It was the very first day for me, and from a Blu if you can believe that. I vaped like a fiend for the first half of the day and told myself I would try an analog just to compare the two. It tasted so bad to me after just half a day of vaping that I haven't looked back.

I think the trick is to find a juice you really like and a device that gives you a comparable feeling to your brand of analog. I smoked ultra light cigs, so I guess Blu was fine for me. Someone who smokes Reds or unfiltered would definitely want to go more ego, Lavatube or something along those lines. Just my 2 cents though.

Instantaneous. I was a die hard PAD smoker for many, many, many years. As soon as I received my Volt analogs went out the window, until my gear kinda crapped out on me one day and I had one - it tasted terrible. I'm actually quite surprised... but really it was love at first draw.

Best of luck, don't be hard on yourself.

I think the trick is not having any around. If you have a smoker in the house though, that can be difficult. I took a couple weeks or so. But then..... and only for awhile every time someone came over that was smoking I wanted just a puff. I did that on and off for a couple months, then I finally just told myself how silly that was because I could go days/weeks without one. Eventually the taste of the analogue became so putrid I couldn't take a puff. Now I really hate the smell of a smoker. Although I do love my friends that smoke, just not what they smell like. :)

After 40 years of 25 to 30 analogs a day, I had one on day one of vaping, then a puff on day two, and nothing since. I just found that analogs tasted like crap compared to vaping. Vaping became enough, and beautifully filled the void that quitting analogs creates. Hopefully soon, analogs will taste like crap for you too!!!

I was a 20cig per day smoker for 25yrs. It took me 5 days to fully convert. As the days grew, it became easier. I set the #cigs for each of the 5 conversion days. Days 1 & 2 - 5 cigs/day. Days 3 & 4 - 2 cigs/day. Day 5 - 1 last cig & the last one that I'll ever smoke. It wasn't all that easy but with a little willpower, I was able to get thru it. As the days grew, it became harder to smoke - tasted awful.

There has been some good advice from all the above - take your time - it's different for everyone & 2 increase your nic strength(24mg) for a couple of months to adjust to the new life. After your comfortable with vaping & the routines - then work slowly on reducing your nic strengths. You were a power smoker & that should be harder to quit than a 1/2pack / day smoker who smoked extra light cigs. You're in good hands here, there is plenty of support - you'll get there, just be patient & enjoy the ride. Best of luck............

It took me forever to switch over. I ordered my first kit in August, 2010. It was a cut-rate 510 and the batteries kept dying so I would just smoke an analogue when it ran out. I started ordering better equipment and although it did perform better, and I cut down from a pack to a half pack every day, I just could not get off the analogs. My friends and family would ask me: “Are you ever going to choose between the tobacco cigarettes and the electric ones?” It was getting embarrassing! I finally quit analogs for good on March 1st this year. I knew I would eventually switch over and I’m so glad I did.

One thing that really helped was, like others have mentioned, I found that switching from an atomizer and cart combo to just a cartomizer was a vast improvement, as was direct dripping.

I tried 510's two years ago and was down to about 7-10 smokes a day, once in a while when it was working well 2 or 3 a day, from easily over a PAD (maybe 1.5 a day) for over 20 years and too many when drinking or playing cards lol.

Just got a new kit to try again last wed, down to about 3 or 4 a day but would be less if I wasn't sharing a kit with the wife and we weren't taking turns sharing the charger, so once the battery dies I end up having analogs, which is why I guess I am in such a hurry to get something else so we can stop sharing lol.

This time around I am being active in the forum and asking lots of questions ( probably bugging the squigglie out of a few people ) and everyone has been pretty rocking with answering me.

Also the juices I am getting my hands on have made a big difference too!

So different paths for everyone but atleast we are on the path and we have a place like here to rest our tired feet and get support and guidance to continue on.

Took me 6-7 months, including a couple months where I stopped vaping completely. But cutting out the vaping quickly showed me how much better I felt even when I was going 50/50. Since November 1st I have smoked 3 packs in total. 1 because I had family issues a month after I quit the butts and I scurried back, and 2 when I was down to 2 batteries (one with a 3 hour run time) because of a large (and expensive) order of batteries having a 80% failure rate and the vendor not wanting to help me out so I needed a couple packs of smokes to tide me over until a different supplier could get some batts out to me. All in all I'm quite happy not smoking I feel better but find that I still cough a lot but everything else is better, no stink, tastebuds work again and I don't get winded walking up a flight of stairs ;)

No matter what, every ciggy you pass up is a win. Never get discouraged if you slide back a bit.

Good luck!

Hey mojojo

The Better half ( Wife ) and I are currently sharing 2 batteries and one charger, so from our experience make sure you have them all charged up before you part ways, otherwise uh oh :p

Congratz and the best to the both of you.

2 batteries  that must be quite the challenge, I go through at least 4 a day.. I better run to the store tomorrow if me and hubby gonna make it lol

35 yr pack a day freak out if I had 1/2 a pack left gotta run to the store, can't do anything without my butts smoker here. I started off with a bloog and 12mg and after 1 day I knew 12 mg wasn't going to cut it because I was hauling on that ecig like there was no tomorrow. So...I got some 18mg juice and found my nic level but I wanted more throat hit so I got an ego-t with a dual coil and bingo! :) Havent had a .... since. Personally (and maybe I'm wrong here) but if you still want an analog I'd suggest upping your nic juice even to 24mg (just get 1 bottle) and think about that throat hit that you're currently getting and the amt of vape. You may still want the .... because the ecig isn't giving you the same satisfaction as a ..... If you get the right combo for you it should give you the same satisfaction. When I found the right nic level, throat hit and vape amt there was no reason to go for the butts. Don't get me wrong. I realize there is an emotional connection to smokes and I was (like most everyone else here) one of those people that couldn't imagine life without them! It literally freaked me out to think of not having them with me...like chopping off an arm or something! If I can be smoke free for almost 6 mths and not want an analog, so can you :). Right now I'm vaping my provari with a stardust. Love it
