Really terrific photography Sharky!! When those go bad, they go REALLY bad. Is that the guy they were showing on the news?

Ok, that is a little more exciting than the VIP meeting. You are excused. LOL

When those things go bad, they go bad in a heartbeat. That is probably the guy you saw on the news. I didnt see the news all weekend but that was the big crash out there so I would assume that was the one on tv. Getting a good photo sequence like that is rare. I have shot one on the asphalt and one on the water. Most times it is just raw horsepower thundering down a quartermile which is impressive in itself.

As a matter of fact I had my Fish Chuck with me all weekend vaping away in between shots, and yes I did get many questions. If I had a dime for every time I pulled it apart to show it to people I would have 20 bucks. It was a very positive experience just like at other races I attend. Smokers and non smokers alike seem positive about it and want more info for themselves or their family. As for the photography it is something I love to do. Thanks for the compliment Terrie...

Still waiting for my Black Silver Bullet to arrive...

Perfect! Now you will make them all feel like "part of the family" LOL
A little shark family thats sure to grow..heehee So when is your next photo job? Is that what you do for a living or do you just do it as a hobby? You must have one hell of a camera since those are all high speed shots and the clarity is WOW...Terrie

It is a long time hobby that I enjoy immensely. I do make some money doing it but I have a full time day job that pays the bills. My next gig is out at Firebird in late January for the NHRA Test N Tune, then the NHRA Arizona Nationals in mid Feb, the NHRA Division 7 Opener in late Feb, and then the March Meet in Bakersfield in early March. Right now we are in the short off season which is very nice to have. A long year of traveling and shooting can wear you out. I use the Canon 50D with a 70 - 200 mm 4.0 lens for my action photography. And yes it was a high speed accident. The boat that crashed was doing about 180 mph and the first 3 frames were shot in less than half a second. The whole series of shots I posted here were shot in less than a second and a half. Some days you just get lucky and I would rather be lucky than good :D
