Hello everyone - Need help convincing my dad...

My father has been smoking for about 20 years now and I'm really trying to get him off the analogs. I've been doing some research and decided on a 510 Starter kit with PCC and a usb passthrough. I asked him the first time if he was interested in using E-cigs and after explaining to him what they were he said yes (he has never heard of E-cigs or vaping) I asked him again today if he was interested and he said no :( He actually only smokes like 5 cigs a day but still. How should I convince him into buying an electronic cig? And also if we were to buy some e-liquid what strength nicotine should it be?

Also another question about refilling carts. Do you ever throw away your carts? Do you just throw them away when the little wick inside gets funky?

Also wanted to say that this is a great forum and thanks for the help :)

Been vaping for 2 weeks now on my 510 and still have the same carts. As far as the strength go for high. I think IMHO that you do not get as much nic as an analog( which I am still using:() If he only smokes a couple a day that should do it for him. And also get a bottle of juice for topping off will save in the long run. I think he will like the 510, I do.
Hope this helps

I convinced my mom just by vaping in front of her a couple times, and telling her how great it was working getting me to stop smoking real cigarettes. If you're not a smoker yourself I guess just get one and let him try it to see if he likes it. Try not to put it in a pushy way, maybe just like tell him the site you bought it from has a good return policy, and if he doesn't like it you can always send it back. Tell him all the positive things with it too, like he can keep his habit in a way that's not as unhealthy for him, and it tastes so good. A lot of people seem to fall for the "you can smoke anywhere even here in the mall!" thing, so you could try that too.

I hate to be the contrarian here, (well..........I don't really hate it)..........anyway. If you don't mind me asking how old is your dad?

I would have to say with a consumption of 5 cigs a day, the best options may be

1) quit

2) leave the guy alone. At more of an advanced age what difference is 5 cigs a day going to make? I know that many folks here have been applauded for cutting "down to" 5 cigs a day.

I certainly applaud your motives and it is always better not to smoke than to smoke, BUT the trade off of maint etc may not be totally worth it..................

Also, nagging someone(I'm not saying you are, but maybe your dad feels like you are?) is not always the best way to get them to switch............

Most of us here were smokers who couldn't or wouldn't quit for a variety of reasons. We know well that unless someone is willing and ready to commit, it just isn't gonna happen.

Some people who smoke only a few cigarettes a day cherish each one so much that they can find it extremely difficult to quit. As Elendil noted, nagging isn't likely to work.

I think your heart's in a great place, but beyond suggesting it and perhaps giving him one as a gift to try if he chooses to, I don't think there's much you can do unless he makes the decision for himself.

If you decide to buy him an e-cig, I would suggest getting extra carts with the kit instead of bottled ejuice. Keeping it simple at first might make it an easier adjustment. And since he smokes so little, I would suggest something lower than high nic.
