The following article was written in response to this paragraph that many of us have received via email or snail mail from the Evil Empire:

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted one limited study in July of 2009 and found that the products contained carcinogens and toxic chemicals, including the ingredients found in anti-freeze. A study conducted at Virginia Commonwealth University and published in February 2010 found that e-cigarettes deliver little or no nicotine to users.

Dugg. I really think that we could use a sticky with articles to digg. I've found quite a few that I missed by looking at other peoples profiles on Digg.

If we want to get attention through Digg, we are going to need ~150 diggs to hit the front page, not the 10-20 that I've been seeing.

You're right. That's a good suggestion.

Dugg.

Coupla things you may want to change:
para 2, "Virginal Commonwealth..." Virginia
Para 3rd last, 2nd sentence, "if they believes" believe

Thanks Vocalek for sharing you fabulous skills with us, you're amazing!

All fixed! Thanks for the proof reading. I wonder if the Virginal Commonwealth University accepts people who aren't.

Tell them you're a born again.....that may work.

Has anyone ever had any news about manufacturers making application to FDA regarding approval process...the last I saw anything was a few months ago on the DeKang(sp) website. Wouldn't that be a nice thing. Dreaming.

Check with JustJulie and Treece. Some guy representing an e-cig company showed up at the Illinois hearings and claimed that his company has filed with the FDA for approval as a smoking-cessation treatment.

Aaron Greenfield, attorney for Nicotine Sciences, spoke at the Illinois hearing and claimed that his client was in the process of applying for approval as a smoking-cessation product. He didn't give any details about what "in the process" meant, though. We were later told by others (and I have not substantiated this) that Nicotine Sciences = Gamucci.

We have also heard other vendors express an interest in applying for such approvals, although this is the first I've personally heard of someone actually claiming to have seriously begun the process.

LOL. Well, you can't see what happened in Illinois, but if you have some time to spare, you can certainly listen to it. Here's a link for the audio of the hearing: http://www.vapetube.com/video/563/Illinois-Senate-Bill-3174-Hearing-Audio

SB 3174 starts about two minutes into the audio, and the audio gets much better around that point. (There's something funky about the timer . . . it shows the audio as two minutes, but I can assure you it's more like 1 1/2 hours.) Towards the end of next week, I'll be posting the written transcript. The first draft is done, but it needs to be proofed and time stamps added, and I've been buried. :(
