Thats amazing well done that is such a great achivement :)
All your comments have given me motivation and inspiration I think I needed that :) My boyfriend is not very supportive he just keeps telling me if you want to give up then just dont smoke lol if only it was that easy lol
But I will do it I will just take each day at a time :)
Thanks again for all your help and comments

Welcome, Donna!

You didn't become a smoker in one day. You shouldn't expect to quit in one day. There are a few lucky ones who were able to do so. I was not one of them.

You've received some great advice here. Be patient with yourself. It sounds like you're achieving some success with the higher nicotine. Your body will let you know when it's had enough. Dizzy, headache, nausea. Take a breather. Drink plenty of water as well.

It is a one-day-at-a-time journey. Each of our paths is different. Don't beat yourself up - think of all the ones you don't smoke during this time. And come back here if you need a pep talk :)

Cheers!

Thank you and well done on your stopping smoking :) Its so nice hearing everyons storys.
Welcome to the forum :)

I'll chip in with my story as I managed to quit my 40 year smoking habit with an E-smart, though it wasn't long before I upgraded (and that was thanks to the wealth of information here on ECF). I did dual use for about 6 weeks and then (when I realised vaping really could work), made the decision not to buy any more cigarettes - that was over 3 years ago now and I haven't had even a puff on one ! I did have cravings for a couple of months, particularly first thing in the morning, but it does pass. I started on 18mg and have now gone down to 12mg where I'm happy to stay.

@Bonskibon's suggestion of an iStick and Nautilus mini sounds good to me and is what I still use a lot of the time. The great thing about vaping is that you can tailor it to suit your needs.

Good luck !

Thank you I have put the 24 mg in and since doing that it seems alot better not had another craving yet so must be helping :)

Welcome and so nice to meet you!

When I started vaping, I was determined it would work.. I went through withdrawals at first (but my initial set up was beyond crap! ) I had smoked for 32 years two packs a day of full flavors, and it was so difficult for me to quit.

What I did first off, was to stop the taste temptation of cigarettes by buying only dessert flavors that I enjoy.. (for me that's stuff like cinnamon roll and apple pie etc) instead of tobacco flavors.

In order to make the transition from cigarettes to vaping, I simply refused to smoke, no matter how bad I wanted to.. for this, I had to have a lot of willpower, as my husband smokes, and smoked around me all through this..

To deal with the withdrawals, I stayed in bed for the first three days and literally chain vaped... I also tried for the first week not to deal much with people in general. I knew what my smoking triggers were, and I avoided all of those triggers at all cost in the very beginning, as well as avoided general stress. There was a solid month I had to avoid my triggers.

This way is not for everyone.. but it was how I needed to do it.. Personally, I was never a dual user.. after going two full weeks of not having even one cigarette, I caved on a craving and lit up one of my husband's smokes. it tasted SO BAD that it made me brush my teeth several times, and literally it made me want to vomit..

After that, I never wanted another cigarette so long as I had my vaping gear.. they were disgusting.

I have a friend who I told how I quit, so she did the same thing I did, made it through the first two weeks no matter how bad the cravings were, only vaped dessert flavors - while chain vaping through the withdrawals - and then at the two week mark had one of her husband's cigarettes, and it worked for her too.. she is smoke free since August..

But, this way is not for everyone.. it's probably the hardest route to take, but it gets you off the cigarettes fast, and gets you to where the taste of one is utterly disgusting which definitely helps end all cravings for a cigarette..

Whatever route you take to quit, do what works for you personally.. because in the end.. it's all about quitting smoking, and your journey is a personal one..

I do however third getting a decent set up with a good tank, the previous suggestions were fine

Wow Thank you for sharing, your an inspiration to get through really struggling that is so inspirational :)
I think if im still struggling to quit in a couple of weeks then I would seriously consider maybe going way on my own for a few days as I still live at home with family its very hard getting any alone time and get stressed out so easy I think getting away and avoiding people for a few days would be benifical :)
Your story and all the other storys on here have gave me so much motivation and no matter what it takes I will quit :)

ECF was my lifeline when I was getting started too. One day you'll be here helping out another person! We've all been through the same stuff and it is a pleasure to lend a hand to another smoker when they're working to switch. Just ask whenever you need something and there's always somebody who can help you out!

Just to add a little something... be aware that it is not just the nicotine that your body will go into withdrawals for... all the other poisons have a hold on many, and believed that vaping wasn't going to work because they figured that they weren't getting the "nicotine fix", while the truth was, no amount of nicotine would have helped, some even ended up with "over-nicotining" themselves that made them even sicker, but in time they fought through it, and did quit and either still vape today or have given it up for good.

