I have a bunch of questions that my husband is asking me that I don't see any readily available answers for. So I'm gonna post them and risk looking idiotic.

1) Is there any sort of return policy on this stuff?
2) About how long does e-juice last, ie., 10ml is 30 analogs?
3) As a light smoker, is it going to cost me more to vape than smoke analogs? We're on a really, really tight budget, and he thinks $50+ is a lot of money to toss away on something I might not like.

I think those are the biggest issues. I'm ready to buy. I'm anxious to quit dealing with the aspects of smoking I don't like, the taste and smell (I know, why am I smoking, right?) On the other hand I adore the vapor of smoking, the feel of it, the hand to mouth routine. PLEASE HELP ME CONVINCE HIM this isn't a total waste of cash!

As a side note, I could see that when I have more $$$ this might become a very fun hobby. :D

Most retailers list a general liability issue regarding returns and exchanges on their site. However many retailers go above and beyond to make sure you are happy. The first issue is finding what model will suit you, and go with it.

On average, most people on the forums here seem to run through 1-4 ml of juice a day, depending on their habits. There was some kind of poll before. That said, if you are a light smoker, youre juice intake will be a lot less. I was a pack a day + smoker, and I go through about 2 ml a day.

Most of us WISH that we only spent 50 bucks on supplies. If you are like me, and many others, we went through various models and flavors to find our sweet spots.

Hope that helps. Post if you have any other questions.

I understand all of his issues. However, first how much is your life worth? Second if you can quit and be happy without smoking then that is cool too.

Return policies I can't imagine that it would be fair to expect anyone to take back a product you have put in your mouth unless it doesn't work. Most of the companies will replace your product if it doesn't. Cignot is one that is fairly cheap and I have heard that they will replace anything that is DOA.

Even a light smoker will save money over a period of time if you stick with it. I can only talk for myself but I have not had a smoke sense I got my kit and I smoked a lot. I am also very cheap I was a roll your own person and it will only be a short while before I break even and after that I will be saving money.

there are so many reasons to switch it's actually hard to know were to start or were to end for that matter. It's better for you and in the long run less expensive. You will get your sense of smell and taste back you won't be polluting the air with over 4,000 chemicals or putting them into your body. I can't say enough about how much I like vaping.

I have gotten a bunch of my friends into it and everyone has been a success story. One of my best friends wives has just started and has already thrown out her cigs and saved money.

Well anyway good luck and I am sure that most everyone on this site will help you in any way they can.

Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. - get the 510 no box kit! $35.00! and tastyvapor.us has $15.00 1 ounce bottles of liquid! i vape pretty heavy, and it will last me about 2 weeks. the ecig does have a learning curve tho! so u may spend a little more at first, but once u figure it out, you will DEFINITELY SAVE!!!!!! I've spent over $400 my first month, and if i didn't buy the peice of crap smoke anywhere fifty-one trio, i would have broke even already! I now use the 510, and it has worked wonders. I now despise the smell of smoke, and can't even ever picturing going back to them.

My best suggestion would be to look for someone who sells disposable e-cigs from the suppliers here- there are both 510 and 401 compatible ones for around $10, sometimes you can get free shipping for not much more (like by adding a couple more cartridges or a single bottle of juice to refill your starter carts). If you like it- great! You'll have a starter that you can easily get compatible parts for.
If you don't like it- not much harm done, 2-3 packs of smokes :p

Before I switched to vaping, I smoked 15-20 cigs a day (except when I was out drinking, I could burn through most of a pack in a long evening). I think most would describe the daily habit of under a pack to be fairly light, especially considering some around here used to smoke 3 packs or more a day.
I figure I use about 2ml of juice in a day, refilled in several cartridges overnight, and although I started with a bigger order (about $100), this lasted me over a month.
My brand, marlboro menthol lights, with tax cost over $7 a pack around here (more in grocery and many convenience stores). Even at 15 cigs a day, my first order paid for itself in about 3 weeks. I had enough liquid and empty carts in that one order to last almost 2 months.

I've since bought a lot of other equipment, and do-it-yourself materials, but I figure for my personal stash, I've still saved about $600-700 in the last 4 months and change.
Plus, even if you only break even, you're still going to feel a lot healthier- at least I know I do. My sense of smell and taste came back, my lungs cleared, and I generally have more energy.

