I'm I reading this wrong? How does a quad 4/5 wrap of a 28g end up at .3ohm? Remember, with quad coils you would divide the resistance of a single coil by 4.

Using Steam Calc (Steam Engine | free vaping calculators), on a 3/64 bit [roughly a large paper-clip] you would need 10/11 wraps to hit your target of 1.2ohms per coil.

According to my calculations, what you have built is 4x .6ohm coils, which would give a total resistance of .15ohms. That's a HUGE difference from .3 ohms.. Instead of the ~13 amps ~50 watts that you've suggested you are vaping at, you would actually be vaping at ~26 amps ~100 watts.

Vape safe, dude. That would put you right at the edge on a VTC4.

i do a set up that's similar but with only duals. i use a 1.5mm diameter with 28g wire, each coil is 5 wraps and each coil comes out to .75Ω so total resistance is about .4Ω. now divide that in half and it does seem closer to .2 then over .3. so maybe a larger diameter coil is at play and longer leads possibly.

I don't recall exactly what I rolled my coils on but if memory serves, it was at least a 3mm syringe needle so at least in my case, yes it was a much larger hole, double basically.

Desmond - I tried the build on a Quasar, fully opened up. I'm realizing that RDA actually doesn't quite have the airflow needed for this type of build, I don't think.

I was guessing based off of the other builds I've done. After actually metering this build(my meter recently took a dive on me) comes out to .2 ohms. Battery safety is always at the front of my mind. Even at 26 amps, that's not coming close to the pulse limit of the vtc 4, and at 2 second max pulses, I'm not coming anywhere close.

I'm using my Igo with 2 3/32" airflow holes, I recently got a delrin top cap and drilled the holes to 3mm. It's a little airy for me, but definitely tones down the throat hit.

I wasn't worried about you, Desmond. .2ohms (or lower, even), is perfectly fine with the proper batteries and precautions. I was worried about other readers looking to mimic your build who may not be as aware, or knowledgeable.

Nonetheless, it would explain the difference in vape quality you've noticed. The jump in power from a .3 to a .2 ohm coil is a lot larger than a many people realize.

I completely agree, and as of late, the cloud blowing competitors seem to be coming on in droves. Some of the posts I see in the new members section scare the $h17 out of me. I've been Vaping for years, and building for almost a full year, only going sub ohm after a good six months of continuous building that some might even call compulsive (changing builds 2-3 times a day)
And even then, I still make mistakes.

I tried to edit my original post to include a disclaimer, but I guess it's too old to edit. Maybe an admin could help me out with that?
