Just received my package from Eastmall yesterday but I did notice it was heavily wrapped and had electronics listed as the contents.

From my son I understand that the absinthe sold or legally imported into the US must contain less than 10ppm thujone. He and I understand others - do not see this as real absinthe - I don't care for it -never liked liquorice (which is what it taste like - in spite of what absinthe lovers say)

I've heard that too. But from what I understand, it is regulated the same in France. Only the old absinthe was higher. I have tried 10 brands of absinthe, an some do taste like licorice or Arak, but the better ones have their own taste. The lower alcohol content ones like Lucid, are not very good(even though more popular) than Grande Absente and a few other more traditional brands. They claim it is the original recipe(and 138 Proof!). It was a very "interesting" experience. lol Grande Absente, Absinthe Originale

I'm tracking my order from China and it ends at customs in Chicago. When I spoke with customs they told me that the FDA has my package. I called their number and got a recording asking me to leave a message, left my info and now am just waiting. Has anyone had a similar experience? If so how was it resolved.

Would be nice to know what kind/how big order and from what supplier.
I know people working at seaports and most of huge containers are going in without any check.
Your package could attract attention in 2 cases: if it has some 'funny' description or if it got under random check.

OT: You can buy absinthe in the states now. BevMo and others sell it. Does the mark up really make it worth it? Or is it just more a potent version?

I like the Absinthe from Spain and Andorra the best. I haven't looked for NS 70 or Larsand here, but maybe it is available.
I haven't had to order any in quite a while as a few big bottles lasts a long time!

LOL. Didn't last me very long. I love that stuff! I can easily go through a bottle in a day or two. I haven't had any in a couple years. Just too expensive, and I go through it like water.

It is all about the thujone content. The US is so low, that it's like the alcohol content of a non-alcoholic beer (which does still have a minute percentage).

What was in it? Hardware or juice? Or both? And was it a huge order or for personal use?

AFAIK, the FDA currently have the authority to do this because they appealed the injuction against them and it was temporarily lifted. However, the case is still to be ruled on and it's quite possible the injuction will be put back in place. In which case, they'd have no legal authority to seize anything.

I think the best you can hope for is that the injuction will be re-instated and the FDA will have to (eventually) return your goods. I don't think they can actually confiscate them for all eternity... although.... who knows with these lunatics?

Sorry, I haven't had a chance to get back on here. My order was in a box about 24"x24" but it felt heavy for that size. It was never opened, just 'detained' by the FDA. HG was the vendor. They have been super to work with.
