Hi All,

I'm new to vaping, it's been less than a week and I started with Blu. Overall it works for me, I enjoy it but don't plan on getting very serious about it. However, I've found that the battery life is horrible. Now I'm not looking to go and try out other kits or systems yet, but perhaps someday. I have a few questions that I can't seem to find specific answers for. I found some references in the forums but many seem to be older and I understand Blu has gone through some product revisions over the years. Anyhow, your help is greatly appreciated - thanks!

1.) I understand that 510 batteries can be used with Blu cartomizers. Is this only the Premium100 carts or will Blu Original carts work?

2.) Can someone please recommend a decent 510 battery and a reputable place to buy one from?

3.) If a 510 works, is anyone familiar with Johnson Creek's Vea product? I was thinking of perhaps moving to that after Blu so I figured I'd try to get a battery I can reuse. This battery looks like a 510 (Hardware - Vea™ Spare Battery) but I'm not certain.

Again, thanks for the help!

1) yes any 510 battery can be used with both options

2) hard to say decent 510 battery, as most standard 510 batteries will only last about a hour if your lucky, smaller batteries just dont hold much of a charge, the more mah the battery has the longer it will last

3) johnson's creek vea looks just like another ego knock off. yes it is a 510 threading and is about the same price as any other ego knock off for a few extra bucks you might wanna look for a ego twist which allows you to change the voltage and offers a 900mah option which will last you all day(well at least for most), as where i can kill the 650 mah the vea offers in about 4 hours(im a very heavy vapor)

I would suggest that instead of getting a 510, which is slightly bigger that a Blu, that you get an eGo or Riva Starter Kit.

The eGo or Riva use the same threads as a Blu or 510 so you Cartomizers will work with it. The Battery life is also Much Better than a 510 and is Lightyears better than a Blu.

Electronic Cigarette Kits Including the Joye Ego Kit | Joye Ego Starter Kit | Joyetech Ego Products from LiteCigUSA!

Or you might want to consider an eGo Twist which is a Variable Voltage PV.

Joye ego-c twist Manual Switch Battery

But if you get an eGo, you need a New charger. You Blu Charger Can Not Be Used With An eGo.

So to me, an eGo Stater kit makes since because you get 2 Batteries and an eGo Charger plue a few goodies to go with it.

I started with Blu also. I found Volcano after which I then bought the "same" kit because I really wanted the real feel. The Volcano battery although appearing to be the same lasted longer.

I have since moved up the chain all the way to the lavatube. I would highly suggest ego twist for the possbility of variable voltage. If you want it to be merely another ego battery you're no worse off. I "knew" I didn't care about mods or variable voltage and have spent far too much finding myself.

I wish I would have signed up for ECF sooner and did real research before buying every new shiny thing I saw.

Just ordered my ProVari mini today...so EXCITED

Actually, the Vea looks like a really nice starter kit. It looks like a rebranded Ego. It does have 510 threading, so you can use Blu carts on it. You cannot however use Vea carts on a Blu. The reason being the Vea carts are Low Resistance. Plus, at least the Vea has a 6 month warranty on the hardware and they double as pass through's. Sweet deal, really at $60. Haven't seen an Ego yet that came with more than a 30 day warranty and I'm not sure all of them are even warranted that long. You can also use the Blu or the Vea carts on an Ego.

Hi Mustang and welcome to ECF. I looked at the picture of the Vea and it looks like an eGo clone to me. It is much bigger than your Blu supermini battery. If you don't care about the cigarette-shape of the Blu, I agree with the above posters--get an eGo otr a Riva kit. They are widely available; some good retaileres are Liberty Floghts (20% off for ECF members--click the button before you start carting things), LiteCig, Good Prophets, VaporKings... Or get an eGo Twist. I got a couple of them and they have quickly become my favorite batteries; but start with a 650 mAh Twist--they are longer than because they are variable voltage.

You can use your Blu cartos on any eGo class battery (or a 510 battery). The 510 batteries are shaped like a standard cigarette but they need to be recharged often. I recommend getting a 280 mAh 510 battery if you prefer a mini.

Once you're done with your Blu cartos, you may try LR Boge (2.0Ω) blank cartomizers. Or SmokTech single coil cartos. They will work with your Blu batteries also.

Good luck and happy vaping!

He can use them--they will just drain a mini Blu battery faster than standard resistance cartos. :)

Right, that's what I figured. However, the Q&A on the JC site says they cannot be used on the Blu battery, hence my reply.

If you don't mind my asking, I'm curious on why the OP is urged to buy an Ego instead? If it looks like an Ego "clone" then it may very well be a rebranded genuine Joyetech Ego or perhaps even better - since it has a nice 6 month warranty, which is a lot longer than any Ego warranty I've seen. Plus, these are also both convertible pass through batteries. A nice feature if you are a heavy vaper.

