Woke up to this...

15:04:59:WU01:FS01:Connecting to assign3.stanford.edu:8080
15:04:59:WU01:FS01:News: Welcome to Folding@Home
15:04:59:WARNING:WU01:FS01:Failed to get assignment from 'assign3.stanford.edu:8080': Empty work server assignment
15:04:59:WU01:FS01:Connecting to assign4.stanford.edu:80
15:05:00:WU01:FS01:News: Welcome to Folding@Home
15:05:00:WARNING:WU01:FS01:Failed to get assignment from 'assign4.stanford.edu:80': Empty work server assignment
15:05:00:ERROR:WU01:FS01:Exception: Could not get an assignment

Several times... and this is on SMP, not GPU... why is folding such a PITA now? Off to find out what I borked...

Edit: Got it folding again, had to set it for advanced WU's. But ...? This doesn't seem disease related... Folding@Home Projects is what was assigned lol

Were you able to pick up a new WU after that?

I think smp folding is fairly new for Win machines so the bugs may still being worked out. I've been smp folding since 2008 without any problems on my mbp (no longer folding on it due to Version 7 FAH not working on it and now on my iMac with Version 7). I know smp did not work with Win machines back then, only worked with Macs.

Strangely enough, all of my PC's are running SMP clients. *shrug*

Bee, I did find a PC that I was working on prior to the Christmas break had the same time-synch issues that you had yesterday. Restarting the PC, and running the client resolved the issue. I'm guessing the PC being off, and losing synch with the F@H server caused the synch errors.

That's the thing Dusty - I hadn't turned the machine off when that happened. I had done a windows update the day before - paused the WUs - closed the program - updated, re-booted.

beeb, when I was folding on a windows machine I use to lose wu if I did updates that needed re-booting to complete. The same with my MBP. I now only do updates when I start a new wu to be on the safe side. That way I don't really mind if I lose a wu.

I didn't lose those...those WUs completed :)

I'm trying to find out more info... but apparently bigadv units now require 16 cores. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Now I have to upgrade lol...

Would 8 machines with 2 cores equal one of these?! :D

lol if there was a way to link them all... lol. I just priced out a server build ... not happening. But the thought of dual 8core cpu's (not logical) just... makes me warm and fuzzy...

I am, however, planning a 64GB / i7-3930K build...
