I am new to the e-cig world having just started three weeks ago. I have moved exclusively to the e-cig as of Sunday the 28th. My kids have been bugging me to move to e-cigs since their dad passed away in February. I have a friend that went to an e-cig but was not really informative about it and why she liked it. I did a bunch of research on “e-cigarettes” but it was pretty limited and went with my first purchase that I now wish I had not done due in part to the next day running into a guy at work that was puffing on something and it clearly wasn’t a cigarette. I stopped him and asked him about it and he hooked me up with the forum and madvapes. Turns out I should have opened my search to include personal vaporizers. Duh.
I made another couple of purchases for way less than the initial purchase and *POOF* a whole new world and less than two weeks into it I have quit the analogs and moved exclusively to the madvapes smoke. I have tried patches and gum among the many options with no long term luck. So I didn’t initially give up the analogs. I kept them nearby…well in the garage as there is no smoking in the house. I lit up a couple times in the week. It was to the point of I was just heading out in the morning with coffee so I filled a cartomizer with a stronger nicotine and took it out instead. Done! I learned some of my quirks with nicotine and when I actually craved it vs. just the motion of smoking. I adjusted accordingly and Sunday was day one of no analogs. I have even recently placed a few juice orders that were flavors that sounded interesting to me after reading the forums on the millions of options out there.
My very simple purchase from MadVapes was the 808D electronic cigarette starter kit in black. I mix the Red USA blend with Biscotti and love it every day all day. I am enjoying it enough to have shared the experience and purchased two more kits for a get together on Friday to share them with some friends. I still have not spent what I initially spent on the first order. I even ordered samplers of some of the many strictly tobacco flavors available. I also ordered some sampler packages of the stranger juice blends, to show some humor. I have a friend convinced she will eat more if she doesn’t have the analogs so I got some of her favorite flavors or as close to them as I could find. Now if there were doritos and oreos and bbq potato chip flavors and I missed them she can kill me later when she finds out. Let’s just get the door open like my kids did for me.

Welcome to ECF! Congrats on your conversion, and thanks for posting up a nice introduction :) I think a lot of us have concerns about weight gain when we switch but thankfully they are unfounded. Some even lose weight! Hope you enjoy the forum, it is full of friendly helpful folk and a positive mine of information on vaping.

KR808D-1 - great choice, the most popular 2-piece. I use the WOW carto blanks at Vapor4Life (as well as their WOWbacco and WOW Vanilla) and occasionally their WOW Vanilla prefills (they also have a WOW Tobacco Shop sampler that includes WOWbacco and its minty version WOWBoy) . Many like the blanks at SmokelessImage (Volt) and Bloogplanet (Maxxfusion). Sign up at Vapor4Life (I think lower left) to get sale notices - their shipping is a bit steep (like $7) so I only shop on sales (some sales require a $50 minimum purchase and some don't - it will say).

I also often use a plastic or delrin 510/901/KR8 drip tip as a mouthpiece instead of the endcap. I don't drip in it but it keeps my lips cool on hotter cartos like the WOW ones and it's easy to remove. If you bought auto batteries be very careful that a carto is not going to leak before you put it back on the battery - auto batteries are more easily damaged or killed by leaked juice and if a carto leaks it will do it right over the hole in the end of an auto battery. I use 80PG/20Vg juices or other juices I know are thin and I keep the carto damp to get about a week's use out of it. I also avoid any juices that seem to drop a lot of flavoring sediment (clogs cartos).

You can use a DSE901 atomizer (standard resistance) on a KR808D-1 to test juices (use a drip tip on it with a manual battery (drip tips not recommended on auto batteries), use DSE901 atty +`carts with an auto battery)
