Hi Folks! I'd like to get some thoughts on a wicking problem with my kayfun lite v2. Let me first mention that its a clone, I mean a clone of a clone - a real knockoff. I wrapped a micro coil to 1.7ohm using 28ga and positioned it about 2mm above the air hole. I watched several videos and read quite a few forums on various wicking methods. Being mindful of the amount of wick I'm using, I tried pulling both ends of the wick up through the chimney base and trimming just above, and tucking the wick down. I also tried trimming the wick so it just touches the deck right on top behind the juice channel.

After several attempts with both cotton and rayon I continue to get dry hits after 5-8 good draws. No leaking or flooding problems just the dry hits. Primer puffs seem to help a bit and if I let it sit for a while it vapes great for another 5-8 draws. I'm running this on a regulated device as low as 3.6v with no success. juice is off the shelf, Space Jam 50/50. Feel like I followed instruction to the letter and running out of ideas.

Appreciate any thoughts you may have. Thanks.

I don't do the wick up through the chimney thing, I use japanese cotton, cut it to where it reaches the lower deck and the juice it in place on the wick deck in sort of a curl or "j" shape along the wickig deck, making sure to stay away from the juice channels, then install my chimney.

But it sounds like you have a vacuum leak, in the chamber and juice is not getting to your wick fast enough, try replacing your o-rings, the small one inside your top cap, and the one on the threads of the top chimney.

It's either the juice channels as mentioned or, believe it or not, you're over filling it. For some crazy reason these Kayfuns won't hardly wick at all if the tanks are too full. Check your juice channels against some Internet pics to see if they look too small and if not, try only 1 or 2 milliliters and see if it keeps up. I can chain vape mine with 100% vg at 17w and it keeps up fine. Let us know what you figure out.
Oh yeah, check all sealing points like mentioned as well. ;)

Who makes the clone? How tight is the wick in the coil after you vape on it a few times? The last problems I had with dry hits was a switch in cotton types. The build looked the same as usual and it was not completely filling the coil after a little use. Added slightly more and it was good to go.

This is exactly what I'm doing. I can chain vape this and some of the channels out of the variety of four kayfuns are quite narrow.

I use plain ole sterile cotton balls from walmart or CVS. I roll the cotton into into approx 1 inch lengths trim the wick about 1/4 inch above the chimney wall. The wick should be loose in the coil. Tuck the wick to the deck floor and against the deck wall such that it is not blocking the juice channels. The wick should appear as an "S" shape on either side of the deck. Wet the wick down with juice, fire it once or twice, complete the assy, fill 'er up and you are good to go.
Check for air leaks by covering the air hole and doing a strong dry hit. You should feel it if you have a leak.
One more thing I find that if the air flow is too 'loose' then you are more prone to get dry hits. Tightening the draw seems to help with dry hits.
Good Luck

Its been cleaned. I'm currently running it at 3.6v.

Are you compressing your cotton or are you leaving it as fluffy as possible?

The reason I mentioned the o-rings earler was I started having the same issue on a real v2 plus, I replaced the o-rings and the problem went away.

I hate to say it because the v2 plus already has a tight draw thus the reason I prefer the 3.1 over the v2 but try turning in your air screw a little to try and create a little more vacuum in the chamber.

I'm running a 1.7 ohm build right now at 5.53v 17 watts vaping the crap out of some fairly thick 80/20 juice on a 3.1, been vaping on it all day and nar a dry hit,
so it can be done
It may be that you got a hold of one of the dreaded shallow juice channel clones and may need to drimmel the channels out some more.
