one fold stalled at 99% and did not come back...was running for two days...

Dunno, maybe go into the UI and perform a pause and refold? Worst case, might have to reboot and hopefully it will restart with your completed WU.

Just a thought, but I would hate to see you lose alot of work. Maybe Thrasher can shed some light on this one.

I think your voltage seems fine, but your temps are very high. Maybe reseat your cpu cooler and check both the surfaces for trueness. Reapply some thermal paste, reseat, and see if your temps drop.

I lapped a very concave processor once and it dropped the temps considerably. I don't recommend this, and only perform as a last resort. If you find uneven surfaces start with the proc cooler first ... cuz as we know "stuff happens"

It's just unstable. The higher temps are cuz I'm lazy and cheap and went with a Corsair h50 on this i7. It's a first gen Bloomfield d0 which typically run hotter. Luckily the die cover is pretty flat, as is the water block. Temps are 71,70,70,70 which is pretty even Imo. But it still fails prime. I lowered it back to 3.8 and temps are in the 60's. Prime going strong. If anything with the slight under clock I can tighten the timings on my ram. Won't help folding and probably won't notice any gains in real world but ill be able to smile at it. I dont think the loss of 200mhz but adding hyper threading is bad... 8 threads instead of 4 - 200mhz is still roughly 20% more productive for folding. Not sure if my games will really suffer from the 200mhz reduction but who knows.

I have too many hobbies. And too many planned purchases to acquire the video card I want... Meh lol

Installed and running! I'll let it run 24/7. This is a great idea, Thanks!

PS- It mentioned during installation that I can change the CPU usage? I don't see where to do that.

You can change cpu usage by enabling advanced mode, going to configure, clicking on advanced tab, and moving the slider for percent cpu usage to your desired percentage.

Thanks. How long does it take to get enough points to qualify as part of the team?

Once you finish your first work unit and get points for it you'll be included in the team as long as you have the team set. Also, make sure you use a passkey. Once you complete 10 work units you'll acquire bonus points.

No problem.

I'm on my pc now. Got extremely irritated with my phone. 3.8 seems stable but haven't tested it long enough. The main reason I am posting on my pc is because I wanted to expand on what I said about completing 10 work units. If you set the client to advanced mode, and then set the max-packet-size to small for both GPU and SMP, you'll complete 10 work units much faster than if it is set to default. There is a link a page or two back that explains adding variables to the program. Hope this helps. :)

Edit: Once you've completed the 10 WU's you can then erase the flags or set them to 'normal' or 'big'. The bigger the WU, the more points you get. And the faster you complete it - the more points you get. I would only recommend the 'big' flag if you're running quad core/hyper threading plus 6+gb memory otherwise you may not meet the deadlines for the bigger WU's.

It depends on how long it takes you to fold your first work unit as one unit successfully folded makes you part of the team. You can monitor the progress of your unit in the F@H Control Panel. Be sure once your first unit is complete and submitted to F@H you request your "TeamECF" title (optional) as described on the very first page of this thread....:) Feel free to ask any other questions you may have as there's lots of knowledgeable people on the project around here.

EDIT: Application form to get your title:

As I suspected, the loss of 200mhz is negligible with HT enabled. I'm still averaging ~25k PPD per the client estimate. If I can get my hands on a 670... or two...

I tell you, once I get about 1200.00 saved up it's game on.....lol. Actually I'd settle for retiring my GTX275 with a single 670 for now anyway....thing/275 likes to use lots of electricity for sure.

Problem is, as I mentioned before, I have too many hobbies and planned purchases. Vaping, gaming, shooting, pc's, modding my jeep, etc... it all gets expensive. Don't fret - I was just reading up about the 670 and apparently it doesn't do much more in terms of PPD over, say, a 5xx series Ti card. So I might hold off.
