Gave it up for microcoils and cotton as well.
My buddy that works at the local B&M gave me a cobra tank with a broken drip trip because they couldn't sell it like that.
sounds like a clone - they dont come with drip tips - and the real one is made of titanium only and costs around 165 bucks with very limited vendors in the US. still one of my favorites. all the copies don't even compare.
I agree the learning curve on mesh is pretty annoying for many but once it 's figured out its easy, and puts hair on your chest .
Ahem.... Cotton is awesome, so is xc132- both for micro coils, and both with a bottom feeder.
Why would you need anything else? Juice contaminants from the metal, hotspots.... Genies are TRULY a tinkerers game. For the most consistent, amazing vape, try an rm2 and a reo set up micro coil ( whatever ohms you prefer for a mech)
Hah! The nerve! Calling cotton, the Mayfly of wicks, more consistent than the immortal SS mesh.![]()
On a more serious note:
Why would metals contaminate my juice? I use 316-grade SS mesh. What is the Reomizer made of?
On a more helpful note: If your gennie develops hotspots after it's been properly set up; something's wrong. Most likely an Aga T2 that has a tendency to adjust its own center post at various occasions.
Good for you its nice when you find something you like!
I used mesh for months and know all the benefits from using it, but the ease of changing out a cotton wick compared to dry burning and getting rid of hotspots, was the deal breaker. I don't want to start bashing SS mesh and stir up the anti-mesh vapers, but the question of safety of inhaling SS mesh not being clear is another factor. I find the flavor and vapor produced from cotton and microcoils is just as good as SS mesh.
Oh, not to sound all gushy, but I am in love with this build right now ... hands down one of the most pleasant vapes I have had to date. I only hope that when it comes time, that I can duplicate the effort. Three months ago I was giving mechs and gennies the side eye, whereas today I am like "what took me so long?" ... real talk. But I do see the benefit in crawling before I walked. ;-)
I was at the zoo not long ago and a monkey was vaping a geny with mesh in it. If the monkey could figure it out surely humans are smart enough to! ;-)

Ya know ... I was also gonna comment on that "metals contaminating juice" comment, but initially opted to pass. Where the hell do people get this from. Between this, and the NEW brass hysteria, I am starting to get aggravated ... Where are the vapers who have contaminated juice? Where are the vapers who were lead poisoned by brass atties? Where are they? Who are they? ... Been in this game for 2 1/2 years, and been a member of this board for most of that time, and I have never, ever, heard of a single vaper being sick, or negatively effected by metal contaminated juice, or poisoned by lead from a brass atomizer.
Enough with this nonsense already! Unless someone can present an actual, verified case of a poisoned vaper, with some medical records, I find it irresponsible to keep putting this imaginary fear out there ... And random dudes on youtube hypothesizing about the dangers of brass and metal in my atties do not count.
I'm still on ss, simply because its so friggin low maintenance. This wick+coil im vapring right now i built 7 months ago and it last developed a hotspot like 2 months ago or so which took around 2 minutes to fix... Also "mirco" coils arent exclusive to cotton, this one has 12 wraps of 0.1x0.3mm kanthal around it and i was doing that way before it was mainstream! /hipdouche
I do admit you can get superior performance out of a cotton build that is the same volume but just like silica they get clogged every other week and you have to build a new one while all it takes to unclog a SS wick is a single dryburn and bam good as new.
