Well, woke up today and had 2 hammer clones in the mail box :)

I got one Hcigar clone from a coop and a Tobeco one from ebay.

Hcigar clone:

+All the logos and the 510 connection engravings and paint look great
+Great threading all around
+Nitpicking, but the venting holes are "aligned", i mean, something like this
*
* *
* *
*
+Works fine with my panasonic and efest batteries(18650-18500-18350)
-The button is so light that even sitting it in the wrong position fires the mod.

Tobeco clone:
+The button is sturdy, and the markings on it are better.
-Efest 18350 batteries won't fit, i'm using efest 18500 with 1 of the extension tubes.
-Logos and the paint on the 510 connection are sub par compared to the Hcigar one
-Nitpick again but the venting holes aren't aligned to anything :p

I'm not using any tools or anything to measure, but both hit just fine imho. I decided to use the tobeco switch on the Hcigar clone because i can use it in my pocket in 18350 mode without fear of it firing as easily as the other switch.

Overall i prefer the Hcigar, the fact that it takes all the batteries without a problem makes it a much better mod to my eyes, even with the light button that is easily fixable.

which direction are you inserting the batteries on the tobeco one?

Don't understand. Isn't there a locking ring like the Hammer by Kato, just below the firing button?

Yeah, there is a locking ring on both, but the Hcigar switch is super light and has a really short throw, so if the locking ring moves a little bit the mod starts firing.

Positive pin going inside the tube. Btw, i may have not explained myself clearly, the problem with the 18350 batteries is not length but width :)

oh ok. thats strange. i did notice that my batteries fit better with pos side going in first. obviously thats not your problem but i noticed that on mine as i had the battery in backwards at first.

Good to know. Hopefully just a few have this probby, thank you!

i noticed the throw on the hcigar one was very short (shorter than the tobeco one) in a youtube review and confirmed here by puchox. my suggestion is to go for the tobeco one.

I don't know if a fuse would fit. It's pretty tight as it is. Then again I've never held a fuse so i don't know how thin they are.

Where did everybody get the Hcigar one, and the Tobeco? Everyone seems to have differing opinions on which is better.

I have the tobeco version. It's from 101vape.
I believe c2c vaping has the hcigar one.

Ok, cool. I ordered from 101 too. I didn't want to wait any longer by ordering from c2c. I hope I don't have issues with threading, or battery fit

Wow tobeco is really hoping their game lately. From those pics I would get tobeco... But I need 350 mode... Decisions decisions...

Really? You would prefer low grade uneven castings with brass pins over CNC machined 304 stainless steel with silver plated pins?

I may have a fluke one from Tobeco, but it is close to unusable. The only way I can vape it is either with AOIS, or after replacing the 510 connector with the one from Chi You.

Really? What seems to be the problem? I had to stretch out the spring in between the two brass connector tabs. Works like a champ now!

Here's my review of the Tobeco variant from C2C

Nice review! I ditched that plastic sleeve.. I also have a steamboy with ss rope and ss mesh, same deal.. But it does work good when I throw my protank2 on it. I have a kraken clone on the way that I plan on pairing it up with.. Just curious if you tried a different tank???

I can't even take that apart to get to the spring :(

Edit: OMG, it works now. I gave up trying to be gentle with the 510 connection (since it didn't work), and took some pliers to the plastic part. Stretched the spring, and it works beautifully now.

So to recap:

1. Sanded the brass insert for better contact
2. Ground down the knob on the inside of the brass insert to make battery fit
3. Polished off the burrs
4. Stretched the floating 510 connection spring
5. Removed the plastic sleeve to make battery fit
6. Polished the engravings so they don't scratch my desk
7. Profit
