I used vodka then blew it out. Put pure PG in it and vaped without inhaling as per another members suggestion. It is getting hot, just not producing much and tasting little off.
Ok cool, as long as it is still getting hot you should be ok. It sounds like you burnt some flavors on to the bridge and wick. That burnt flavor will stick with it for a while or until it's cleaned off.
The wick is just a bunch of
threads that run
through the bridge (the silver steel wool looking piece). If you look really close you will see them just barely sticking out of both sides. Once these get burnt you can't get rid of the taste. But you can get rid of the wick. Just take a needle and a pair of tweezers and pull it out. My guess is that it's brown and nasty looking. You can hit the bridge (the silver dome kind of thing) thats ok. The element is under the bridge, do not hit this part. It's like an element in a light bulb only stronger. If you break that it's all over. Don't worry too much it's at the very bottom under the bridge of the atty.
After that you can do a quick cleaning with water and a hair dryer. Boil it in water rinse well, blow it out and give it a smell. If it still smells repeat until it's at least ok with you. Take the atty and hit it with a blow dryer unitl it is really dry. four or five minutes should do it. Prime it up and go. It will not taste 100% for a while and without the wick it will not be 100% either but it should be a lot better. If you dripped I would suggest removing the bridge as well. It's only real function is to bring the liquid up to the heating coil and it can trap a lot of nasty flavors as well.