And depending on the damage done, you may cough a lot, which is going to be your body "healing" as it cleans up the tar and other crap from your lungs and system... another thing that causes some beginners to fear that vaping is "bad" for them when it's quite the opposite happening.

This varies by person, some a week, some a good month...

Just hold on and fight it through...if you're determined, there's light at the end of that tunnel.

Thanks for the advice :)
I think as I have got older and become more wise to all the chemicals in cigarettes thats fueled me too quit even more when I was young you dont even think about whats in them.
I cant wait when im completly quit to have that cough and know that my body is healing I have been smoking for about 15 years more heavily for about 8 years im expecting some unpleasant side effects but like you said it will just be my body healing which will be an amazing feeling :)

Welcome and glad you joined. No problem, just go ahead and smoke when you feel you need to. You have not found the right e liquid and vape equipment. Vaping is fun and not meant to be a substitution for smoking, when done right, it far exceeds smoking.

i'm a dual user for about a week when I first started vaping, during that first week I cut down the number of smoke to 1 or 2 a day (from pack a day smoker). I chain vape to satisfy the cravings. As others have suggest, try a higher nic level and probably better gear for a better vaping experience.

And for me, I personally avoid tobacco flavored liquids, because vaping to me is NOT a substitute for smoking, but a whole new experience to HELP me quit smoking, hence I tend to avoid reliving my "past experience" by not vaping tobacco flavors, lol, if that makes sense.

Welcome Donna and don't get discouraged. I was a 3 pack a day for over 32 years and decided that I wanted to get healthy so I could enjoy playing with my grandchildren without running out of breath. I started out 24MG of nic but where I enjoyed smoking I had to find a way to make the taste of them unappealing so I got flavors that were pastry and like caramel expresso flavored liquids, I didn't want tobacco flavored liquids because I feared I would never be able to fully rid myself of the desire to pick a cig back up. As soon as I got my vape I put away all my lighters and left the half pack of cig on the dash of my truck. I was 2 weeks into my quit and other than coughing out all the garbage 30 plus years of smoking had left settled, was doing fine until I dropped my vape at work and broke the tank.
stressed out I remembered the half pack of smokes in my truck granted they had been baking in the summer sun for 2 weeks but I lit one up took one drag and hurled it was so disgusting tasting that it made me throw up. That was almost 4 years ago and I'm down to 3 nic in my liquids, I can run and play with the grandbabies and won't have to stop every 10 seconds to catch my breath.
I always had a smoke with my morning coffee so when I started vaping I had tea in the morning instead so the urge to smoke wasn't there and I designated a cereal flavor for my morning vape, and had my coffee after getting to work. you have to break habit connections within your daily routine until you are past all the cravings and no longer associate your morning cup of Joe with a cig, stuff like that. I agree with everyone here that your rig is slightly outdated and upgrading to top box mini by Kanger or an istick with a Nautilus mini would better your chances of making a successful transition. Remember that the only things that can defeat you are those you allow to do so, and True determination is indomitable. good luck and remember you're not alone the fine folks of ECF are here when you need them

Lol All the vaping stuff looks so cool way more attractive than cigarettes lol
Shinyitis is a real thing, so many things to play with. I try to keep my spending to what I would have spent on smoking, and feel better than I have more to show for it than a pile of stinky butts and ashes.

Thank you for your advice everyone has been so helpful on here I really appricate it :)

Being active here on ecf was a huge part of my success. Any time you have a question or need a bit of motivation you can find it here. Lots of friendly and helpful people here.

when done right, it far exceeds smoking.
Smoking was a burden, vaping is truly a pleasure. I hope you are able to find what really works for you, when you do you'll wonder how you ever continued to smoke. I was one of the lucky ones, my transition was pretty quick. My husband still dual uses but he's working on it. I can't ask for anything more.

Welcome to ecf!

I am helping a friend, sending her tanks, items to help her transition. She is going through the same. She decided to have a cig in the morning (which I used to know quite well) and just last week she told herself she wasn't going to buy another pack. She is making new friends at vape shops, hanging out with them (great support). Her big problem, as we all have had is finding the juice we really like! I myself bought my first kit 2.5 years ago and that day I threw away my cigs. Never looked back. Told myself "this is all you have from now on". I think once you find your spot (tank, coils, ohm or sub ohm, and juice) you will use it alot.
My puppy smells better since I quit smoking and food tastes great.
Hang in there, you have a great support group here to help.

Hi Donna
Lots of good advice given and I'd reiterate the relax part. There's no rush to quit the stinkie's after all what's a few more days weeks or even months in the grand scheme. Get yourself to the point of actually enjoying the vape and the rest will come relatively easy.
Try some non-tobacco juice.
