One week ago today I quit smoking analogs, after nearly 20 years of 1 pack/day (sometimes a bit more). The electronic cig has been *amazing*. Although well aware of the health & financial costs of tobacco smoking, I wasn't super motivated to quit b/c I had no desire to go through the agonies of quitting. About two years ago, I bought an e-cig from Greensmoke and found it to be pretty ineffective. This fall, I stumbled upon this forum and saw that so many people who loved smoking and who had been smoking longer than I had were now devotees of vaping. After reading here, I bought the Ego-T device about 2 months ago and let it sit in the box for over a month before I even opened it. Last Thursday morning, I smoked my last analog at 9 a.m. and was too lazy to go to the store to buy another pack of smokes. I looked at the Ego-T and thought, what the hell, I might as well try it for the day. I began vaping and whenever I felt a craving for an analog, I came over to this forum and read about ppl's experiences which further inspired me. Once I went 24 hours without an analog and woke up the next morning without my usual hacking cough, I was super motivated to keep going with it. Naturally, I then bought even more vaping supplies based up recommendations of this board. I've had daily cravings for analogs, but nothing really bad--just a sharp sudden desire for one which would quickly pass--and when I would have a craving, I would just madly vape away. And then, yesterday, I was busy doing work when I had my first craving not for an analog but for a VAPE!!! Wooohoo!!!

So thank you to everyone here for posting about your stories and experiences and for giving good advice--I am now a convert! Who knew that quitting tobacco could be so easy???? It's also funny that when I first bought the Ego-T I wasn't interested in the flavored juices/e-liquids because I just wanted to simulate the smoking experience as much as possible, so I only bought the tobacco flavored juices. However, last weekend (to celebrate my first 48 hrs w/o an analog) I bought a bunch of different liquids and I've found that I actually prefer the flavored liquids to the tobacco e-liquid. I now have a new favorite: Creme de Menthe from the Vaper Pro---soooo good, it's like eating a peppermint patty and smoking all at once:)

Congrats and welcome aboard.

I was only interested in only tobacco flavors when I first started too. My sample orders show that, but thankfully I picked up some other flavors too. Thought they were 'girly' and all. Darn it, I was a smoker I wanted something that would remind me of a cig! Oh how wrong I was. Flavors, nom nom nom :)

When I ran out of my first batch of juice over the weekend I got a pack of analogs. Ick, taste sucked.... I found myself wanting my eGo not another burning cancer stick!

So know where you are coming from on both counts :)

Seems common that people first starting vaping want a tobacco flavor. As soon as they try a flavor they are like f- the tobacco I want me some other kind of juice. But I do like the RY4, when I first tried it wasn't anything like tobacco. To me it was a bit like the smell of a fresh pack of cigs with a honey taste to it. The ones that are supposed to mimic brand name cigs just have me gagging with the bad taste.

Welcome aboard. Vaping actually ruined the tobacco habit for me. After a few days I tried a cigarette and gagged - 25 years of a perfectly disgusting, expensive and life threatening habit quashed by a little nic fruit juice. 3.5 months here and still amazed at how much I enjoy vaping.

Congratulations! Enjoy your new healthy hobby.

I love your story!! mine was a little different as I wanted to quit but all the negativity that comes with quitting is hard to overcome for example your long held onto smoking buddies, dont want to lose you so they find something like vaping stupid, or your family who really want you to quit are somehow disapointed that you are still using a nicotine subsitute, the important thing is ignore the negativity and experiment because no matter what the well meaning people here suggest this whole expirement is a personal journey. Keep posting when you need support and advice but keep trying! Good luck xoxo

We all search for a while and then settle on something we've heard other people rave about for a while. The hardest thing to get settled in your mind is that vaping is different from smoking. The juices actually taste better than any cigarette, but there's something missing at first. That's MAOI that is contained in tobacco smoke. MAOI is responsible for that satisfying relaxation that comes over you when you hit the break area and take a few hits from a cig. Once you get past the addiction to the chemicals in tobacco smoke, you find that cigarettes are a crappy tasting way to get your nic fix. One day, you smoke a cigarette and then vape and realize that cigarettes taste like an ash tray.

This link is pretty informative about being hooked on tobacco: This is your brain on nicotine

Congratulations!!! Thats kind of how I started vaping too! I bought an e-cig in 2009, tried it for a bit and didn't really take to it. A few months ago I ran out of smokes and was too lazy to go to the store so I fired up my e-cig and though * I'll puff on this until I can't stand it anymore* I went a whole day and realized that it wasn't too bad, ordered a better model and voila! I've had a few setbacks since then and bummed a few smokes but it's been quite easy :)
