I am new to this also. I have not yet completely quit with the cigs, but in 3 weeks I have gone from 2 PAD to 3 cigs a day. The first week was hell. I was vaping and smoking, sometimes at the same time (crazy I know).

The second week was a little better, but I found a juice I really liked at a local shop, actually a light tobacco with a few drops of cinnamon apple.

Now on my third week and what has made a big difference to me is - I AM NOT TRYING TO QUIT ! ! ! Telling myself I had to quit was just too hard. I keep an open pack readily accessible. I can now look at that open pack, pick up one and most of the time I lay it down and pick up my e-cig.

No more pressure and no more stress. I am enjoying my vaping a lot more now.

I'm not a success story by any means since I am only on day 3 myself.

But I believe walking into the E-cig store, and talking to the guys there helped.
The suggestions they offered and the ones here, have been helpful to me.

Don't try to quit smoking, you just want to start vaping.

Don't try to match the taste of your old cigarette.
It won't match and you will always think it tastes "off"

Go with a flavor completely different so you won't subconsciously compare it to your old smokes.
I did bubble gum and spearmint.

Also get the strength right for nicotine. I'm a heavy smoker so 24mg.

And don't wait till you want a smoke to vapor. Vapor slightly more often than you usually smoke.

Also I read here about dehydration from vapor.
I keep plenty of water handy all day now and it makes the vapor easier to adjust to.

I'm at the end of my day right now and I have smoked 3 cigs.. about to smoke my 4th and last today.
That's 4 smokes today.. instead of the 40 that I could easily burn thru like nothing, and I did not try to not smoke them, I just focused on my new vaping hobby..

I'm gonna beat this.. you can too.

Now I'm off to smoke my last for the day.. and I may just dirty dance down to the mailbox before bed.

Silicon Valley...
You have been given tons of great advice and experiences - ya gotta love this place.
My $0.01999

I smoked and vaped for over a month before finally not *wanting* the cig. The number of cigs slowly dropped over time as the vaping increased.
I changed cig brands to one with no additives/chemicals (to American Sp... from Marlb...) <didnt want to advertise for them>.
That helped remove a bit of the familiar in the process.
Vape first even a little bit before the time you might need to, as it does take a bit longer for the nic to enter your system via vaping vs smoking.

What I think helped me the MOST was when I did have the cig I only smoked 1/2 of it. That was usually enough to scratch the unknown itch. Sometimes I would even re-light the previous cig and get the stale taste (negative re-enforcement).
Having the right hardware and juice flavors does the trick (pay a little extra and go and try some flavors at a B&M- Only you will really determine what tastes good to you). The cigs will taste more disgusting over time. The final hurdles are all mental (habit, situational etc). Those become increasingly easier to ignore. I am now at the 4 month cig free mark. If I try a puff from a buddies smoke it now tastes vile. I get an occasional thought of wanting a smoke but pause and think "really?". Nahh

Best of luck and as you have found, ask for help or support and you will get all you need in this great forum.
