I've had 2 so far, the first was really off and the ground screw wouldn't stay tightened. My second was also funny and reading high and always climbing up in resistance. I played with the ground screw a few days ago and found if I center the washer under the screw and then tighten it good I now have had a rock solid correct (agrees with steam engine) ohms reading for the past week on this coil. If it goes back to misbehaving I will try to solder the ground to the 510 connection. I believe the case ground in this mod is a weak point. But for $95 shipped I don't mind fiddling a bit with it. Otherwise its a really well built mod.

Other than when I first got mine (v2) and tightened the case ground screw I have had no problems with mine. I have gone as far as taking voltage readings off the posts of an atty with a 0.5Ω set of Nichrome coils on my Hcigar DNA40 and on my VS r DNA40 and those readings matched. But a couple of days ago (I soldered another lead to the Batt- and grounded it under the other screw. Like I said I had no additional problems, I just thought it couldn't hurt anything.

Agree that a tight connection at the case ground and you are good to go.... a loose connection there and not so good ( no matter how many wires you solder back to the battery), and/or a loose press fit 510 connector (using case ground) and not so good either... just saying...

The button isn't as weird once you have one in your hand. But be aware, after a couple of days the magnet on the back plate came loose. Try not to slam or just use a better glue or epoxy for the magnets.
Hey first of all welcone to the thread! I'm sorry to hear of your magnet problem I did notice this issue on a review that I said before. Quite interesting to know this is the 2nd case I've heard about. Luckily my magnets are securely placed as I said that mine where covered in white glue substance when it first arrived. So it looked rather drab upon opening it the first time. But I've dropped this sucker twice now and magnets are still holding.

On another note my custom sticker is finally on its way! Hopefully its sized properly to cover the logo on the back.

Hello All,

So, I have bought the latest HB DNA40 (with the atty lock feature) and I have some questions.

I have a Sigelei box mod 150w using it with Magma at 1.2ohms. When I place my magma on my new HB DNA40 (Wattage Mode) sometimes it reads at 1.15 or 1.16 or 1.17 and when I push the fire button the ohms jump from 1.15-1.19. On my ohm meter it reads 1.26. Keep a note that I didnt have any ohms jump on my Sigelei its always 1.2. So I am sure that the screws are tighten plus the connection on the spring loaded pin is good.

Is this normal or I have a defective hb dna 40?

Also using temp control with a Subtank mini plus nickel coils(0.15ohms) the rest resistance reading some times its 0.13 or 0.14 or 0.15 or 0.16. Is this normal? I am changing places which might have temperature impact?
Also if my rest resistance is 0.14 and I vape it for 1-2 hours and then place it on the table and come back to vape it again after half hour the ohm may jump to 0.15 or 0.16 (I dont use the atty lock)

I hope I was clear and looking for you advises and information.

Thanks

Thank you! Glad to be a part of it.
I had a black epoxy underneath my magnets so you probably got a higher grade epoxy. Mine came off from just playing the back cover (bad habit). The epoxy didn't look that thick either so maybe it's a new way they are doing it now.

This thread seams dead but is anyone out there still using this mod ? I have one in the mail and was wondering what kind of quirks I should be looking for. Seems like a decent deal for a nice box with an authentic evolv chip
All of it's issues we're addressed so you should be golden on the mod. If anything the magnets might get lose after several times of taking off the battery door. As my bottom magnet came loose last night, nothing super glue can't fix. Anyways still using my HB40 in a rotation or as a beater DNA40 and works like a charm :thumb:.

I just bought one of these used on eBay so I would have a genuine DNA 40 handy for comparisons and measurements (having never got around to fitting the chip I bought ages ago.)

I paid £45 for it on eBay, which was only £5 more than a DNA 40 chip on its own - so that's a whole mod for £5. Can't be bad :)

It's the v3 with atty lock feature. So I gather I should be on the look out for poor ground / wandering ohms? Why is it that nearly every mod I buy has potential ground issues! Oh well - sounds like it can be resolved with a tightening down in most cases?

Yours should be fine hence the version they redone some of the internals. So it should be solid inside. The older ones had the ground "clipped" on and the grounding screw was either too loose or too close to the box itself. With yours the screw should be on a raised platform as well as a copper screw. The grounding wire will be soldered as well.