Buggs, I believe that we are all most familiar with the Joytech eGos--they've been around for a long time. I can't recommend the Vea because I've never used it; that's my reason, anyway... I never meant to imply that it isn't a good kit! That said, I've recommended Rivas to new users because they are cheaper than Joyetech eGos and I have used them myself for years. I like the new Rivas because they actually deliver 3.7v (unregulated), as opposed to eGos' 3.2-3.5v regulated (under load).

However, the Twist is different because it is a true variable voltage battery in a small form of an eGo battery. I happen to love mine (I use the 650 mAh Twists) and since I never need more than 4.2v, I have no need for any other, much bigger, more advanced (and much more expensive) VV mod, like Provari. :)

Oh, BTW, Janty also offers a 6-month warranty on all their hardware.

I'm with you on not needing anything more. I took a look at Janty and only saw the original ego (not the T or C) and 510 stick along with some other brands, I'm not familiar with. Are you saying they also carry the ego c twists?

The 510 cartos will screw on the blu, but they are a different width, they won't it in the pcc.

The blu doesn't have a great battery life and is overpriced.

I started with the same kit and hated that the battery only lasted an hour and the cartos gave me a burnt taste quickly.

If you want something that looks like a cig and has decent battery life, Take a look at the Smokeless image volt. Though is 808 theaded, its the most recommended mini on here. The battery lasts 3x longer and is available in several colors. The cartos last longer then blu, can be refilled and are cheaper. The whole kit is much cheaper and there's a 15% off coupon. Here's a video on it

You can always get an adapter to finish off your blu cartos on it.

You are perhaps thinking of the original or premium Blu's? The Premium 100 is a longer battery and a longer PCC. The Boge 510 cartomizer SR's will definitely will fit the Premium 100 and in the PCC just like the P100 cartos. I use them on mine.

i started w/ a blu, had same problem

-horrible batt life, an hour MAYBE 2 on each batt
-the box is a PAIN to charge and u MUST have the box charged to charge the batts
-so if ur box isnt charged n ur batt goes out u got qutie a few hours b4 your back in action

i went w/ a eGo 650mAh passthro - BEST SWITCH EVER... its a great starter batt w/o out "getting to into it" get a ego 650 a clearomizer or 3 and a 30ml bottle of juice you enjoy and you will be set up for close to a month and from there all you will need to replace is juice

I think your ego passthrough is probably really nice!

Which Blu kit did you have? Blu has improved with their Premium 100 kit. The PCC charges with a usb cable now and the Premium 100 batteries are 226 mah (versus the original was 80 mah) Plus they give you a separate usb charger you can use to charge the cigs without the pack. You also no longer have to screw the battery into the charging slot. The pack will charge a battery in about an hour. I actually can easily make it through my work day with 2 batteries (cannot vape at our desk). However, as inexpensive as the batteries are, I bought 2 more and always start my morning off with 4 charged batteries. Where I have problems with keeping up the charging is at night when I'm doing nothing but chain vaping. But, really that is rare that I couldn't keep up with charging. Oh, and you can also be charging the pack while you are charging a battery in the pack. The batteries are protected so you don't have to worry about over charging them, which I guess was different with the older batteries. I still like the experience better with the Blu than with the Ego - my personal preference. I like the way it holds and how easy it is to carry and use while driving. I like the flavors and I love the vapor cloud it produces. It's just more comfortable for me.

For what it's worth, I'm in the same boat, and just ordered a classic eGo 650 kit (w/ 510 atomizers), after a ton of research. I don't have it yet (a couple more days of Blu), but I'm confident it will be a major step up, both in battery life and vapor quality.

I got mine from Dragonfly, for $50, and googled up a 10% discount code.

No, eGo Twist is made be Joyetech, but it's not a Janty product. Janty designed the original eGo. I was just trying to let others know that Janty also offers a 6-month warranty on their products. Sorry I didn't make it clear.

Go with what you like! If Blu works for you, by all means, stick with it! That's all that matters. As long as it keeps you off smoking cigarettes and makes you happy!

I also like the ciglike form of those mini batteries and still use mine, frequently, when I go out or drive. I've got them all and like them all: SmokeStik (4081), KR808 (including Bloog batteries), 510... It's all good.

Somewhere, down the road, you may want to experiment with other PVs (most of us do :)). Should that happen, the Twist would be my recommendation. You don't even need to buy a kit--just get a battery (650 mAh) and a Joytech fast charger. You may enjoy it.

Good luck and happy vaping!