Take the chance, you'll be glad you did.

1. Depends, but most have warranties if somewhat limited, to take care of faulty equipment.
2. Well 30ml lasts my husband about a week of heavy vaping. He was smoking close to 2 packs a day. He definitely vapes more than he smoked, but that is primarily because he vapes in the house and never smoked in the house.
3. It will probably cost more in the beginning, but it does taper off significantly. I just put our about $200.00 but the supplies will last the two of us for 6 to 8 months. No way I could buy cigs to last us that long for that amount.

I was a fairly light smoker and a 30ml bottle lasts me 3-4 weeks depending on how much I'm enjoying the flavor. I work a 40hr work week, so I vape a little during the day and on the drive to and from work. If you're getting a starter kit it should have enough to get you going. I started with the 901 and 801, but the 510 is highly recommended. Most places have the 510 starter for around $35.00.

I would suggest looking at how much you spend of cigarettes for a month and compare that price to your initial purchases, because most starter kits will cover you for at least a month. That is based on you reading the Wonderful World of Vaping in the New Members Section so you're prepared for the adjustment to vapor over smoke. Quite often referred to as the Learning Curve. You should also consider how much better your breathing will be. You will be putting a lot less chemicals into your lungs and should notice a difference in the first week. There is a lot more to quitting cigarettes than just the physical change. Your body will try and trick you into thinking symptoms are caused by the Personal Vaporizer when in reality it is your body withdrawing from all the chemicals that are produced from burning Tobacco. Some people react poorly to the liquid, me included. I use primarily VG liquid, so does my husband. Sorry for the novel, I've started rambling, so I'll stop now.

Dude, you're supposed to be helping to convince the hubby that this is a good idea. ;)

Seriously, though, this is far cheaper than chemotherapy. As a bonus, if you watch your spending and don't feel like you have to try *everything*, it's cheaper than smoking, too. It may take a little time and money to find what tastes best to you, but places with sample packs can help keep that fairly inexpensive.

Depending on where you buy, you can get a one ounce bottle of eliquid for roughly $15. If you figure an average of 3ml a day (since you don't know exactly how much you will use yet), that's ten days of vaping for $15. You'd have to be a really light smoker to spend that little on cigarettes. You will have to periodically replace atties or cartos (depending on which model you buy), but again, you can buy either for less than a single pack of cigarettes.

You may not immediately quit. Not everyone does. But, you should be able to cut down significantly right off the bat, which means that the money you're not spending on cigarettes will help pay for your startup costs.

There's a learning curve, so just be prepared to work through that; people here are great about answering questions. Any model recommended here should help you quit or cut down, and if you want to try a different model later, you'll have saved enough not buying cigarettes to justify the cost.

Always read and confirm the Terms of Sale and return policies with the supplier. Read reviews of suppliers and vendors in the Review section of the forum to see people's experiences.

2) About how long does e-juice last, ie., 10ml is 30 analogs?
Everyone is different. Vaping amounts differ as well a how much e-liquid people use. You won't know until you actually start vaping and get into a good routine. People who have been 2 pack a day smokers are sometimes satisfied with 18mg E-liquid, while others need 24mg, and still, others are satisfied with much less. This is the variable unknown.

3) As a light smoker, is it going to cost me more to vape than smoke analogs? We're on a really, really tight budget, and he thinks $50+ is a lot of money to toss away on something I might not like.
How much did you spend per month on cigarettes? If you have done enough reading and researching and you feel that vaping is something you will enjoy, and you are committed to transition from smoking to vaping, the cost per month can be a LOT less than cigarettes. It may take a little experimenting with different e-liquids and nicotine levels at first, but once you find your comfort zone, it's less expensive than smoking - and if you are able to quit smoking completely - aren't you worth it? :)

Welcome, aerinfirehair! It is a fun hobby :) It also tastes better, smells better and to me, it was life changing because I was able to completely quit a 1.5+ pack a day smoking habit, completely - when I started vaping.

The initial cost of a starter kit can be about $35.00 and a few different flavors of e-liquids to get you started will be enough for you to at least know if you like it and want to stick with it.

