I've been saying i am going to get a generator for years,but never have.It's one of those things i never think about until i'm sitting in the dark,then i realize hey,i never did get that haha.
Back 10 years ago or so,we got hit with a big ice storm,and lost power for 5 days in the dead of winter.That one really reminded me that i needed to get one,but every store within 50 miles was sold out,i guess a whole bunch of people realized they needed one haha.

Same thing here... several years ago, we lost power for a week and a half because of a hurricane. Generators were impossible to find then, unless ya looked on craigslist... there, you could find them for 5X the price of a new one. Yeah... I still don't have one. Hahahaha

haha,yeah i had a neighbor who was "nice" enough to offer me his spare one for $300,thing is,his $300 generator was the same one that Harbor freight sells all the time for like $89 haha,one of those real small ones that doesn't power more than maybe a couple lights.As much as i hated to,i had to pass on that fantastic deal haha.

Nice fellow eh ... reminds of the saying about fences making the best neighbors or something along those lines, lol.

I'd like to have one too but I'd want one with all the trimmings ... cut into the main power proper with an appropriate transfer switch, etc. One of these days perhaps but man, those types of puppies aren't cheap.

Haha,yeah nice guy indeed haha.When i told him no way i was paying that,his response was "Desperate times call for desperate measures",i told him i'm not that desperate,i'll go stay with relatives until the power comes back on haha.
Yeah,i looked into one of those whole house generators about 6-7 years ago,and i think the cheapest i found then was like $10k,just a bit out of my price range haha.

What a turd, trying to take advantage of the situation to rip you off. Some of those generators at HF are actually pretty good but like you said, the small ones can't handle much and to jack the price up like that, well, it shows the type of person he is.

Yeah, they were more than I wanted to pay too ( by a large margin, lol ) and I wanted one with dual fuel capabilities to boot. However, when I win the lottery ... lol!

Yeah,when i do finally get one,it will most likely be from HF,they run really good deals on them a few times a year.They have a pretty good sized one that i think regular price is like $699 or so on,that i've seen a few times on sale for like $429,so one day that's the one i'll probably get,whenever someday comes haha.
I just hate the idea of putting out a big chunk of money that could go years without being needed,but as soon it happens,then i regret not buying it.
