I've had my Reomizers for a couple of weeks now (I think). I've had one successful build. The other day I tried the drill bit method of a micro coil. Using 30 kanthal and 3mm silica. Cause that's what I got. It turned out to be the nastiest vape I ever had.. The coil was to big for the wick. I know then why didn't I make it smaller. Well I did tonight. Same thing. Problem is I only can see out of one eye. So there is no depth perception when I do things. I use so much light and a magnifier lens with a light colored background that it will make you think your going snow blind. My boss said he would help me with the micro coil but I really want to do this on my own. Just to give an idea of how bad the depth perception is I can show you the third degree burn on my index finger when I was oxidizing a SS mesh for a Genny style rba. Any ideas people. When I got that one right, then all the stars were aligned perfect and I was in heaven.

As far as anyone knows I have no problems making various coils with all my different RBAs. First I have so little time to "play" and second..... I have plenty backup premade attys and cartos, various ohms, to fill in. In time peeps will ask and receive answers about any issues I have.

There's another argument for cotton.

It wicks faster than normal silica. With microcoils, the diameter is so small that silica doesn't keep up with the wicking. 3mm is about twice too big. I coil them on an 18 gauge syringe needle, and Russ does it on a similar size bottle cap needle. If you're more familiar with metic, that's about 1mm. It would be very hard to pull any sort of silica through that. Cotton is fine though.

As far as temporary (I hope) lack of depth perception -- coiling it on a needle or a thick paper clip should help, since you can adjust it after it's coiled, before pulling the pin out. Also, it would help you get it situated in the atomizer, fixing the screws and such. You might still have trouble threading cotton through :(

If pictures would help, take a look at Russ' tutorial, or my blog. The coil in my blog is not a real micro though, as the loops don't touch, but it should give you an idea. The key is to make your coil on a solid object and not remove the said object til it's all in place.

Also, if you don't mind waiting a few days for the mail, I can totally make a few coils for you with resistance of your choice and mail them. PM me with address if you're interested.

Yup! Wrap that puppy on a thick paperclip leg. If you're using 32g, about 6 wraps will get you in the 1.8-2.0 range. Wrap them close together, then squish them good with a tweezer, pliers, or just your fingernails while still on the paperclip. Leave the coil on the paperclip to maintain coil shape when threading through the posts. It helps if one leg of wire is longer than the other. Screw one post, adjust coil a bit if needed, screw other post. Slide paperclip out. Meter. Fire a couple times to check glow. You may then want to adjust the coil lower. If so, I just use the tip of a toothpick inside the coil to make minute adjustments. Roll cotton wick and thread. Cotton wick should slide easily through the coil. If it doesn't, and hangs up a bit or resists, it's too fat. Compressing it won't work. Use less cotton and redo it.

And I sometimes take close-up pictures and zoom in on them to see what's what. Also, don't forget; if you remove the coil from the "wrapping jig" and want to make adjustments, you can "glow" the coil with lighter or torch (to anneal it), slip it back onto your do-hicky and easily re-shape it. Lastly, I always hold the coil up to the atty, and decide exactly how the legs will sit and attach to the +/- connections, and shape those too, while its on my jig.

Thanks all. I took some time today. (well most of the day), and finally got both RBA's built. Used the 1/16th drill bit, sterile gauze from wallgreens. After I finally got the 4x magnifier in place it turned out to be pretty easy. The guaze is super easy to work with. (hate to admit it but after the first few attempts, I now have enough of the gauze to last a life time). Did the same thing when I bought the SS mesh for my RBA's. It's amazing how far a 24"X24" sheet of that stuff will go.
I used 30 kanthal and wound up with 1.4 on one and 1.6 on the other. Perfect for this old man,.,................ Hope to include a pic of number one. Already in use with HHV Army juice. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM so good. Makes me want to thank Aunt Bee.

The screw driver that comes with the Reomizer is a great size for micro coils. (If they are all the same) and I know cotton or bamboo are much easier and better with the micro coils.

Wonders, I didn't get any screwdrivers with my Reo. Oh well like I need another.

Bro, your builds look great. I bet they hit like freight trains? Very nice work :)