There is so much support here on the boards. If you encounter frustration or bumps in the road, there is always someone here to help you.

What e-cig appeals to you? What are you thinking about getting? I totally get the "tight budget" - I am saving so much money by vaping. I wish I knew about it sooner!

There are so many of us that have been able to leave the cigs behind. I would have been happy if vaping let me cut down a bit. I was thrilled that I didn't even have the desire to smoke once I started vaping.

Good Luck!! Keep posting and learning! I think it's worth a shot :)

Thank you everyone for your very thoughtful and considerate replies!

I see some clarification on my part is in order.

I guess by ya'lls rules I'm a fairly non-existant smoker. I smoke at MAX 5 cigarettes a day. Usually its closer to 2 or 3. However, I smoke an organic brand, which runs me $7.50 a pack plus tax. So in an average month we're talking 4 or 5 packs, so around $38 a month.

I'm really leaning towards the DSE-901, I have watched and read all the 1-4 parts of the WWoV series, and I'm working my way through the interesting parts of the library. I expect I'll vape more than I smoke, due to the fact I sometimes can't make it through an entire cigarette but if theres no smell or tobacco taste involved I could probably handle much more...

@aerinfirehair - Does your husband smoke? It really is relevant. If you are able to convert to vaping instead of smoking, you will get your sense of smell and taste back. If he is a non-smoker he will definitely notice the difference in how you, your hair, and your clothes smell. You will also begin to notice how nasty stale smoke and ashtrays really are. That's not to say a burning cigarette won't still pull at you, at least for a while, but as your true sense of smell returns, you won't want the results of smoking. IMHO

Two things I can tell you.

A ecig is WAY less expensive than smoking normal cigs.
You can use them to quit smoking, and then quit the ecig.

Savings from 75 to 100%
That in itself is enough to give it a shot for two weeks, and its paid for.

Note: I havent quit the normal cigs yet, but now I know how to do it without killing everyone I come into contact with, lol. PM me for the method, and Ill keep you all updated over the next few months.

About the carts that come with the kits or disposables. They are virtually worthless. They will only last a short time. If they are to dry mayybe only a cig worth or less.

You need to expect this or to get around it buy some juice.

Disposables apparently only come in one strength? Its going to seriously limit how much I could try it out since I would probably OD pretty quick....but maybe its worth a shot.

Magic Puffer Electronic Cigarette - Buy E-Cigarette products and accessories | Disposable Mini E-Cigarette

Electronic Cigarettes from Cigeasy - Home of the Easy E-Cigarette

the first is a cheap disposable. the second link is actually the first kit i purchased. You'll want another battery for sure at the very least if you decide vaping is for you. This kit comes with 5 pre-filled cartos and 10ml of juice for free so it gives you enough to keep you going for a week or two since you're a light smoker. It's also only $30 plus shipping and there's a 10% coupon code if i recall correctly. "ecf" or "ecf10" is the code. It's really hard to beat the deal to get started and then add another $30 and you can get another battery later and a wall adapter for the usb charger. that's $60 for equipment total and that would give you 2 batteries (that way you have one charging while you use the other) then you can jsut check through the suppliers and catch good deals on juice. cartomizers are easy to refill and when they get "used up" just toss em into boiling water and and then blow them out. I hope that helps you out a bit.

Would running the numbers help make your case? This is kinda rough, but:

Your current habit costs 38$/mo or $1.23 per day. You can get GOOD juice at around $0.41/ml shipped, less if you go for DIY. Then you've gotta add replacement costs for equipment depreciation and amortize your initial purchase. Amortize a cignot no-box kit ($35) over a year, that's about $3 a month. Say, $10 on average to replace equipment. You're a real light smoker so here's some scenarios computing the above:
1ml/day - $25.50/mo
2ml/day - $38.00/mo
3ml/day - $50.50/mo

(Add $2/mo if you spend the $60 for the KR8 above)

This is assuming you like the juice you ordered and parts don't fail at an unusual rate. Even at 3ml/day you might be paying a tad more than now...but the benefits of not inhaling products of combustion should more than make up for that.

for me, 5ml is a week's supply....I was a pack a day guy a month ago....

depending on what you mean by "casual smoker" maybe you could start with a $20 usb passthrough and a package of cartomizers....
