Hi everyone,
As a returning ‘Newbie’, I started out with a Joye 510 set-up 8 years ago. I want to keep the ‘pen style’ or something close to it, but I like the ‘tank’ that holds more e-liquid so I don’t have to keep ‘dripping’ e-liquid. I’m considering the following starter kits, and would love to know what you guys think:

Joyetech eGo AIO Kit ($18.95 – great price and watched a great video)

Aspire K4 Quick start kit ($32.95)

Kangertech SUBVOD starter kit, ($30 - $40)

My main concern is getting a good vapor output and not have to be constantly fooling with the thing. My preferred e-liquid is ‘Pepsi’ and a tobacco flavor I ordered in the past ‘555’ similar flavor to my Marlboro ‘special blend’ brand.

If there is another starter system that I should consider, please let me know and THANKS for helping me get started. I really need to be DONE WITH ANALOGS!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

Unless you know you want to vape at a certain power, (quite high) avoid the non-adjustable tube battery mods.

The AIO and K4 kits vape at a certain power. You can only change that after you buy new atomizer heads if it doesn't suit you.

I cancelled my AIO. The K4 on paper looks to be quite frankly ludicrous.

The Subvod is the most gentle vape but is still quite powerful. I used mine today for a 200 miles round trip for work. It drinks liquid as fast as my V8.

To me, none of them are 'starter' kits. They are kits, and you can get started on them, but the vaping industry is seriously losing it's way.

Hello, I don't know if I a any help but I just bough a starter kit, I have a Vaporesso Target 75w mod and a KangerTech tank. I like the design and it fits kinda perfectly in my small hand, seems natural to me. I really like it a lot because it seem really durable. I am def still a complete newbie so I know it is very important to do my own research and learn as much as possible :)

I often recommend an iStick 30 watt with an Aspire Mini Nautilus or eLeaf GS Air M (both tanks). Videos below.

BrotherBob, I have been checking out the above threads and that's where I've found starter kits and info; A dizzying array of choices, yikes!

I am still totally overwhelmed with making a decision, and djsvapour, your recommendation confused me. It seems I need to buy perhaps the Kanger SUBVOD mega TC starter kit, as well as purchase a mini Nautilis ... is that the atomizer/cartomizer? Remember, my only experience with vaping has been the Joye 510 over 6 years ago..... I smoke about one pack per day of Marlboro gold special blend. I want this to be my LAST carton of analogs.

I want to purchase online and have looked at products at myvaporstore, cignot, and wordup.

More input is needed from this returning newbie; I really need to get the right thing and I'm not ready to graduate to a 'box'. I think they look a bit ridiculous. No offense. I just can't picture it for me yet; it's just not where I am at right now, but do need something as close to an AOI as possible. THANKS!!!

Let me try to help a little more. I have a Subvod kit (the slimline version 1,300 battery).
With the tank that comes in the kit, it's a little more powerful than I would choose. It's a great vaping product, but it's taken me nearly 4 years to get this far.
Personally, the TC kit is of no interest to me.

Somehow, I get the feeling that you need to watch some videos and see just what these devices do.
The AIO produces more vapor than the Subvod (standard kit). The K4 will produce even more.

If you want something that vapes a little stronger than an old technology kit and has a reliable system and hold enough liquid to do plenty hours then those choices are not great i.m.o. They are all Subohm devices. They will fog up your environment & use liquid at 4ml-10ml a day.

Also, despite what you read on these forums, it isn't necessary to vape at such power levels to quit smoking. My Subvod makes many times as much vapor as my wife's cigarette smoke.

If ever there was a word for what the vaping industry calls the latest products for beginners, that word would be overkill.

Look at the vapor from an Innokin Endura T18 (Phil Busardo review) and compare that to something like the iJust2 (Vapor Trail Channel review).

I like the AIO. However, that 2 mil tank is still going to need to be refilled often, esp if you continue with the 0.6 ohm coil it comes with. If you swap out the 1.0 ohm coil or the 1.5 ohm clapton, you'll get more mileage out of a tankfull. I got mine for $14.95 at sweet-vapes.

I use it more for an out and about device, not for my main at home device...more of a grab and go type thing.

Good points. The 1.5ohm coils would put the AIO back into the 'normal power' band for me and save on liquid.

It also won't fog out the kitchen....

Just wish I could click 'checkout' on one of these (AIO and two packs of coils). The latest thing to worry me is cleaning the tank....

Anyway, it's low cost with decent running costs over a period of time.

I have one in the basket but I also have a cubis tank (and 2 packs of coils) as an alternative.

I'm vaping 18mg in the Cubis with the 1.5 ohm Clapton @ 15 watts as I type this. I have been really pleased with the tank over the last month. Hoping to get a couple more soon...

Yes... I think the Clapton coil is where I'll start.
Thanks for the input! :)

I'm only a few weeks into this and I found 2 set-ups that "feel" good. I got a KangerTech Topbox mini which is nice because it allows me to play with wattage to see what's good for me. I also got a Vaporfi Vice starter kit. It's smaller than the KangerTech which I like but it only has one setting but is adequate. Good luck and keep on vaping!

Oh dear. I just read this. You know everything is readily available for about half the money without the branding. Some products are even 30% of the price.
A company that sold a $29.00 ego kit for $119.99 and said for an entire year it was reduced from $279.99.

They are the monsters of the e-cig world. I'd hate for a newbie to go searching for a product that should be $30 and pay $99.99

I really appreciate the valuable input from all of you. I'm still reading 'newbie' information and am slowly learning the differences with all of the many choices. I plan to visit a smoke shop tomorrow and may buy something if they can start me off with a 'kit' that is reasonably priced. After doing quite a bit of research already, I know I can get something great for well under $50, but thanks for the warning.

I warmed up to the Halo tank system that looks like something I would like. It looks like it is sold in the UK.

I'll be back when I've made my purchase to report and perhaps help another 'newbie' looking for guidance. Hopefully, I'll buy the right thing to start.
