Yep, I'm back and just about recovered from jet lag. 'Twas a 24 hour trip door to door - just about did me in. All is back to normal, I'm glad to say. Found a great nursing home for my mum, and she seemed to settle in well. Aunt died while I was on the plane there, so didn't get to see her, but did travel to Wales for the funeral and saw relatives I hadn't seen for years. And grandbaby Lily is wonderful, got much bigger while I was away. DIL doing well too. Ah, the peaceful life! I'm SO happy to be home - thanks for thinking of me guys.

Now, I have a question. I need to buy another tank - my two Bolts and one Vivi just aint making it. I've narrowed it down to three choices:

1) I could play it safe and get another Vivi Nova. Kinda boring choice, though.

2) The Titan looks good. Holds more, but that's not a huge deal for me. The leaking issues some were having seemed to be solved - is that correct? Yiddles, I know you were one who had a leak - is that all fixed now?

3) I am intrigued by that new Spitfire thingy. Anyone got one yet? And, dummy that I am, can anyone tell me the point of that top tank? You don't put juice in there, right? Sure, it looks cool, but does it have a function?

Any and all thoughts are welcome 'cos I just can't make up my mind!

So glad all is well :)

Got the titan fixed, scavenged an o-ring from the base of a vivi nova 1.0, put it on top of the o-ring that was on the base of the titan. Screwed it all together and sucess! No more leaks. Now I'm loving them and ordered a couple more.

Splitfire looks real interesting, but nobody has one yet. Maybe in todays vapemail. Bad is supposed to be posting a video tomorrow night 'cause we're all curious.

Got lots of pretty color tubes for the vivi nova now, so not so boring :D

And once again, WELCOME HOME

Hi all - kinda divin' in after readin' the first 10 pages and last 2.

Wow! Morganmeltz - you've had a plate brimmin over! Hope you've had a chance to rest now ... so sorry for you loss.

Hello to Yiddle - fancy meetin' you here!

I was lookin at atty's on the Got Vapes website - I need somethin to drip w/ for taste testin ... The contact us page suggested askin here ... so I figured I'm a dummy so this might be the spot to ask the question ... apologies if not.

I would like to know if this atty would be the one to use / will it fit the Twist. It's of similar ohms to the mini vivi so I figured I'd get similar taste no matter what hardware was used. Thank yoose ... :D
GotVapes HYBRID Fuse Multi Use 510 Atomizer - 2.5ohm - SS [gotvapes-HYBRIDFUSE-2.5ohm-SS] - $6.45 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

heh could be worse - i wasnt paying attention once and filled a vision from my eye drop bottle. took me a little bit to figure out why it tasted off and i wasn't getting hardly any vapor

I know this is way back ... but I had to chuckle too - I filled a coupe cartos w/ allergy drops ... Note to self: don't use the same type of bottle that's regularly used for other things - or at least put a big black * on it some where ....

Hi Kico - welcome, and thanks for the kind thoughts. And yes, this is a good place to ask questions.

Sorry, I can't help you with the attys - I don't use them myself. I had trouble cleaning them between taste testing, and now use a stardust to do that. Not ideal, I know.

I'm sure somebody else will be along soon who can help you, but I did want to stop by and say hello.

I acually use the Eternity now for all my juice testing. Bit high priced for tasting but it cleans so easy and thoroughly just rinsing it off under warm water. I put 4-5 drops on the coil and wick. Do my tasting, rinse, dry and repeat.

Morgan...

I use mostly vivi novas. I did get a Titan...it is okay, but the flavor just wasn't there for me...gave it to a friend who loves it. It held more than the vivi nova....but it just had an "odd" taste to me. I just got a Splitfire today but haven't tried it yet. Those who have are putting out very positive reports on it tho.

OK, did a little research. I couldn't find too much information, but people do seem to like these. And yes, it will definitely fit your twist.

Hope this helps - sorry i couldn't do more.

Just a quick update for my fellow dummies. The most trouble free and reliable clearos still seem to be the stardusts and the vivi novas.....

Any additions, folks?
The Split fire so far seems about on par with the vivi nova for fiddle free use. I also still love my BC Phoenix, although I have not yet opened up the new and improved versions.

