Max, are YOU feeling any better?

HI hun!
I'm guessing I'll need to go get another epidural shot but this one is helping some.
I'm really noticing it when I stand up from a sitting position, I'm not getting the extreme pain that I was getting.
Now I stand right up and I'm not all bent over dragging my left leg, it was like I had a long steak knife running down my left backside going all the way to me ankle.
I can still feel it but it's not as bad.

Thanks. I really would like to ask someone really in the know in AA how they can say the program works for everyone, because I just can't see how it could for people with anxiety problems, particularly people for whom alchohol was their crutch in social situations.

It is my understanding that AA as well as many 12 step programs are designed to help one search oneself for the solution to whatever problem it is one is having by following the 12 steps of recovery. This process seems to actually take one on a journey into oneself to discover hidden character defects that manifest themselves in addictive and destructive behavior. By following the 12 steps in ones daily life a person is led to the discovery of how to live life on life's terms instead of trying to force life into ones own terms i.e. Peace of Mind.

To Add: The twelve steps might not remove the anxiety but it may show one what causes it and how to deal with it in a constructive not destructive manner.

Yes. That I understand. But the large part s go to meetings go to meetings, we must all do this together. And if you already know those types of social situations are your problem, if you are basically an introvert, and that adds stress, if "together" was your drinking trigger, how do they really expect it to help? And the other thing they say is dont do what you did when you were drinking. I don't know. I just think there needs to be some awareness that that isn't the only way and it's not a methods that will work for everyone. There is a definite feeling there that if you aren't doing it through them and with them you are not really doing it, ISWIM.

I am not a expert on any 12 step program. I was just voicing my perception of the twelve steps. It seems it is in human nature to push ones beliefs onto others especially if it has worked for them. Whether AA does this or not, I do not know but it seems to have worked for many, many people. I do know that one of the sayings they use is, Give it a try and if it does not work for you we will gladly refund your misery.

Bless you, Erin!
Each of us needs to find our own way to a certain extent.
If you've found what is working for you to stay off the alcohol - keep doing it.
