Protanks don't work AT ALL for me. While my husband loves his, and gets plumes of vapor with them. So I tossed them his way and feel jealous with the results he gets. Maybe vaping style? Who knows!
I guess that's the problem - with the huge range of PVs/APVs out there, plus thousands of different juices in different PG/VG ratios, plus a variable amount of technical knowledge of how a topper works, how can someone be sure to get a great vape out of what they buy?
When I first got my PT2 I thought it was... OK - bit disappointed honestly, weak vape, lots of flooding, really tight draw but strangely, good throat hit.
I switched to the iClear 16b that came with my MVP and got tons of vape and it just worked but the throat hit wasn't there.
It was only after experimenting and watching some videos that I realised if you screw the PT all the way down you're blocking the airflow that comes through the center pin - and depending on the APV you've got, you may or may not encounter that problem.
The fix was simple, unscrew the PT a little and screw the beauty ring up to hold it in place - bingo! Stellar vape - plumes of vapour, great taste, great throat hit.
Some people just aren't going to take the time to figure that out though - or won't know where to look to get help - if you post about the PT here people will tell you:
Remove the flavour wick
Turn the grommet upside down
Rebuild the coil
PT's are junk
Mine works fine, it's user error (true in this case, but not explaining
why)
etc. etc.
As more inexperienced vapers join our ranks, support for these devices and their associated problems needs to improve and really, that should be coming from the device manufacturers - they need to understand that their user-base is rapidly becoming
less experienced and they need to provide good instructions and support to help them.
Oh, and QC is a big issue too - I was dry-burning my stock Kanger head earlier today and noticed only half of the coil was glowing - not a biggie, I'm getting some Kanthal in next week but really, for what you pay, these replacement heads often are just bad.
