Hi everyone. Just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I am a 43 year old firefighter who has smoked since I was 17. I decided to try these electronic cigarettes, (21st Century), on a whim when I saw them at a local gas station. While not an exact replica of the cigars and cigarettes I am used to smoking, they have cut down on the amount I smoke by at least 50%. I found this forum and am currently researching what to get next. I like the simplicity of the prefilled cartridges but want to start experimenting with flavors. Any suggestions on what to start with?

Hello and Welcome to ECF Medicdawg,
Well done on cutting back on the cigs.:)

It's a little difficult recommending products when we don't know which form factor you would prefer.

If you like the cig-alike then Volts by Smokeless Image are highly regarded, they also stock prefilled carto's.

If you don't mind a larger form factor then the eGo style batteries are great, Twists or Spinners are highly recommended.

You could also buy blank cartomizers and fill them yourself it's not difficult to do and a lot cheaper, a lot of vendors have juice sampler packs add a few Vision Nano's to your order to sample juices easily. If you would rather go straight into larger clearomizers then the Vivi Nova and Kanger T3 give good results or you could opt for a cartomizer tank which is a punched cartomizer in a tank.

Have a read through Baditude's blog for more information on these products and deeper explanations on how they all work.

Best of luck and have fun vaping.;)

Welcome to ECF Medic. I too am new to the vaping game and have been tons of reading. There is a world of information out there. I would have to agree with meli in terms of knowing what form factor you are looking for. I currently have a Joyetech eGo-C setup that I do like, but I'm already waiting for my opportunity to order some Vision Spinners. One thing that seems consistent is a love for variable voltage batteries.

In terms of flavors, that's a whole other ballgame. Preferences are very subjective. Your best bet would be to order some sample packs from a few juice vendors to start getting an idea of what you like. There is a world of flavors out there, so be prepared to have a lot of fun.

Welcome Medic, and congrats on cutting down on the coffin nails! As far as flavors go, it's helpful if you can find a brick-and-mortar store that lets you sample their juices. I've bugged my B&M endlessly trying their flavors. To be honest, other than the tobacco flavors I haven't found much that I like - but like Michael says, that's VERY subjective.

I also vote for the eGo systems, at least to start. They're reliable, not too expensive and versatile.

Welcome and congrats on cutting down!!! blucigs helped me too but was not enough I work 12 hrs a day 5 days a week in a hospital and volunteer on the weekends with the squad as an EMT and I need my batteries to deliver, last and take a beating. so with that said I went with the ego-c upgraded battery and it was just like the size of a cigar and that was and is the one helping me to quit i got it from Electronic Cigarette, E Juice, Replacement Parts, Accessories and the juice I got it from johnsoncreeksmokejuice.com they have 5ml sample bottles.

Good luck and welcome

ah also look at some vids on youtube like http://www.smokenjoey.com/, grimmgreen and zee cigs I learn lots from these vids.
