Does the wire matter in a rda? Is it allowed kanthal or ss? Im going to buy the coil master v3 kit and stay within 0.05 ohms and 3.0 ohms oh and use 24-26ga. along with a samsung inr 25r r5 from illumn because they dont rewrap. and if the mod has 2 batteries then those batteriess are then paired for life. I already have a efest luc v4 charger i bought when i had kanger subbox mini
Those are good batteries for up to at least 120 watts, forget specifics. Good to know you already have some info. The coilmaster kits are very useful. Kanthal is wattage mode only whereas SS can be used in temp control or "wattage" mode ( whatever the standard variable wattage/voltage mode on the voopoo ). There are differences in resistance between Ka1 and SS: I think ss is lower resistance for the same amount of wire? Kanthal is a little softer so easier to work with at times... Try a 24 gauge 7 wrap with 2.5 inner diameter, dual coil setup. That's my go to basic build.

not a rewrap? afaik there are only 3 manufacturers of Li batteries: Sony, LG, and Samsung.

I am not sure if there can be two winners but i tried haha. Ive decided the wotofo vaporous rda is what im going to go with, it looks simpler than most rdas I have seen. Im also going to pickup the GeekVape Medusa reborn because idk about wotofos drip tip size might be hit or miss. And some company's just rewrap batteries as something else so you don't really know what you're getting. Thanks again to all.

I almost bought a medusa reborn in blue because I love the way it looks and it should be an easy deck to build on, velocity style I believe, however it has a small tank... Very small. But that also goes towards more compact size...

ok so after doing a little checkup on samsung inr 25 r5 they can go down to .15 ohms at 70w. Are there any batteries that will let me basically do whatever i want on the device safely, like build down to 0.05 to 3.0 ohm at 5-157w? Do i even need to go below .15 ohms or higher than 70w?

That's not the correct way to look at it. For a regulated mod you want to know the continuous discharge rating ( accurately, which not all manufacturers are truthful about ). IF the 25r does 25 amp cdr, in a one battery mod you are good using up to a certain amount of wattage, a two battery mod is double that, etc. Again, I forget the specifics...

I've been hoping someone like @Baditude Would pop in and link some battery spec charts...
Since the current topic is for regulated mods, I'm guessing you mean these?

With a regulated mod, coil resistance is irrelevant. What is relevant is the wattage setting that you will be using.

-If you use a good quality 15 amp CDR battery like the Samsung 30Q or Sony VTC6, then you are good up to 45 watts per battery; 90 watts using two; 135 watts for three batteries.

-If you use a good quality 20 amp CDR battery like the LG HG2 or Samsung 25R then you are good for 60 watts per battery. If using a 2-battery regulated mod, you're good for 120 watts as you have two batteries. If you are using a 3-battery mod, you're good for 180.

-If you use a single 25 amp CDR battery like the Sony VTC5A, then you are good for 75 watts per battery, 150 watts for two batteries, and 225 watts with three.

-If you use a single 30 amp CDR battery like the LG HB6 you are good up to 90 watts; with a pair of 30 amp CDR batteries you could safely do 180 watts.

Well congrats on moving up the vaping ladder! I'm not a huge fan of unregulated, steady wattage output setups myself they are so much less flexible.

I'm glad you got good battery advice, and make sure to purchase from a recommended seller so you don't wind up with counterfeit batteries and etc.

These are both great blogs for battery safety and other issues, mooch's blog has a table listing cells he has tested and the last cell provides battery vendors who are known to sell authentics. You'll also want a good external charger, some good brands include Xtar, nitecore and Efest (charger, not batteries). You may want to purchase a couple pairs, so you can swap them out easily. It's generally not recommended to charge via USB in a dual battery box mod (you can in a pinch, but routinely, it's not a great idea, you can wear out your USB port and some mods, batteries can charge unevenly and etc.

Best of luck, and welcome to ECF! Congrats on switching to vaping that's fantastic. ;0

What should I do buy more coils and just see if those were just a bad bunch or just get a new vape? Been looking at the voopoo drag along with some rta or rda but im kind of confused on the rta/rda's can they take any ohm coil build aslong as the box mod can see it (like how voopoo drag is 0.05ohm to 3.0 ohm) or does it have its own regulation to go by?
Welcome and glad you joined.
I would look seriously at RDA's. Nothing beats them for flavor.

Since you have this mod im just going to go ahead an ask, what ohm coil do u use, im thinking of doing .3 ohm 24 ga, ss, dual coil and just see how it goes from there, when i get it. It should be a cooler vape, if all goes as planned. So far im just doing tons of researching.

I used 28ga kanthal, twisted two strands. 7 wraps with 3mm inside diameter gave me .37ohms. Im hitting this with 90watts. Im getting a really flavorful vape and clouds that fog up the kitchen pretty quickly. Im using humble juice, smash mouth. This is kinda thick and sweet so i rewick about every 2 or 3 days. Btw, at 90w, the vape is warm but not overly so. But thats kinda the sweet spot for this particular juice.
