Hi folks, two weeks of being analog free after 15 years of reinforcing the habit, and I am struggling with the hand fixation aspect of the transition. I'm missing the ritualistic opening the pack, the flick of the lighter, and landing the closed pack back on the desk. Picking up my PV every so often just is not cutting it. Have any of you found anything that helps outside of wearing a rubber band around the wrist and snapping it when the urge strikes? Thanks in advance!

As an ex hand-roller, I understand the ritual aspect.
I've found having a tank mod has given me a whole new set of rituals (changing and charging batteries, filling the tank, cleaning for a flavour change etc).
I'm just sitting here having typed this realizing how little I miss my old, 25-year habit. Wow! I honestly never thought I'd say that!

With cigarettes, you had 15 years to reinforce that ritual. So it may just take some time to unlearn that. But with PV, you will begin to have your own ritual. ie screwing carto on battery, refilling tank, charging battery, etc

This is a great point and I think it holds true. Stay strong and keep it up! It's absolutely worth it.

I agree it is absolutely worth it.
I smoked a PAD for 18 years and have tried many different methods of quitting cigs (patch, inhaler, cold turkey) But always felt that I was missing something, that I was losing a friend.
I am going on 3 weeks of being cigarette free and loving it. I actually don't miss it at all. I love vaping, trying the different equipment and flavors and reading this forum. It's almost like a new hobby.

Congratulations on quitting!!

I smoked for over 30 years and up until the past month or so I was still reaching for my pack and lighter, especially when BBQing. Never been a real big deal though, just realized what I was doing and grabbed my PV and/or beverage instead. As others have said, it's just a matter of unlearning the habit you had for so long and will eventually pass.

Just be proud of yourself for quitting and give yourself a mental pat on the back for each little win (each avoided cigarette).

I think that rubber band thing would just piss me off. :toast:
