When I first started vaping, it was a means to cut down on cigarettes. Well, I ended up quiting altogether over a year ago. But it has turned into a hobby for me. I use what used to be my cigarette allowance to buy mods, rtas, rdas, etc. Nothing expensive, but just new things that come out that interest me. I also like to build, read articles, and watch videos about vaping. I know I'm not alone here, but my wife thinks it's silly to buy things that I already have something similar to. And I figure if the future is not kind to vaping, I'll have plenty of backup.

Next time your wife complains, show her this ....

Meh, I've been at it for over six years and I can fit all my gear (including my new DIY liquid supplies) into a small briefcase. The hobby part of it for me hasn't gone much further than rebuilding Protank/EVOD heads.

Anything is better than smoking, though. And as a bonus it introduces people to Ohm's Law and other aspects of electricity.

I've put the savings from smoking back into my grocery budget. At the end of the day, I feel much better with beef and pie in my gullet then a shiny mod in my hand.
Yep I look for deals on vape gear. I have 13 mods and just around $225 in total cost.

Started vaping to just quit the smokes & it definitely worked with my really simple, plain vape gear. Didn't really start buying a bunch of stuff until I got friends, relatives, neighbors, etc. involved in it to quit, too. Told them if they'd stick with vaping...I'd always help them find the best deals on vaping things, especially for those who aren't real computer savvy. Of course, when finding deals for them, I just had to buy some of it for me, too! As more people I'm helping want different things than others preferred, that leads to "a few more extras" in my stash.

Then came all this talk of possible "vapocolypse" coming with new legislative cr*p happening everywhere. So I've bought/stashed more stuff, including all the DIY Nic to last me several years.

I think I've just about gotten all I need "to stash" now though, and I still haven't spent anywhere near what I would have burned up by still smoking! So...it's all good as far as I'm concerned.

Yes it's become a hobby ( and very enjoyable one ) for me too.

Like the OP I read a lot about the different aspects of vaping, coil building and juice mixing. I do have a collection of vaping devices ( which at times I find myself just sitting admiring them as I used to do with my pipe collection) and will probably be adding a few more future proof ones to the heap, as the year goes on.

It's been a wet miserable winter's day here in Scotland - but I've passed it very happily with dropping in and out of the forum and mixing juice.

Again yes I spend my tobacco and pipe money as was on vaping gear and juices...reckon we could all do a lot worse things!

Well I was not planning on it turning into some sort of hobby but....

The 'Twist' has very short battery life so instead of buying more (or being tethered to a USB port) replaceable battery mods (not sure why I needed more than one) were the way to go.

Then it was flavors. I'd quickly get tired of one and not wanting to dump the tank I then needed more tanks.

Then it was the juice - dang expensive for what it is. Gotta start mixing my own.

A 'factory coil' might last over a week or less than an hour - crud, gotta start winding my own but need tanks that have an RBA.

It goes on and on. I'm puffing on my vMax and K1 right now. No not alot of vapor and yes it is a tight draw. Worlds apart from a SXminiM with a TFV4 mounted but my old stuff still works so gets some use from time to time.

I liken it to my pipe smoking friends, they have a few DOZEN pipes and almost as many different tobacco blends to puff on. I bet THEY did not start out wanting a new hobby ether. ;)

I guess it is all about success and happiness.

Some never go past a good Clearomizer and replaceable EGO's.....hope they remain available.......and they are perfectly content. Perfect for them!

Others, and I'm one, get deep into the hobby aspect. There even seems to be a group that has to have the latest and greatest - EVERYTHING - but I think, at least for me, that is excessive.
I have a triple fist full of Mechanical Mods and most are very satisfying to use. often with a chip and set to 12 watts or so.
Lots of Smaller Regulated mods, mostly Box style and a couple of Beast Boxes.

Pick a style of Tank or RDA and I likely have it - not all Brands, but most Styles. I like to see what a different concept produces and when it is really good, I will pick up a few as Backup/parts to keep it available.(6 Magma RDA's now)

I guess I fall into the Excessive, but not insane category.......:w00t::lol::lol::lol:
