Hello everyone. I had a situation the other day, I've been using an e-cig for a few
months now, no problems with 16mg juice. I usually only do about a dozen or so hits
throughout the day. A couple days ago I decided i was going to try and clean out a
couple older atomizers I had laying around by blowing them out, it actually got some
weird stuff out of them, but when I took a puff from it later, i got this really gross burnt
metallic taste and my lungs got really sensitive to it. A few hours later when I went to
bed I started noticing my breathing getting very constricted to the point where I could
only stay upright and do shallow breathing (or else my chest felt like it was about to
burst). IBU profin helped a bit and let me relax a bit but about an hour later, it came
back with a vengence, needless to say I had my brother drive me to the ER, had some
x-rays and there was nothing abnormal, my blood pressure and heart rate were ok
as well. Doc said that it was some sort of lung irritation and should be better in a couple
days. It is better now being a couple days but I'm still not sure if it was the nicotine,
cleaning a really old atomizer, or something completely seperate since I only had a
couple puffs that day. Thank you for reading and hopefully I can get some sort of clarity
from the situation.

Hi deadgiveaway and welcome to ECF. Sorry about your issues. Attys, if used a lot, require a fair bit of maintenance. It might've been the gunk from the attys. Were you using a diff juice or getting your juice from a diff vendor? Some have also reported a sensitivity to PG. I only use cartomizers- less hassle.
Good Luck, Vapoor

What did you clean the atomizers with? If you used rubbing alcohol and didn't allow them to dry, that could be the issue. Rubbing alcohol is toxic if ingested.

It also could be a PG allergy you experienced. A while back, a woman on here had an anaphylactic episode that put her in the hospital. She can't vape anything with PG in it..not even flavorings. So you might try going to all VG and using cartomizers.

wow guys, thanks for the quick responses! Well, the e-cig I was using was a magma by volcano e-cigs and the liquid was made by the same company 16mg menthol burst, and actually I was down to the last few drops of it. Before this whole episode I just ordered a brand new Joyetech eGO-T kit, a sample pack of juices, and 5 extra cartomizers from vaporgod. I just blew in the atomizer to clean it out and some really dark funky juice came out of it, the whole thing just seems strange, and since I hardly had any vape that day...I don't know, I haven't smoked cigarettes in over 6 months...

Well at least your ok. There are lots of posts here dedicated to cleaning attys and unfortunately it's not an easy thing. Were you shaking your juice well before dripping?

you should always shake, but doubt it would create this kind of a reaction with just the remaining amount.

honestly though, it sounds like you were trying to smoke X in that atomizer weren't you, admit it now, that's exactly what happened to me when i did tha... umm, never mind, back to you.

;)

...thinkin they sat around for awhile and some sort of bacteria\mold started developing,,

That would've been my greatest fear. I picked up a nasty bug once that started as an earache and left me without a sense of smell for a couple of years.

Really relieved you're ok, deadgiveaway!

Atomizers can get gunky if juice is left in them and congeals. You might want to try a hot water wash. Run the sink hot water until it steams and then fill and drain the atty from the open end so that it leaks out of the battery end into the sink. Do this for several minutes, blow it out, and let it sit for a while to dry. Then, put it on the battery and pulse the switch until you can see a dull red glow in the atty barrel.

You might see wisps of smoke from time to time. That's old juice burning off the atty coil. This video is for tank atomizers, but the process is the same (except for the part where she takes out the spike plate). Just do the part where she runs hot water and drains it.

hey i have been having some pretty bad side effects from vaping so i thought..... turns out its the juice i was using. 30/70vg DOES NOT work well with me at all. the juice is from CCV and for some reason it makes me absoloutley sick. its either the 70vg or its the flavoring they use but needless to say i threw them out. the only juice that doesnt bother me is RY4 from ecigexpress 100%pg and i cut it down myself to 80/20vg. go figure.
