Hello and thank you!

I started smoking when I was 17 (in 1998). Smoked about half a pack per day until 2007. Quit cold turkey for about two and half years, but started again in 2009. I promised my wife I would finally quit when she got pregnant, and then she did, so I had 9 months to quit. Ended up quitting on February 20th, 2016, the day before her birthday. I had been researching which mod/tank would be best for me, and not cost a fortune, but I also didn't want to get something too cheap and go back to cigarettes. Settled for an Innokin MVP 20W with an Aspire ET-S. Smoked my last cigarette while I was charging it and haven't had one since. I eventually bought an Aspire Nautilus Mini, but I still use the ET-S from time to time.

The first week wasn't easy, but it wasn't as hard as quitting cold turkey. I was still getting my nicotine, but I felt like something was missing. Maybe it was the instant gratification, maybe it was that feeling of fullness you get from inhaling smoke and finishing a cigarette, maybe it was the tar, I don't know... But I eventually stopped focusing on what I missed and started focusing on what I liked. No more coughing. No more smelling like smoke. No more bad breath. No more holes in my clothes. Regained my appetite. Gained some weight. Had more money. And there were countless mod/tank/juice combos to try and talk about with friends.

But above all else, I really loved the community. Everyone is there to help and encourage you. It's not a competition, it's not about having the newest gear, no one makes fun of anyone, it's simply about not smoking. You have all made this possible, for me and millions out there. So thank you for making this community one of the best I've ever seen, for helping us all quit smoking, and just keep doing what you're doing!

Amen.
I'd already "made it" by the time I found the forum, but no telling if I would've gone back. I kept researching best juices, best mtl tanks, etc., and always got directed to this forum. I'd never joined a forum of any kind before. You can learn more than I would've thought possible here, and it helped me get to the point that I know I won't ever go back to smoking (as long as there's vape supplies, anyway!). Unbelievable support here.

Welcome, congrats on switching to vaping, and very glad you are here. I am sure your wife is thrilled! You are correct, the longer you go vaping, the more enticing and enjoyable it becomes. I don't think anyone's quit is ever easy but I'm so glad you kept on plugging and I'm glad you are here. Welcome and a HUGE congrats :) :):banana:

Welcome and glad you joined.
Might like to read:
"Buying and Using an Electronic Cigarette: A Primer

The last thing you should know is that there is a learning curve.
This is not going to be as simple as picking up a cigarette and a lighter.
Parts will eventually die on you, so you'll need backups.
There are issues to overcome, and things to learn.
But in the end, it is well worth it to make the effort."
