Well I figured out my problem. It was due in part to "mode 1" but the real issue was that my 18650's were not fully charged. After fully charging them the performance issues are gone (though I still prefer the vape from stacked 350's, however there is just an ever so slight difference and not the glaring one that was previously present) and that delay/drop out is gone.
I feel like a dope but hey, I'm new to the battery game so I guess it's a learning process. Thanks to all of you who have offered help and suggestions.

Yes, i've used both flats and buttons in short mode.
If you are going to stack, I would use the flat tops, but I don't stack myself.
I stack two efest button top 18350s. It works but I can't screw the cap in all the way. Flat tops would work better if you stack.
Some ppl are complaining that when stacking 18350s the cap won't screw all the way down, do the aw's have the same issue or are they short enough?toothboy:8065038 said:

you sure could..I have a paracord wrap so it would even cover the gap lol..I did think about doing that earlier but the tailcap bothered me so little that I haven't tried it yet..
i use 2 nipple tops and it screws on just fine. and i have also notcied a big performance boost using 2 batteries instead of 1
