Has anyone tried having a cigarette lately?

It's been over a month since I put down the cigs and replaced it with my cig-a-like. It's amazing, when I was searching for e juice initially I was in desperate search for a tobacco flavored juice. Now, while I do "go out" for vape breaks at work with co workers, it neither bothers me or tempts me when I am around regular smokers. I know how powerful the brain works to keep you numb to the awful things traditional cigs do to our bodies. The smell, dizziness and overall lethargy followed by it becomes something a smoker gets used to. I have been in a few situations lately where smokers inquire about my PV and I always tell them if they have any desire to quit, just try it! I love spreading my limited but growing knowledge of this smoking alternative and I hope that as they witness my conversion to vaping, they may be inclined to do the same!

After four years of vaping, I do have a smoke every now and then, like maybe on average one per month.
They don't taste very good, and they pale in nearly every way to vaping, but sometimes I just feel like having one.

I have be vaping for years, but occasionally smoke one, no more than once a month or longer. It doesn't disgust me but it doesn't make me have any urge to smoke another either. They do give me a bit of a buzz, so whatever is in there that isn't nicotine has quite an effect all on its own.
Yes, when I do have a cigarette, it gives me a slight "buzz" for a few minutes, but it doesn't last long.
It is my opinion that it is the carbon monoxide, which is actually robbing your brain of oxygen, causing a short-lived oxygen-deprivation buzz.

There are many things I am enjoying about not being a "smoker" anymore, advantages that are discussed on ECF all the time, but one of the things I really like about quitting, but not often discussed here, is that if/when I do have a cigarette, I'm quite secure and relatively confident that as long as I have my vapes, I won't need to have cigarette.
As I like to say, you know you are a vaper when you can have a cigarette if you feel like it...
And all it does is prove that you are still, and always will be a vaper.
:)

When my mom went into the hospital again back in May I was distraught because there is nothing that can be done for her she is terminal and is now in hospice care. I did what I hadn't done in over a year...bought a pack of smokes...I smoked them all then bought another pack....smoked most of them then gave the rest of the pack away....because no matter the stress in my life I have to LIVE!...they tasted like crud anyways ;) I love vaping waaay more then I ever "loved" smoking!

Sorry to read that about your mom. But, I am happy to read how you managed to keep moving forward with your willingness to live.

I put cigarettes down 12 days ago, as soon as I started vaping, and haven't had touched one since. I've been around smokers, have gone drinking, and never once had the urge to smoke. I still have a half-pack of Marlboro Lights and a lighter in the drawer right next to my computer desk (where I always tended to smoke the most), and haven't wanted to reach for them yet. It's a good feeling because I smoked 1.5 PAD for almost 25 years and never thought I'd be able to quit.

I haven't tried smoking one for a couple reasons:

1) I don't like the smell anymore - smelling somebody else smoking a cigarette used to provoke the "mmmmmm!" reaction and an immediate urge to light up; now it just stinks.

2) Despite the above, I did smoke for a long time and don't want to tempt myself to start doing it again. We all know it's a tough habit to kick despite the smell, inconvenience and health risks - I'm doing good so far and don't want to tempt fate.

I did, a couple of weeks ago, just because I could. I have an open pack (and a lighter) on the dash of my car-haven't touched it since the day I got my V2 cigs and had enough battery power to avoid smokes. I said to myself as I picked up the lighter- "Hmmm, wonder how bad this will taste?" I smoked cheap filtered cigars because they're dirt cheap at $1.20/pack. I could seriously not believe how I ever smoked those things! I took two drags and tossed it. No thanks. I also noticed how my hands stunk after just that little bit- absolutely nasty!

Wow, surprised to see so many people dislike the smell of cigarette smoke now ... To be honest, I absolutely LOVE the smell of cigarette smoke ... If I walk in my office building and someone's smoking a cigarette outside, I walk real slow, just to smell it ... It's smells delightful ...

That being said, I feel very lucky to have only smoked 2 cigarettes since I started. First was 3 days into vaping, and man, the first drag was like heaven and the entire cigarette was like chocolate cake and sex rolled up into one. The second cigarette was 4 days later and again, just heaven ...

As much I still LOVE the smell of cigarettes and as sure as I am that if I did smoke, I would absolutely LOVE it, I refuse to smoke ... At least not today (just keeping it in the day). In 18 years, I have tried quitting smoking soooo many times and never thought I would, just because of how much I really enjoyed it. But I am way too grateful to be over a month without cigarette to even think about a smoking ... Vaping is awesome, although a love-hate relationship, it keeps me more than satisfied.

Must be something in the air....

Last week, for no valid reason, I decided to buy a pack. Bought my old buddies; a box of Marlboro Red 100's. Realized I didn't have a lighter (instinctively did the "tap-tap" of all my pockets then chuckled). Bought a lighter. On my way back to my car it dawned on me how expensive this little habit was.

I get to the garage at work, rip the cellophane off, flip the box open and the smell of tobacco fills my nose. "Ah, hello old friend", I say to myself as that tobacco smell fills my nose. It smelled good. Hell, it smelled GREAT.

I tap one out, put it in my mouth and flick the lighter. Nervous anticipation builds like when you asked out your first girl and you await her answer. The cigarette tip glows red, I inhale. A warm feeling envelopes me.

I exhale. I'm thinking the cigarettes are stale; they shouldn't taste like this. I take another drag. Same taste. I pitch the cig and start walking towards the elevator. On the way I see someone I know that smokes. I hand him my pack of 19 cigarettes that are not even one hour old. I explain I think they may be stale. He sparks one and declares, "Taste fine to me ! Thanks !".

It's official; I'm a non-smoker.

I've tried my old standby Marlboro Reds a few times. Not unsmokable, but nowhere near as good as I remembered. On the other hand, I've found that I now enjoy hookah, my usual homeroll (Stokkebye Amsterdam Shag), and my pipe tobacco even more than I EVER did when I was a cig smoker. I only smoke hookah once or twice a month, usually when drinking with a friend who has his own and blends his own shishas, I might roll one cig once every week or two, and usually have a sitting with the pipe about once a week when I've got an hour or so to just sit and read out on my porch.
