Help please, totally confused.

Hi, I have been smoking (and trying to quit) for years and decided to try ecigs. Before coming here my only knowledge consisted of greensmoke and the brands they sell in the mall and I thought that was pretty much what was available. I was reading an article about ecigs and there was a comment saying to come here and do some research before buying anything, so I did and now my head is spinning. I had no clue there were so many options and different types, and I am majorly confused about what to get.

I think I've narrowed it down to the Joy 510 or the KR808D1. It seems as though the KR is simpler and more like what I was originally looking for, but I keep reading that manual is the way to go and buying your own liquid is better than prefilled carts. Like I said I am majorly confused. I'm basically looking for a dummy proof starter kit that can introduce me to the world of ecigs. It doesn't have to be perfect as I have no problem upgrading to a better model or brand if I find that I like the product in general. I'm also broke, so I'm looking for something that isn't terribly expensive. I just want it to be decent enough that I can get a feel for what ecigs are like and decide whether it is something I can switch to and hopefully stop smoking regular cigs totally. I also have no clue where to buy them from once I decide on what model I want. Any suggestions on that would be helpful also. Thanks in advance for any help.

I have the 510, it was the second system I got, and I am completely happy with it. I have 5 of them, well one of my pink batteries just died which I will replace tomorrow. And I buy my own juice. I don't think this system is confusing at all. Love it. I'm almost at my 2 week point no analogs.

Thanks so much for the advice. I watched the vids and checked out "The wonderful world of vaping". Very helpful, I'm really glad I found this site before I shelled out $140 for the greensmoke (not implying it isn't a good product for those who use it, just a bit pricey). I do have a couple of other questions. I checked out the two sites recommended and I'm definitely gonna go with one of those. My first question is I noticed that at both sites you can choose between auto or manual, at cignot I think you can actually get one of each, which I was considering. Which do you guys recommend?

Also, QueenV, I was looking at the cignot Basic Liquid sample packs, but I noticed you recommended the kit from cignot and the juice sampler from vapor station. Are the cignot juices not that good or do you just prefer vapor station? Sorry if I'm bombarding you all with questions. I just want to make sure I give this the best shot of working for me. Congrats, Heatherport on almost 2 weeks without analogs. Hopefully, I can say that soon.

I like the manual batteries as they seem to last longer between charges.

The liquid is subjective. Some people swear by one vendor over another. You will probably have to try different flavors and/or vendors to find one that you like. I would suggest that you get a bunch of small bottles until you find what works for you. We all have found flavors that are favorites that we never thought we would like.

Hello, Mellie79! I'm so glad you decided not to go the route of GreenSmokes or the mall kiosks! My boyfriend and I went with GS and quickly became less than satisfied with them. I wish I'd found this forum before we shelled out the money. We're both in front of our computers a lot, so I decided to buy a 510 PT and I love it! Now I'm upgrading to an eGo because I need the longer battery life for when I'm at work. He gave me $60 so I could buy it and he thinks I only got one kit. Boy will he be surprised when the package gets here this week because there will be two kits! He loves my PT, but he'll have to buy that on his own!

You can't go wrong with a 510 kit to start.
They are easy, dependable, not expensive, and will serve you well to be able to learn more what YOU prefer i.e. carts, cartomizers, filling your own, using pre-filled etc.
You need the experience of vaping and the sooner you get going, the better you will be able to let go of those analogs and move on to the next phase of living - enjoying the act of smoking but not the icky parts.

I highly recommend:
Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

They are fast on shipping, great prices, excellent juice, super service, and are there to answer your questions as needed. They also have an instructional video on their site.

You have no idea how glad you really are--or should be.

You definately want a manual. The autos--aside from their nasty habit of lighting up your atty everytime the wind blows or a car backfires--will die if you spill any juice into them.

The simplest good product to buy is the KR808D-1 auto batt. I say that because 2 pieces is simpler than 3, and no button is simpler than having one. That's what I started with nearly 3 months ago and I'm VERY happy with it. I would only say that I much prefer the mega 808 batteries which are 380 mAh. Being stronger they last longer, and I like them a lot. GoodProphets.com has them for $14.99. Later on I also suggest the mega cartomizers which Ikenvape.com has. That's a long length setup, but lasts and is very simple.

For right now though to start out with I'd get pre-filled cartos because again, that is simpler. Vapor4Life has some good ones, and good juices (ordering from the same place if possible saves shipping cost) to refill the cartos with. Later on, get the same juice at 36mg and you can dilute it with VG/PG to start learning how to "do it yourself". V4L also runs big discounts very frequently, just get on their mailing list.

Right now, get the 808 kit and pre-filled cartos, and take it from there. That's as simple as it gets, and I agree that at the beginning keeping it simple is a very good idea. Get used just vaping first.

I think there is an unjustified prejudice toward the 510 over the 808, and a prejudice toward the manual over the auto. People say the autos "self-fire" but they don't anymore, they're not sound activated anymore but vacuum activated.

Ahh, just when I was sold on the 510, lol. I do think the 808 does seem simpler. Can I refill the prefilleds?

Yes!!! They're very easy to refill, and mine reill lots of times before giving out... at least 10 to 20 refills. Plus V4L cartos have soft caps, easy to remove (I use a tiny screwdriver for eyeglasses to pop them out, but a bent paper clip will do, or some use a dental pick.)
