I started vaping a couple weeks ago and love it. Gave up analogs and am thrilled about it. But I'm missing something, TASTE!!! I've ordered from at least 5 of the top rated venders here. Even had some long enough to say it "steeped" a couple weeks. Just made a big order (for me) from a well loved ecf supplier and asked for extra flavor. Everything tastes the same. Boring and bland with just the smallest hint of flavor. AArgh! The only thing I have tried with the punch I am looking for is firecracker from PureSmoker. It is great, but I don't want to vape sweet cinnamon every day all day. Why can't anything else I order even have 1/4 the flavor of that? I know people talk about taste buds not working after smoking and all that, but I have a pretty good palate for food and wine and can taste subtleties and complexities. E-juice? All tastes the same. Any suggestions?

Sorry for the long rant. Can you tell I'm frustrated? LOL

It may help others provide some help and guidence if you provide a description of the equipment you are using to vape with
Sure, I am using a Joye Ego and 510 attys. I have tried regular and LR 510s. Still no flavor. I switch out batteries every day and have never let one go all the way dead. I am dripping. I don't want to mention specific vendors or flavors in a bad light, I know other people seem pleased with the same juices. For example, right now I am vaping a flavor that I read a 4 page thread about. Everyone on there was practically addicted to it. I bought a big bottle and....you guessed it, I can't hardly taste a thing at all :( I had even ordered it with extra flavor. I know from the firecracker experience that vaping can be flavorful, but for the life of me I can't find any other options...yet. I'm not giving up. I just don't want to go broke trying.

Is this just a new thing for you? Were you able to taste flavors before?

If yes to the above, you are going through what was dubbed a while back as the "Bad Taste Bug". Vaping cinnamon, menthol and strong coffee flavors help during this time because they are stronger in flavor :)

You need to:
Stay hydrated, vaping dehydrates causing cotton mouth
Vape the above posted flavors
Chew gum that contains xylitol, that helps with saliva production

I went through this at the 2nd or 3rd week of vaping....it WILL pass in a day or so...for me it changed overnite :). I never had problems tasting the flavors of my food either...

:thumb:Congratulations doubledown welcome to the club.
I drip also and I have found that there is a taste difference between dripping and cartridges/cartomizers. Wouldn’t hurt to give them a try.
After trying a dozen different brands I found the e-liquid from Wordup has the best tobacco flavors. Very unusual taste that I really like.

Thanks guys. I'll take all your suggestions into account. When y'all vape, do you get what you would call a big strong taste, or is it just more of a hint of a taste? Maybe I'm just expecting too much. When I tried the cinnamon flavor I just thought"Wow, this is what I was expecting vaping to be like all along".

DD - I use the same rig as you. Been analog free for 72 days. All people are different and so are tastes and vaping styles but:

1) about 6 week into this I had the same issue. Could not get a satisfying hit. Favorite juices seemed different/tatseless.
2) Almost grabbed an analog one Sunday when I had my worst day of vaping. Could not get what I was looking for out of drip, cartos, LR atty. Nothing worked that day. I did not grab the analog and went to bed
3) Next day things tasted a little better
4) Last four weeks my LR atty's are doing it (I really dig the Cisco LR 306's) but like you I find the flavors not as intense as I originally did. This my be a vaping maturity thing. You get used to it and keep looking for that intensity that you had the first time
5) Now I enjoy the big TH and the complexities and subtlety of the flavors in my various favorite juices
6) I have found that switching throughout the day between a few favorites cleanses the taste buds

Keep with it!!!!

I often find myself losing taste late at night after vaping all day. When that happens, I switch up the flavor or go to menthol. My taste is usually back by the next day.

I think the most likely explanation is that your taste buds are still coming back.

One thing you might try is exhaling through your nostrils. A lot of what we attribute to our sense of taste actually comes from our sense of smell. Exhaling through your nostrils forces you to smell the flavor, enhancing the perceived taste.

I had the same exact thing happen to me for about a month after i stopped smoking. I ordered tons of samples from all different vendors and couldn't taste anything. I was seriously thinking people were making up their reviews or were paid by the juice suppliers to review, either that or they were just nuts lol.. I had tried both the ego mega cartos, cartridges with low resistance atomizers, and dripping.. couldn't taste anything. I had a few that I could taste during that period.. french vanilla coffee and peaches and cream from nhaler octane, tennessee cured from johnsons creek, dekang ry4 and dk tab (bought prefilled mega ego cartos). needless to say I was pretty bummed to have bought 60 some odd flavors all of which where tasteless to me. At around the month mark, i tried some of them again and sure enough I could start to taste some of the flavors people had described in their reviews. Now Im slowly going back threw them to see if I actually like them. Some I now enjoy daily, others seem weak in flavor but I can identify them at least, some still tasteless.

My favorites now:
wordup ecig: closest I found to tasting/feeling like a light cigarette. they also offer a lot of diff cigarette flavors. I like their b&H, and mr misty, 555 is decent
backwoods brew: love the malty toffee and cappucino. i enjoy the ry4 on occassion but the tobacco base has a kick to it so I have to be in the mood.
ms ts: snickerdoodle is awesome
dekang: still like ry4 and dk tab, I get it from lite cig usa

It will pass!

Thanks Roxanne. Sounds like there is hope. I too get "decent" flavor from Malty Toffee and Snickerdoodle. Firecracker is the only one out of 25 or so juices I have bought that really has that "wow" factor for flavor. Almost like I just ate a box of red hots :) Just wish they were all like that. I will wait it out and see if taste improves.

I didn't see this mentioned so I'll give my take.

When you eat, your tongue & nose do the tasting. When you vape, it is almost all nose.

When a flavor wanes, I exhale through my nose. That usually boosts tastefulness.

If exhaling through the nose doesn't make any difference, I have to clear out my sinuses. I use saline water, but whatever method works for you is good.

And, yes, the longer you don't burn cigs, the more receptors come back. Flavors that were good in the beginning I now find almost overwhelming and weak flavors from back then seem more normal. I still like a strong flavor, but have noticed that I drift to lighter flavors more often.

I've had to clear the sinuses even though I did not have any of the symptoms normally associated with them being clogged. I could breathe fine and didn't have any runny nose, but had plenty of gunk get flushed out with a cleaning and was amazed at the difference.

Just my thought. It's easy to test and while not fun, cleaning out that stuff is not hard.

I am on the other side of the taste spectrum.

I can hardly notice the difference between sweet and tobacco juice even after 15 months of been smoke free.

What works for me is just a strength of the juice, I am in peace as soon as I have at least just a hint of some smell (doesn't matter what smell it is).

BTW I know some people on ECF are satisfied with unflavored juice.

I should add, the initial flavors that got me through weren't "wow" to me, just the ones I could taste :) im not sure what flavors you like but in addition to the ones I mentioned that helped in the beginning, bwb espresso is a very strong coffee flavor also, and tasty vapor's tasty finger is a very strong chocolate flavor, and ms ts banana creme pie is a very strong banana flavor, alien visions watermellon overload for strong watermellon.

I've just had a strange experience. I have been vaping some hopscotch from FSUSA on and off for a couple of days. Lots of people say they love it. For the first couple days...nothing. Weak, plain, little to no flavor. All of a sudden last night I started to taste butter on the back of my throat. Today I've been hitting it all day. Lots of butter flavor with every puff. Just weird lol. If this happened with food, I'd starve...then binge....then starve haha.
