I work in a government office that shall remain nameless. I got an email this morning from a GSA building manager that states electronic cigarettes are treated like tobacco products and their use is not allowed inside federal buildings or within 20 feet of an entrance. He also claimed that the FDA has determined that electronic cigarettes contain cancer-causing nitrosamines and diethylene glycol.

It would be kinda interesting to see if this management person would share the info and where he got it about nitrosamines and diethylene glycol. Reputable anything or random internet blog? If they are going to make those decisions and make those kind of claims, I for one would like to know where the info came from.

I work in a city government building and as of right now vaping is allowed altho I take myself outside just to avoid any possibility of offending anyone altho all my co-workers are very supportive and some are also vapers. (We all take it outside, just because.)

Just wondering where the FDA posted that, or if they did at all. Maybe that old, old test they did a few years ago when they found traces of some not-so-good stuff in one of the samples?

I'm sure it's from the original FDA "study" that found toxins in two of the 6 or 8 they tested.

I think the real danger in vaping is the di-hydrogen monoxide that they release. People die from that stuff everyday!

Facts About Dihydrogen Monoxide

LOL He he good one but Dihydrogen = H2, Monoxide = O so it's jusr H20 - water. Sure it's in our vape, and probably the stuff we are drinking too. :) Nice joke and, anyone that worries over that hoax is a bit chemistry illiterate - been around for a few years.

I keep waiting for someone to run with that though. You know some idiot will get a hold of it, hold a press conference without fact checking, etc... but seriously... DHMO is the major byproduct of vaping.

Di Hydrogen Mon Oxide
2---H---------1----O ------> H2o ----->Water

Really? did you have to spoil the fun? We use DiHydrogen MonOxide whenever the anti-Vaper starts in on the "Its the same stuff in antifreeze" B.S. You fight misinformation on e-cigs with scientific jargon to show the ignorant that the haters are trying to trick them into thinking the worst about us vapers

My embarrassing state of Delaware has implemented a tobacco-free policy for all state-owned property. They have included e-cigarettes as a tobacco product. In their policy, they justify this by quoting CDC statistics that 1,200 people die each year from cigarette smoking (directly, not second hand smoke). Given our small population, that's .0013%. But I live in a blue state that loves to tell us what we can do with our lives. http://www.delawarepersonnel.com/policies/docs/tobacco-free-policy.pdf

For the record, we don't claim VP Joe Biden, because he's from Scranton, PA.
