Has Anyone Vaped the RM4 Yet?

I've been playing with mine for a few hours now. My first attempt was a .8 single coil. It vaped OK but certainly not in the class of an RM2 or a Cyclone. I then tried a .5 ohm dual coil with the airflow wide open and it really blows clouds in this mode. Throat hit and flavor are also good. Seems like a solid atty but I need to play with it more I.e Coil placement, height etc.

Just got mine in the mail and wow those screw heads are close together. I ordered some socket head screws earlier today and I think I will wait on them to build this thing.

I chucked my screws up in the drill and used a small file and filed them down to make the needed clearance. I also filed the points of the screws flat as well. The first 2 coils I put on it with barely any pressure cut right through the wire...

I ground down the heads of the screws to the same size as the post, rounded the bottom and built dual coils at .47ohm. The clouds are nice but it is going to take more time to find the flavor compared to the other atty's in the barn.

It is a bit early for a good review but right off I can tell that the cap spins very easy and this is not ideal for me. I like caps that stay in place unless I want them moved. I tend to put in my pocket, pull out, squonk and vape. I do not want to be worried about coils/air hole alignment all the time. I may try a bigger o-ring and see if that helps.
I am open to suggestions so don't be shy.

I have been using bf'ed Atomics for a few months now and have learned a little about their idiosyncrasies.

Compared to the Rm2 or the Cyclone the Atomic is less efficient in that the same build used on the Cyclone especially transferred to the Atomic will produce less flavor and similar vapor (not good)

I have found going down in resistance, in my case from a .7-.9 ohm on the Cyclone/afc to get the same and better vape I had to step my resistance down to .45-.60.

The issue is simple physics, feel the weight of the two atties (cyclone vs Atomic). The Atomic is comparatively much heavier and that mass acts as a heat sink. You would need to raise the input to get the same output.

I personally use a dual coil 28awg 8 wrap with KGD for my nearly perfect vape. Experiment with what works for you, try going down one wrap on each coil and see if that is better.

I've done that with drip tips before, but can floss handle the heat of an atty deck?

That part of the deck doesn't get very hot. If you are concerned however cotton thread or Kanthal would also work.

Was running dual 26ga micros at .42ohms, with Koh Gen Do cotton. Just tried a similar build with 24ga, it tastes good and clouds but takes too long to heat up. IMO 24ga dual coil builds, in general, take too long to heat up. I've been preferring the 26ga for a while for duals and a 24ga single in my RM2.

Running a .48ohm single coil with 24g in mine and love it. Not much a a dual coil guy but I do like to have the option to "chase the clouds" and thats what the Atomic brings to the table for me...Great atty IMO. My Cyclone still gets plenty of play though!

I have been through the rm2 (single and even fought a dual coil into it), cyclone (with and without afc) atomic, (later renamed rm4) the Reactorv2, and I just built a stillare clone b/f with a dual coil 28/6 wrap@3mm and the still takes the cake hands down, super juice hog. 1 squonk= 2 vapes. With the rm2 1 squonk was good for 6-8 vapes. That said the RM5 look very promising. Love the slotted terminals.

Good lord, dual coil 24! I can't even wrap my 26 to where it doesn't taste like burning kanthal. Maybe I'm just over-sensitive to metallic taste or maybe you just built a much better coil...

I will try it with 26 next coiling. I'm thinking 5@ 26 on a 2.8mm, should be .6-.7 range.

I agree, single coil 24g coils are great on a wider wrap

This is my first fat wrap (2.98mm mandrel) I'm wondering if that's where my flavor boost is coming from. All of my previous coils were with a 1.99mm mandrel and the taste is huge! Like going from a Provari/kayfun to a Reo/Cyclone huge, night and day. Makes me wish for more locals that I can say: try this and watch them look down at the tiny device that just blew them away confused and impressed simultaneously. I call that the "Reo ... moment" it's priceless and why I'm here.
