Thanks again Spidermonkey! That's a very nice choice of colors, I just hope you aren't counting on it for St. Patrick's day - I'm getting a little behind on orders so it probably won't ship out until next week. (If you were counting on having it by then, let me know and I'll do what I can.)

Thanks for the measurements Bamrz! I'll add those to my database.

No big rush on it cuz this one's going to go to my brother along with a v3 mod that hasen't been sent to me yet, so I've got time. But really, I would like to hear a good trade secret on how to loosen up my SB holster. It's not way tight just a little too snug...

...I would like to hear a good trade secret on how to loosen up my SB holster. It's not way tight just a little too snug...

This seems to come up once every few months, so here are some tips for everyone:

Always remove your mod from the holster by pushing it up from the bottom. Never pull on your atty/carto/tank! It really is a lot easier to get a mod out of a tight holster by pushing it out from the bottom.

For an open-top holster, flexi-holster, lanyard, or sleeve, you don't want it too be too loose or the mod may fall out. If you've just purchased a holster you'll want to give it some break-in time before you do anything to stretch it because it's nearly impossible to go back if you stretch it too far.

The first thing to try is to simply leave your mod in the holster/lanyard/sleeve overnight. A week or two of normal use and a few nights with the mod left in the holster will almost always do the trick.

If you feel that it still needs more stretching, head to your hardware store, with your mod, and pick up a cheap dowel rod that is just *slightly* larger in diameter than your mod. Cut off a piece that is 5 or 6 inches longer than your holster and sand one end to make the edges smooth and rounded. Dampen the inside of the front, curved side, of the holster JUST A LITTLE BIT and then gently work the dowel into the holster, rounded end first. You can use a mallet/rock/block of wood to very gently tap the dowel in, being careful not to warp the leather or tear out the retainer in the bottom of the holster. Let it sit to dry for about 8 hours but do not try to dry it with an artificial heat source or direct sunlight. Pull out the dowel, using a screwdriver to carefully tap it out from the bottom if needed, and let the holster dry a bit longer.

If you've stretched it a little too much, dampen the inside again and let it sit, empty, for 8-12 hours to dry. This may or may not work, so it's really better not to stretch it too far in the first place.

What is the difference between extended, standard and both for the Provari? Does it just make the slit in the flap longer if you choose both?

Trying to decide if it would be better to buy 2 or just get the one that works for both battery sizes.

Thanks

The atty/carto slot is the same for all three size. The difference is in the height of the front of the holster (1/2" shorter for standard/both) and length of the flap (1/2" longer for extended/both), and the positioning of the slot. It's really pretty minor differences between the three options.

Unless you really feel the need to have two holsters, the "both" size will work for the ProVari with either cap quite nicely.

Thanks Griffin!! That totally worked :) I used a push broom handle on it this morning cuz it was about the right size and already rounded. Now my SB fits just like I want it to. Always quality stuff and that's why I'll be back for more soon :thumb:

I also wanted to thank you for the e-mail today, Tim. Looking forward to my holster, because my shirt pockets are getting stretched out a little bit :) Not really, just seems that way...

When I was in high school and college, I worked in a Leather Crafts store in the Bronx that was rather well known. So I feel great about having a real craftsman make this for me. Take care.

That's one of the other patterns that I'm preparing to make available. I still need to work out a few details though, like how to get the colors applied more neatly without spending three hours on dyeing each one.

I'm planning on having them available as two-color designs with a black background and and the same secondary color options that are available for the current sleeves.

This flame design is another one I think I'll be including:

I went ahead & placed an order last night/this morning. I might get one of these if I get a provari mini & you have a sleeve for them.

Thanks for the info,

Dwayne

Do you have to turn the provari off if using the flip-top holster or is it designed to not fire the button?

It is designed so that you should be able to leave the unit on without worrying about the button getting pressed, though it is a good idea to make sure the button is not facing the back of the holster when you put the ProVari in.

So far, I have not received any reports of problems with the unit firing while in the holster.

That's what I was hoping for. Anywhere but the back, or do you suggest facing it a certain way?

Any direction other than towards the back of the holster should be fine. (Even if it is facing the back, there probably wouldn't be enough pressure to activate the button, but better safe than sorry.)

Hey Griff. I sent you an email question about the GGTS holsters about 3 weeks ago. Should I send another? I've received no reply.

I don't recall a message about the GGTS and don't see anything in my mail so you might want to resend it or PM me here on ECF.

Is it possible to place an order for a "custom version" of the Special Edition open top holster with just a small, sturdy loop sewn across the back of the holster straps so I can then add my own key ring/lobster clasp? (I'm choosy on these two things and already have a set up I could use). If so, I'd really like to order one - so nice! Thanks for the reply :)

i'm also wondering something similar, i think. i wear a belt pretty often, but sometimes i would like to be able to clip it to my purse or an open belt loop on my jeans. is it possible to fit something like the snap-close leather loop like the flexi holster has to the back of your flip top design? i like the functionality of the d-ring/swivel clasp you have set up but i would like a flip top because i'm pretty dang rough and tumble.

edit: oh, and it's for a provari.

I don't think that would be a problem. When you order your flexi-holster, just include a note in the "comments" section to indicate that you would like it to have a flip-top.
