Wow, I thought by page 4, someone else would've given an actual response to OP's inquiry, but alas I'm going to be the first.

vaping tends to dry my throat in a way that is slightly problematic, but I would say nowhere near serious. Now, I am still a smoker, so when it comes to health issues and vaping, I will admittedly blame smoking first and deny vaping could ever be the culprit. But the one noticeable time it came up for me is when I got a cold. I'm currently in a stretch where I get a cold every 3 to 5 years, so it had been a long time since I was nic user and had a cold. In the early part of that cold, I would've bet money that vaping would've continued without any problems and smoking would cut back. I would've lost that bet. When I was at place during the cold where ingesting anything seemed not possible, I would try to vape and it would hurt my throat instantly. After maybe 5 tries at different times with this pain i stopped. I then had a smoke and there was no pain. Tasted bad, of course, but when accustomed to being a nic user, taste can be secondary, especially during a cold.

So, since then, I've been more aware of this drying of the throat that vapor tends to do. Perhaps it is just me, I dunno. I admittedly don't drink plenty of fluids, which I recognize could help, but on days where I have drank plenty of fluids, the vapor was still noticeably having a drying effect.

With all that said, I really consider this a minor issue. Certain (healthy) foods will do slightly odd things to my system. I learn to live with these things, and will take a slightly dry throat over wheezing/coughing that comes from heavy smoking any day.

I suffered sinus problems throughout my time as a smoker. My sinuses used to be bad. Since switching to vaping my sinuses have been completely clear, for the first time in years! I feel good!
My sinuses are still somewhat clogged in the morning, or when I wake up in the middle of the night.
But nowhere near as bad as they were when I was smoking though.

And my sinuses are clear all day long now, at least after I clear out the morning congestion.
Whereas they used to be clogged nearly all day every day.

I know a guy who claims that the vapor exacerbates his asthma, but I've never heard of that before, so I don't know what to think. It's relevant to me though because my daughter has asthma. Is there anything to this?
I am not going to say one way or the other, because it certainly is possible that it can exacerbate asthma I suppose.
But mostly on this forum I have seen people saying that their asthma is much improved.

I also have a strong suspicion that a lot of people with asthma have the ability to imagine their way into problems.
Not that I am saying that is true for all, or even most asthmatics.

I did make one change. I noticed that my sinus problems were clearing up, so I quit using the decongestants and started a weekly saline based sinus rinse. It helped a lot. Something like this

I think many here are probably reluctant to talk about it. There was a link very early on that gives an excellent summary of reported issues involving both quitting cigarettes and vaping, and I can't add anything to that.

The problem is that there have been some recent "studies" which have combed through ECF and concluded that "Many e-cig users report health problems associated with their use based on an analysis of ECF posts".

So follow that early link. It's extremely complete.

Is vaping better than smoking cigarettes? Yes, of course. Are there any health consequences from vaping? I believe there are.

I believe that if you quit smoking cigarettes, without starting vaping, your health would improve more, and faster. But then, you might not have been able to quit smoking cigarettes. So yes, it's a miracle cure, IMO.

However, I still often experience a chest/lung tightness. I'm still frequently "out of breath", from simple things like tying my shoes, or chasing the doggies. I'm positive that I need to exercise more, and lose some weight. Maybe eat better. Can a person live on nachos and margaritas? Yes, but perhaps not optimally!

If you get a cold, a cough, or God forbid, Bronchitis ( which I currently have, I'm sick right now friends), do you need to quit vaping? Just like you used to quit smoking when you were real sick? I don't know. I'm so addicted to vaping (like I used to be to smoking), that I don't want to quit vaping even though I'm sick.

I guess we'll find out. I'm not going to quit vaping unless I have to. So far, even though I'm sick, I haven't felt the overpowering need to quit.

best regards, larry mac

Philw874, I think that when reading info about e cig use online. It is important to consider the source and know what to filter out as BS and what is really fact. There is a lot of BS out there on the net masquerading as fact.
I say this because there are several coworkers who vape and I noticed a few are slipping back to analogs, I asked one guy what happened and (this is my favorite excuse I have heard to date),,, he said he gave his rig away because he read on the internet that the chemical pg is used in e cigs to prevent you from drowning on the vg. He said, "I'm going back to smoking untill the do more research." I about sh** my pants laughing when he said that!!

Well, I used vaping to quit dipping tobacco, so my changes will be different than that of a smoker.

I almost never have issues with acid reflux anymore. Only have taken 1 Prilosec in the ~5 months since I have started vaping and that was due to an unhealthy portion of spaghetti and sausage.

My gums don't bleed when I brush them. They would stay white too if it wasn't for me drinking tea all the time.

I never really dipped in front of friends, but I feel comfortable vaping in front of them. So, less irritable due to consistent nic fix. Also, money saved from making trips to the gas station.

Pretty big pro's in my book. Especially the acid reflux issue.

Well, running the danger that this forum is sick & tired of reading about my tongue ... but here it goes anyway:

- After my 2nd week of vaping I developed Geographic tongue (pre-filled cartos, ciggalike). Had to stop using it, returned to tobacco.
- Went to GP and a dermatologist ... who both diagnosed the condition. So no BS here.

- e-VODS and Kanger tanks arrived, along with VG-only liquid.
- Tongue was still hell, so didn't try the new gear.

- Tongue got slightly better after a few weeks.
- Started vaping on new gear, tongue improved more rapidly but end of that week things became really bad again.

- Returned to tobacco (ryo). After quite a few weeks my tongue is OK-ish again but still can't eat anything too salty or abrasive (chips/crisps, hard bread or anything like that).
- Haven't had the guts yet to give vaping another try, but maybe soon.

There are 2 other guys on this forum with similar experiences. One has managed to solve the issue with rebuildable attys and believes its the equipment, not allergy or heat. I've not tried it yet.

I'm not arrogant enough to blame vaping exclusively for this, especially since I bummed a smoke now and then during vaping, so it could be a combination-factor. Who knows, maybe the 2nd time the condition flared up was just the nature of this condition (it waxes & wanes).

Am no medical pro and have made no clinical trials ... but you all can imagine how sad and frustrating this is

Any help or theories, however unproven, would be highly appreciated!
Thanks!!!

PS: Its not a health problem per se, and they call it benign ... yet it can get extremely annoying.

Could this be an allergy ? Have you ever tried brushing your tongue , or maybe using hydrogen peroxide with water as a mouth wash to kill any type of fungus ...

Thanks for the reply!
Yes, have tried everything except maybe the crazy stuff which involves full moon and frog legs.

Right now I'm trying a desensitizing method ... vape once a day, then twice ... gradually tipping the scale. Its basically what allergy injections do. Should it come back with a vengeance the last try will be getting different hardware, then trying different wicking material and so on. One forum member seems to have good success with it.

Thanks again!
