the base of the screw driver that comes with it. So anyway i got the jc figured out after that, having it open too much floods the coil etc, seems to work best when it's only open by between 360 and 450 degrees. All that was left was the airflow, that was the easy bit.

Definitely need a P3 now though. Couple of weeks maybe.:)

Got my Tobeco KV4 order today. I ordered two for backup and parts interchange, if necessary. I just opened the first box and it's clean and no smell of oil. They just smell like SS usually smells and feel clean to the touch just like the first one. One difference I noticed was that the center contact protrudes from the 510 connector half a MM or so, just like it should. The first one I ordered the center contact was flush with the threads. It works fine with my iSticks, but I like some protrusion for good contact in case the contact in the mod is wider than the screw and causes a short.

The $9.99 deal was a steal. I wonder what they are replacing them with in their stock.

I bought 4 with that $9.95 deal and now that they're out of stock I wish I would've got more!

Just got a Tobeco Silverplay today to go with my Tobeco Kayfun v4. The Silverplay base on the Kayfun is NICE -- it might even end up beating out my Subtank Mini as my go-to. Good flavor, nice open airflow. The only downfall is a bit of leaking with top fill but filling it through the holes in the evap chamber (ala Aqua v2) works just fine.

These were my first two Tobeco buys but I'm impressed with both. I think from now on if I go the clone route I'm gonna hunt down a Tobeco instead of buying from FastTech.