Are noobies dummies too? :p

So I quit smoking back on Jun.15.2012, and up until about 3 weeks ago, I got by on the gas station rechargeable 510 type e-cigs, but I have now bought a little ego clone and a VV Lambo (lavatube). I have now successfully burned out my original 3 clearomizers and DCT type tank. I understand that these parts wear out, but think I may have hastened their demise by putting them on the Lambo and jacking up the voltage past 4.0v.

My question on the little ego type clone is regarding it's lower voltage output (~3.3-3.5v) and resistance on the carto/clearomizers... If I am reading the voltage/resistance chart that I have seen floating around correctly, I should try and stay with stuff that has a 1.7-2.4 ohm resistance range for best performance??? I am currently running a mini Nova with a 2.4 head on it for the last 4 days and that seems to be working fine, but contemplating what I should do when the replaceable cartridge head on it wears out...

Compared to analogs, which you had to replace after every usage, I'd say you are doing great. :) Keep in mind that this stuff is not designed to last forever. Every time that wire is heated it gets weaker somewhere and eventually it goes pop. Although I can not remember the last time I lost a coil due to normal usage. Most of mine see their demise when I do overzealous dry burns. I pretty much totally ignore the resistance and put whatever on anything and adjust the voltage to suit my taste. But if the resistance is too high and you put it on 3.3V the vapor will be greatly diminished. But some folks like that. It's really personal preference but I think 1.7-2.4 Ohm is a good range for low voltage batteries.

Hey Robtest - welcome to the wonderful world of vaping!

I mostly use the regular Ego batteries you are talking about. Occasionally I use a higher voltage, but most of the juices I like actually taste better at low voltage.

I use either the 2.4 or the 2.8 ohm heads on my Vivi Nova or Stardust clearomisers. I do prefer 2.4 ohm, but can't always get them. I've tried the 1.8 ohm, but my juices taste burned using them. Yours may not of course, and it's perfectly OK to use them - they won't self destruct or anything.

I clean and dry burn my heads every five days or so, and I haven't lost one yet. I have a couple that have been going for three months now! The wicks are getting a little frayed and tatty looking, but they still vape great.

The miniNova with a 2.4 ohm head seems to work just great on my ego clone, so I will probably standardize on that. I have the 2.4ohm head on my regular Nova too, but oddly it reads 2.7 ohms on the Lambo test... The mini tests to the listed 2.4 ohms.

Morganmeltz, would you share you cleaning procedure pls. :) I tried it on my clearomizers to see if it would help, but I think I probably ruined them by putting them on the Lambo and "playing" with the higher voltage setting above 4.0v... I was soaking them in a small baggie with some tequila in it as I didn't have any vodka handy... I knew it might flavor my vaping, but like the taste of tequila so wasn't concerned... LOL

Sure thing.

I take everything apart, and let soak in hot water for a while, rinse through a few times, and shake out as much water as I can. I find hot water works better than alcohol as most of the crud seems to be burnt sugars collecting on the coil. If I'm in a hurry, I'll rinse through with some kind of alcohol afterwards to hasten drying. I then blot off the wicks, and let everything dry.

Then I do a dry burn. I'll screw just the coil/wick head part on the Ego for this. (Sometimes it won't screw on properly, so then I'll attach the head to the stem, and screw that onto the Ego.)

To dry burn, fire up the battery in about 5 second bursts until all the vapor comes off and the coils glow red across all their width. Be careful - if you fire it for too long at a time you can kill the coil. I haven't done that (yet), but do make sure you have a new head in reserve just in case.

Finally, I let the coil cool down, rinse it out to wash off any ash, let dry again, put everything back together, and I'm good to go.

Please let me know if you don't understand this or have any other questions.

Okay, I followed the instructions and think I did everything correctly. It does still work! woot woot... But it now reads 2.5 resistance (.1+ over pre-wash)... I might need a superDummy thread... LOL

And yes, it is true... This is all Ryno's fault!!! But it is cheaper than the 510 throw away cartos I was doing, and lots more fun! And it's true what he says in his siggy about addiction to batteries... I've seen the nipple clamps... :p
